There is a malfunction in the system
*1: The system judges a person of adult size as an adult. When a smaller
adult sits in the front passenger seat, the system may recognize him/her
as a child depending on his/her physique and posture.
*2: In the event the front passenger does not wear a seat belt.
*3: When a larger child who has outgrown a child restraint system sits in thefront passenger seat, the system may recognize him/her as an adult
depending on his/her physique or posture.
*4: Never install a rear-facing child restraint system on the front passengerseat. A forward-facing child restraint system should only be installed on
the front passenger seat when it is unavoidable.

2. Instrument cluster
The units used on the speedometer and some indicators may differ
depending on where the vehicle is sold.
Warning lights and indicators
The warning lights and indicators on the instrument cluster and
center panel inform the driver of the status of the vehicle’s vari-
ous systems.
For the purpose of explanation, the following illustration dis-
plays all warning lights a nd indicators illuminated.

*1: These lights turn on when the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ONmode (vehicles with a smart key system) or the engine switch is turned to
the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart key system) to indicate that a
system check is being performed. They will turn off after the engine is
started, or after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction in a system if
the lights do not come on, or do not turn off. Have the vehicle inspected by
your Toyota dealer.
*2: The light flashes to indicate a malfunction.

Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS warning light not
come on when you start the engine, this could mean that these systems are
not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result in death
or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer immedi-
ately if this occurs.

If a warning light turns on or a warning
buzzer sounds
Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights
comes on or flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then
goes off, this does not necessarily indicate a malfunction in the
system. However, if this continues to occur, have the vehicle
inspected by your Toyota dealer.

• Low brake fluid
• Malfunction in the brake system
This light also comes on when the parking brake is not
released. If the light turns off after the parking brake is
fully released the system is operating normally.
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and
contact your Toyota dealer. Continuing to drive
the vehicle may be dangerous.
Charging system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the vehicle’s charging sys-
tem
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and
contact your Toyota dealer.
Low engine oil pressure warning light
Indicates that the engine oil pressure is too low
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and
contact your Toyota dealer.
