Parking Assist
If equipped, Rear Parking Assist
(RPA) uses sensors on the rear
bumper to assist with parking and
avoiding objects while in
R (Reverse). It operates at speeds
less than 8 km/h (5 mph). RPA may
display a warning triangle on the
Rear Vision Camera screen and/or
a graphic on the instrument cluster
to provide the object distance. In
addition, multiple beeps may occur
if very close to an object.

Power Outlets
The vehicle has an accessory
power outlet on the center floor
console in front of the cupholders.
It can be used to plug in electrical
equipment, such as a cell phone or
an MP3 player.
The accessory power outlet does
not work when the ignition is turned
off and the driver door is opened.
This helps to preserve the battery
life of the vehicle. See
Power Outlets 0103.
Universal Remote System
If equipped, this system, in the
overhead console, provides a way
to replace up to three remote control
transmitters used to activate
devices such as garage door
openers, security systems, and
home automation devices.
Read the instructions completely
before attempting to program the
Universal Remote system. Because
of the steps involved, it may be
helpful to have another person
available to assist you with
programming the Universal Remote
system.

Sunroof
The ignition must be in ON/RUN,
ACC/ACCESSORY, or Retained
Accessory Power (RAP) to operate
the sunroof. See Retained
Accessory Power (RAP) 0213.
On vehicles with a sunroof, the
switch is on the overhead console.
Open/Close : Press and holde
orgto open or close the sunroof.

The key, inside the Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) transmitter, can be
used for all locks.To remove the key, press the button
on the side of the transmitter near
the bottom, and pull the key out.
Never pull the key out without
pressing the button.
See your dealer if a new key is
needed.

With an active OnStar subscription,
an OnStar Advisor may remotely
unlock the vehicle. See OnStar

Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System

If there is a decrease in the RKE
operating range:
. Check the distance. The
transmitter may be too far from
the vehicle.
. Check the location. Other
vehicles or objects may be
blocking the signal. .
Check the transmitter's battery.
See “Battery Replacement” later
in this section.
. If the transmitter is still not
working correctly, see your
dealer or a qualified technician
for service.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System Operation
The Keyless Access system allows
for vehicle entry when the
transmitter is within range. See
“Keyless Access Operation” later in
this section.
The RKE transmitter may work up to
60 m (197 ft) away outside the
vehicle.
Other conditions can affect the
performance of the transmitter. See
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
System 027.

doors may lock with the RKE
transmitter inside the vehicle. Do
not leave the RKE transmitter in an
unattended vehicle.

automatically lock when exiting

Temporary Disable of the Passive
Locking Feature
Temporarily disable passive locking
by pressing and holding
Kon the
interior door switch with a door open
for at least four seconds, or until
three chimes are heard. Passive
locking will then remain disabled
until
Qon the interior door is
pressed, or until the vehicle is
turned on.
Remote Left In Vehicle Alert
When the vehicle is turned off and a
remote is left in the vehicle, the horn
will chirp three times after all doors
are closed. To turn on or off see
Vehicle Personalization 0140. Keyless Trunk Opening
When the doors are locked, press
the touch pad to open the trunk if
the RKE transmitter is within
1 m (3 ft).

transmitter battery, see

Programming Transmitters to
the Vehicle
Only RKE transmitters programmed
to the vehicle will work. If a
transmitter is lost or stolen, a
replacement can be purchased and
programmed through your dealer.
The vehicle can be reprogrammed
so that lost or stolen transmitters no
longer work. Any remaining
transmitters will need to be
reprogrammed. Each vehicle can
have up to eight transmitters
matched to it. Programming with a Recognized
Transmitter
A new transmitter can be
programmed to the vehicle when
there is one recognized transmitter.
To program, the vehicle must be off
and all of the transmitters, both
currently recognized and new, must
be with you.
1. Place the recognized
transmitter(s) in the rear
cupholder in the center
console.
2. Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver door handle.

The DIC display should
now show READY FOR
REMOTE # 1.
4. Place the new transmitter intothe rear cupholder in the center
console.
5. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the transmitter is
learned, the DIC will show that
it is ready to program the next
transmitter. 6. Remove the transmitter from
the cupholder and press
K
orQ.
To program additional
transmitters, repeat Steps 4–6.
When all additional transmitters
are programmed, press and
hold ENGINE START/STOP for
12 seconds to exit
programming mode.
7. Put the key back into the transmitter.
Starting the Vehicle with a Low
Transmitter Battery
If the transmitter battery is weak or if
there is interference with the signal,
the DIC may display NO REMOTE
DETECTED or NO REMOTE KEY
WAS DETECTED PLACE KEY IN
TRANSMITTER POCKET THEN
START YOUR VEHICLE. See Key
and Lock Messages 0135. To start the vehicle:
1. Place the transmitter in the rear
cupholder in the center
console.
2. With the vehicle in P (Park) or N (Neutral), press the brake
pedal and ENGINE
START/STOP.
Replace the transmitter battery
as soon as possible.
Battery Replacement
Replace the battery if the REPLACE
BATTERY IN REMOTE KEY
message displays in the DIC. See
Key and Lock Messages 0135.

