Interior features
■Outside temperature display
■ When the outside temperature is low
The dehumidification function may not operate even when “A/C” button is
pressed.
■ Operation of the air conditio ning system in Eco drive mode
● In the Eco drive mode, the air conditioning system is controlled as follows to
prioritize fuel efficiency
• Engine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict heating/
cooling capacity
• Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected
● To improve air conditioning performance, perform the following operations
• Adjust the fan speed
• Turn off Eco drive mode
• Customize the air conditioning control of Eco drive mode. ( P. 579)
■ Ventilation and air conditioning odors
●To let fresh air in, set the air conditioning system to the outside air mode.
● During use, various odors from inside and outside the vehicle may enter into
and accumulate in the air conditioning system. This may then cause odor to
be emitted from the vents.
● To reduce potential odors from occurring:
• It is recommended that the air conditioning system be set to outside air
mode prior to turning the vehicle off.
• The start timing of the blower may be delayed for a short period of time immediately after the air conditioning system is started in automatic
mode.

the temperature.

The mode switches between outside air mode and recirculated air mode
each time the switch is pressed.
■ When changing the temperature se tting using the steering switches
The temperature will change, however the position of the selection frame on
the air conditioning display will remain the same.
: If equipped
Some air conditioning features can be controlled using the
switches on the steering wheel.

●The clock is displayed when the power switch is in ACCESSORY or ON
mode.
● Even after the power switch has been turned off, the time will continue to be
displayed for approximately 30 seconds or until a door is locked.
Please use as a power supply for el ectronic goods that use less than
12 V DC/10 A (power consumption of 120 W).
The power outlet can be used when the power switch is in ACCESSORY or
ON mode.

7-2. Maintenance
■Repair and replacement
It is recommended that genuine Toyota parts be used for repairs to ensure
performance of each system. If non-Toyota parts are used in replacement or if
a repair shop other than a Toyota dealer performs repairs, confirm the war-
ranty coverage.
■ Resetting the maintenance requir ed reminder light/message indicating
maintenance is required (U.S.A. only)
After the required maintenance is preformed according to the maintenance
schedule, please reset the reminder light/message.
To reset the reminder light/message, follow the procedures described below:
Switch the display to the trip meter “A” ( P. 91) when the hybrid system is
operating.
Turn the power switch off.
While pressing the MPH or km/h button ( P. 93), turn the power switch to
ON mode (do not start the hybrid system because otherwise the reset
mode will be canceled). Continue to press and hold the button until the trip
meter displays “000000” and the indicator stops flashing to indicate that the
reset is complete.
■ Allow inspection and repairs to be performed by a Toyota dealer
●Toyota technicians are well-trained specialists and are kept up to date with
the latest service information. They are well informed about the operation of
all systems on your vehicle.
● Keep a copy of the repair order. It proves that the maintenance that has
been performed is under warranty cove rage. If any problem should arise
while your vehicle is under warranty, your Toyota dealer will promptly take
care of it.
WARNING
■ If your vehicle is not properly maintained
Improper maintenance could result in serious damage to the vehicle and
possible serious injury or death.
■ Handling of the 12-volt battery
● Engine exhaust, some of its constituents, and a wide variety of automobile
components contain or emit chemicals known to the State of California to
cause cancer and birth defects and other reproductive harm. Work in a
well ventilated area.
● Oils, fuels and fluids contained in vehicles as well as waste produced by
component wear contain or emit chemicals known to the State of Califor-
nia to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Avoid
exposure and wash any affected area immediately.
● 12-volt battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and
lead compounds which are known to cause brain damage. Wash your
hands after handling. ( P. 437)

8-2. Steps to take in an emergency
If your vehicle needs to be towed
In the following situations, it is not possible to be towed by another
vehicle using cables or chains, as the front wheels may be locked due
to the parking lock. Contact your Toyota dealer or commercial towing
service.
●There is a malfunction in the shift control system. ( P. 490, 503)
● There is a malfunction in the immobilizer system. ( P. 82)
● There is a malfunction in the smart key system. ( P. 534)
● The 12-volt battery is discharged. ( P. 536)
The following may indicate a problem with your hybrid transmission.
Contact your Toyota dealer or commercial towing service before tow-
ing.
● The hybrid system warning light turns on or the hybrid system
warning message is displayed on the multi-information display and
the vehicle does not move.
● The vehicle makes an abnormal sound.
Do not tow with a sling-type truck
to prevent body damage.
If towing is necessary, we re commend having your vehicle
towed by your Toyota dealer or commercial towing service,
using a lift-type truc k or flat bed truck.
Use a safety chain system for all towing, and abide by all state/
provincial and local laws.
