Tethering (Wi-Fi sharing)When the vehicle is connected to the Internet, this connection can be shared (tethered) with other devices 5

The network service provider (the SIM card) must support tethering.
1. Open the center display's Top view.2. Tap

Network name and assign a name to
the hotspot.
4. Tap
Password and create a password to be
used by devices trying to connect (tether) to the hotspot.
5. Tap
Frequency band and select a fre-
quency that the hotspot will use to transmit data. This may not be possible in all markets.
6. Activate/deactivate by tapping the
Vehicle
Wi-Fi Hotspot box.
7. If another connection has been used previ- ously, confirm the change of connections.
> It is now possible for external devices toconnect to the vehicle's Wi-Fi hotspot.
Connection status will be indicated in a symbol in the center display's status bar. Tap
Connected devices to see a list of con-
nected devices.

Deleting Wi-Fi networks
Networks that are not used can be deleted.
1. Tap Settings in the center display's Top
view.

Wi-FiSaved networks.

Forget to remove the network.
4. Confirm the selection. > The vehicle will no longer connect to thedeleted network.
Deleting all networksAll networks can be deleted at the same time by returning (resetting) to factory settings. If this is done, all user data and settings will be reset to their default settings.

Wi-Fi technology and security
The following are types of networks can be con- nect to.
It is possible to connect to the following types of networks:
• Frequency: 2.4 or 5 GHz 6
.
• Standards: 802.11 a/b/g/n.
• Security type: WPA2-AES-CCMP.
The vehicle's Wi-Fi system is designed to man-age Wi-Fi devices in the vehicle. If several devices are using a frequency at the same time, this may result in poorer performance.

Vehicle modem settings
The vehicle is equipped with a modem that can be used to connect the vehicle to the Internet. Itis also possible to share (tether) this connectionvia Wi-Fi.

Disable PIN: Allow access to the SIM card without
requiring a PIN code.

Send request code: this is used to down-
load the balance remaining on a SIM card. This is specific to your service provider.

Before the service can be used
Volvo ID
•The owner (primary driver) must create or have a Volvo ID (see the article "Volvo ID").
• Register your Volvo ID in the vehicle asexplained in the article "Volvo ID". If you havealready registered a Volvo ID, use the sameemail address that you used to create theVolvo ID.
Changing a
Volvo ID email addressIf you would like to register a different email address, open the Volvo ID app and tap Change
Volvo ID. Follow the instructions provided. See
also the article "Volvo ID" for additional informa- tion.
Selecting a Volvo retailerBy default, the retailer where you purchased your vehicle will be your preferred retailer/Volvoauthorized workshop who will perform serviceand repairs on your vehicle. To change the pre-ferred retailer, go to Dealer Locator atvolvocars.com and select a retailer, click "ServiceScheduler" and book an appointment at the newpreferred retailer.
Prerequisites for booking service from the
vehicle
In order to book an appointment from the vehicle, it must be connected to the Internet (see the arti-cle "Internet connected vehicle").
Using the serviceWhen it is time for service or in certain cases ifrepairs are necessary, a message will appear inthe instrument panel and in the center display.This message is triggered by: • the amount of time that has elapsed since the last service
• the number of hours the engine has runsince the last service
• mileage since the last service.
• Specific warnings or fault codes in the vehi-cle
Booking service or repairsSubmit a booking request whenever you need a workshop appointment or when a messageregarding the need for service or repairs hasbeen displayed in the instrument panel and in thecenter display.
Sending an appointment request

Open the Car status app in the center dis-
play's App view.
2. Tap
Appointments. 3.
Under
Appointments, tap Request
appointment.
4. Check that your
Volvo ID is correct.
5. Check that the correct retailer is listed. If you prefer, simply tap the button to initiate a call to the retailer.
6. Tap
Send appointment request. Your
request and vehicle data will be sent to your retailer through the vehicle's Internet con-nection.
> Volvo will send a booking invitation to your email address.
7. Open the email and click the link to the Volvo On-Line Service Scheduler for your retailer and book a workshop appointment at a con-venient time with your preferred service advi-sor. Add any additional preferences and freetext to your booking. At this point in thebooking procedure, you can also change yourpreferred retailer by selecting the second linkin the email, which leads you to the VolvoRetailer Locator where you can selectanother retailer. Click the "Service Appoint-ment" link to start your booking.
8. When you have submitted your workshop booking in the Volvo On-Line Service Sched-uler, your appointment will be confirmedonline in an email and by a message in thecenter display after a short delay.