Caution
When replacing the battery, do
not touch any of the circuitry on
the transmitter. Static from your
body could damage the
transmitter.
The battery is not rechargeable. To
replace the battery:
1. Press the button on the side of the transmitter and pull the
key out.
2. Separate the two halves of thetransmitter using a flat tool
inserted into the area near the
key slot.
3. Remove the battery by pushingon the battery and sliding it
toward the bottom of the
transmitter.
4. Insert the new battery, positive side facing the back cover.
Push the battery down until it is
held in place. Replace with a
CR2032 or equivalent battery.
5. Snap the battery cover back on to the transmitter.
Remote Vehicle Start
If equipped, this feature allows the
engine to be started from outside
the vehicle.
/:This button will be on the RKE
transmitter if equipped with remote
start.
The climate control system will use
the previous settings during a
remote start. The rear window
defogger and heated seats,
if equipped, may also come on. See
“Remote Start Auto Heated Seats”
under Heated and Ventilated Front

Immobilizer
SeeRadio Frequency
Statement 0357.
Immobilizer Operation
This vehicle has a passive
theft-deterrent system.
The system does not have to be
manually armed or disarmed.
The vehicle is automatically
immobilized when the transmitter
leaves the vehicle.
The immobilization system is
disarmed when the ignition button is
pressed and a valid transmitter is
found in the vehicle.
The security light in the instrument
cluster comes on when there is a
problem with arming or disarming
the theft-deterrent system. The system has one or more
transmitters matched to an
immobilizer control unit in your
vehicle. Only a correctly matched
transmitter will start the vehicle.
If the transmitter is ever damaged,
you may not be able to start your
vehicle.
When trying to start the vehicle, the
security light comes on briefly when
the ignition is turned on.
If the engine does not start and the
security light stays on, there is a
problem with the system. Turn the
vehicle off and try again.
If the RKE transmitter appears to be
undamaged, try another transmitter.
Or, you may try placing the
transmitter in the rear cupholder in
the center console. See

If the engine does not start with the
other transmitter or when the
transmitter is in the pocket in the
center console, your vehicle needs
service. See your dealer who can service the theft-deterrent system
and have a new transmitter
programmed to the vehicle.
Do not leave the transmitter or
device that disarms or deactivates
the theft-deterrent system in the
vehicle.

Convertible
On convertible models, the window
switches control both the front and
rear windows. Press the front or
rear button to choose the desired
windows and the indicator light will
illuminate, then use the window
switches. The default operation is
the front windows.
Express Window Operation
This feature allows the window to
automatically open or close fully.
. To activate express-down, press
the switch fully to the second
detent and release. .
To activate express-up, pull the
switch fully to the second detent
and release.
. To stop window movement,
press or pull the switch briefly.
Obstacle Detection
This feature is active during
express-up movements in ON/RUN/
START, or when the engine is off
and RAP is active. Obstacle
detection also works with RAP when
the switch is held up.
If the window encounters an object
during closing, it will stop and open
to a predetermined distance.
Conditions such as severe cold or
ice may cause the window to
auto-reverse. The window will return
to normal operation once the
condition or object is removed.
If conditions prevent a window from
closing and the window continues to
auto-reverse, it is possible to close
the window while in ON/RUN/
START by holding the window
switch in the first or second detent
until the window is closed.
Window Operation with
Convertible Top
Windows automatically lower fully
when the convertible top is opened
or closed. See Convertible Top
0 47. To raise the windows, pull the
switch to the second detent and
release.
Window Indexing
Indexing automatically lowers the
window a small amount when the
door is opened. When the door is
closed, the window will raise to its
full up position. If either window
does not index properly, it could be
due to loss of power. Before
returning to the dealer for service,
perform the window indexing reset
procedure.
Window Indexing and
Express-Up Reset
Window indexing may be required if
the vehicle battery has been
recharged or disconnected, or is not
working. Express-up and the
convertible top will not function until
the windows are reset. After battery
power is restored, a message

time without starting the
engine to avoid draining the
vehicle battery.
. Do not open or store the
convertible top when it is
dirty or wet. This could
result in stains, mildew,
or other damage.
. Only store the vehicle with
the top fully closed.
Opening the Convertible Top 1. Remove all objects from the top of the tonneau cover and
forward of the partition. Place
the partition in the rear storage
area in the upright position.
Fasten both sides of the
partition to the posts just below
the tonneau cover. See Rear
Storage 095.
2. Close the trunk.
3. Start the vehicle or place it in ACC/ACCESSORY. 4. When possible, operate the
convertible top when the
vehicle is stopped. The top can
be operated while driving
below 50 km/h (31 mph) and
will stop if that speed is
exceeded. The top operation
will take approximately
25 seconds. Make sure the top
operation can be completed
before that speed is reached.
5. Press and hold the bottom ofM. The windows will
automatically lower. 6. After the convertible top is
completely open, a chime
sounds and a DIC message
displays. Release the switch.
If the radio is on, the sound may be
muted for a brief time due to a new
audio system equalization being
loaded.
Closing the Convertible Top 1. Make sure the sun visor mirror covers are closed and the sun
visors are stored in the center
mount position.
2. Remove all objects from the top of the tonneau cover and
forward of the partition. Place
the partition in the rear storage
area in the upright position.
Fasten both sides of the
partition to the posts just below
the tonneau cover. See Rear
Storage 095.
3. Close the trunk.
4. Start the vehicle or place it in ACC/ACCESSORY.
