When jump starting or charging the battery,
never connect the negative ground cable to
the battery negative post because the battery
manager system must be able to detect the
battery's state of charge. Always connect the
negative ground cable to the negative ground
post of the battery manager control unit.
Use of jumper cables
Make sure to connect the jumper cable clamps in
exactly the order described below!

(black)
3. Connect one end of the black negative cable
to the negative terminal@ of the booster
battery@ .
4 .
Connect the other end to the jump start pin

@.
Starting the engine
.. Start the engine of the vehicle with the booster
battery@. Run the engine at a moderate
speed .
.,.. Start engine w ith discharged vehicle battery@
in the usual manner.
.,.. If the engine fails to start, do not keep the

Wait for about 30 seconds and then try again .
.. With engine running, remove jumper cables
from both vehicles in the exact reverse order .
.. Close the red cover on the positive terminal.
The battery is vented to the outside to prevent
gases from entering the vehicle interior. Make

- New Vehicle Limited Warranty
-Limited Warranty Against Corrosion Perfora-
tion
-Emissions Control System Warranty
-Emissions Performance Warranty
-California Emissions Control Warranty (USA

Detailed information regarding your warranties
can be found in your Warranty & Maintenance

Operating your vehicle
outside the U.S.A. or
Canada
Government regulations in the United States and
Canada require that automobiles meet specific
emission regulations and safety standards.
Therefore, vehicles built for the U.S.A. and Cana
da differ from vehicles sold in other countries.
If you plan to take your vehicle outside the conti
nental limits of the United States or Canada,
there is the possi bility that:
- unleaded fuels for vehicles with catalytic con
verter may not be available;
- f
uel may have a considerably lower octane rat
ing. Improper fuel may cause engine damage;
-ser vice may be inadequate due to lack of proper
service facilities, tools or testing equipment;
-replacement parts may not be readily available.
-Navigation systems for vehicles built for the
U.S.A. and Canada will not necessarily work in
Europe , and may not work in other countries
outside North America.

Audi cannot be responsible for mechanical
damage that could result from inadequate
fuel, service or parts availability.

Under difficult operating conditions, for exam

very dusty regions, etc., some service work
should be performed between the intervals speci

applies particularly to:
- oil

- cleaning or replac ing the a ir filte r.
~ For the sake of the environment
By reg ularly maintaining your vehicle, you

make sure that emission standards are
maintained, thus minimizing adverse effects
on the environment.