Replacing bulbs
The halogen headlight bulbs can be replaced by the owner.
Before the bulbs can be replaced, that plastic covering over the headlight housing has to beremoved.
To do so:
Lift the rubber strip by pressing in toward the engine compartment.
Release the pins in the plastic covering's four clips by pressing them down with ascrewdriver or similar object and remove thecovering.
The turn signal, high/low beam, Daytime RunningLight and parking light bulbs will be accessiblewhen the plastic covering has been removed. Put the covering back in place in the reverse order.
NOTE
The pins in the clips have to be pressed back completely before the clips are placed in theplastic covering. When the covering is put back in place, the pins must be pressed so that their upper sur-face is flush with the surface of the clip.
NOTE
• For information regarding any bulbs not mentioned in this section, please contactyour Volvo retailer or a trained andauthorized Volvo service technician.
• Always switch off the ignition before star-ting to replace a bulb.
• If an error message remains in the dis-play after a faulty bulb has been replaced,contact an authorized Volvo workshop.
• Condensation may form temporarily onthe inside of the lenses of exterior lightssuch as headlights, fog lights, or taillights.This is normal and the lights aredesigned to withstand moisture. Normally,condensation will dissipate after thelights have been on for a short time.
• The optional Active Bending Light bulbscontain trace amounts of mercury. Thesebulbs should always be disposed of by atrained and qualified Volvo service techni-cian.
CAUTION
Never touch the glass of bulbs with your fin- gers. Grease and oils from your fingers vapor-ize in the heat and will leave a deposit on thereflector, which will damage it.

Automatic car washes
•We do NOT recommend washing your car in an automatic wash during the first fewmonths (because the paint will not havehardened sufficiently).
• An automatic wash is a simple and quick wayto clean your car, but it is worth rememberingthat it may not be as thorough as when youyourself go over the car with sponge andwater. Keeping the underbody clean is mostimportant, especially in the winter. Someautomatic washers do not have facilities forwashing the underbody.
NOTE
Condensation may form temporarily on the inside of the lenses of exterior lights such asheadlights, fog lights, or taillights. This is nor-mal and the lights are designed to withstandmoisture. Normally, condensation will dissi-pate after the lights have been on for a shorttime.
CAUTION
•Before driving into an automatic car wash, turn off the optional rain sensor toavoid damaging the windshield wipers.
• Make sure that side view mirrors, auxiliarylamps, etc, are secure, and that anyantenna(s) are retracted or removed. Oth-erwise there is risk of the machine dis-lodging them.
• Chromed wheels:
Clean chrome-plated
wheels using the same detergents usedfor the body of the vehicle. Aggressivewheel-cleaning agents can permanentlystain chrome-plated wheels.
WARNING
• When the vehicle is driven immediately after being washed, apply the brakes,including the parking brake, several timesin order to remove any moisture from thebrake linings.
• Engine cleaning agents should not beused when the engine is warm. This con-stitutes a fire risk.
Exterior componentsVolvo recommends the use of special cleaning products, available at your Volvo retailer, forcleaning colored plastic, rubber, or ornamentalcomponents such as chromed strips on the exte- rior of your vehicle. The instructions for usingthese products should be followed carefully. Sol-vents or stain removers should not be used.

Avoid waxing or polishing plastic or rub- ber components
• Polishing chromed strips can wear awayor damage the surface
• Polishes containing abrasive substancesshould not be used

Cleaning the interior
Only use cleaning agents and car care products recommended by Volvo. Clean regularly and fol-low the instructions included with the car careproduct.
CAUTION
• Under no circumstances should gasoline, naphtha or similar cleaning agents beused on the plastic or the leather sincethese can cause damage.
• Take extra care when removing stainssuch as ink or lipstick since the coloringcan spread.
• Use solvents sparingly. Too much solventcan damage the seat padding.
• Start from the outside of the stain andwork toward the center.
• Sharp objects (e.g. pencils or pens in apocket) or Velcro fasteners on clothingmay damage the textile upholstery.
• Clothing that is not colorfast, such asnew jeans or suede garments, may stainthe upholstery.
Fabric upholstery and ceiling linerClean with soapy water or a detergent. For more difficult spots caused by oil, ice cream, shoe pol-ish, grease, etc., use a clothing/fabric stainremover. Consult your Volvo retailer.
Leather
* careVolvo's leather upholstery is manufactured with aprotectant to repel soiling. Over time, sunlight,grease and dirt can break down the protection.Staining, cracking, scuffing, and fading can result. Volvo offers an easy-to-use, non-greasy leather care kit formulated to clean and beautify yourvehicle's leather, and to renew the protectivequalities of its finish. The cleaner removes dirtand oil buildup. The light cream protectantrestores a barrier against soil and sunlight. Volvo also offers a special leather softener that should be applied after the cleaner and protec-tant. It leaves leather soft and smooth, andreduces friction between leather and other fin-ishes in the vehicle. Volvo recommends cleaning, protecting and con- ditioning your vehicle's leather two to four times ayear. Ask your Volvo retailer about Leather CareKit 951 0251 and Leather Softener 943 7429.
Cleaning leather upholstery1. Pour leather cleaner on a damp sponge and
squeeze it until the cleaner foams.
2. Apply the foam to the stain by moving the sponge with circular movements.
3. Dampen the stain thoroughly with the sponge. Let the sponge absorb the stain, do not rub.
4. Dry the stain with soft paper towels or a towel, and allow the leather to dry completely.
Protecting leather upholstery1. Put a small amount of protectant cream on a cloth and apply a thin coating of cream to the upholstery with light circular movements.
2. Allow the leather to dry for 20 minutes. This will help the leather resist staining and pro- tect against sunlight's harmful UV rays.
Cleaning a leather-covered steering wheel
• Remove soil, dust, etc., with a damp sponge and a neutral soap solution.
• Leather should be allowed to breath. Nevercover the steering wheel with a plastic pro-tector.
• Volvo recommends cleaning, protecting andconditioning the steering wheel with Volvo'sLeather Care Kit 951 0251 and LeatherSoftener 943 7429.
If there are stains on the steering wheel: Type 1 (ink, wine, coffee, milk, sweat or blood)
–Use a soft cloth or sponge. Wipe the wheel with a solution with 5% ammonia. For bloodstains, mix approx. 1 cup (2 dl) of water andone ounce (25g) of salt and wipe the stain.
Type 2 (fat, oil, sauces, or chocolate)
1. Same procedure as for type I stains.
2. Finish by rubbing the wheel with absorbent paper or a towel.

Cleaning the center display
Marks, stains, etc., on the center display may affect its performance and readability. Clean itregularly with a microfiber cloth.
Center display's Home button
To clean the center display:
1. Turn off the display by pressing and holding the Home button.
2. Wipe the screen clean with the microfiber cloth provided or use a similar one, using a small, circular motion. If necessary, moistenthe cloth slightly.
3. Reactivate the display by pressing the Home button briefly.
CAUTION
• The microfiber cloth used should be free of sand, dirt or anything abrasive thatmight scratch the screen.
• Do not use rough cloths, paper towels ortissues that could scratch the screen.
• When cleaning the center display, applyonly light pressure on the screen. Press-ing too hard could cause damage.
• Do not spray any liquid or corrosivechemicals directly on the screen. Do notuse window cleaning liquid, cleaningagents (particularly ones containing abra-sives), sprays, solvents, alcohol or ammo-nia to clean the screen.

Corrosion protection
Your vehicle is constructed with effective protec- tion against corrosion.
Inspection and maintenanceThe corrosion protection does not normally require maintenance but keeping the vehicleclean helps prevent the onset of corrosion. Theuse of strong alkaline or acidic cleaning fluidsshould always be avoided on shiny body compo-nents. Any stone chips in the paint should betouched up as soon as possible.
