When the ignition switch is in the “ON”
position or the ignition mode is “ON”, this
gauge indicates the engine coolant tem-
perature. Under normal driving conditions,
the indicator should stay within the normal,
acceptable temperature range between
“H” and “C”. If the indicator approaches
“H”, overheating is indicated. Follow the
instructions for engine overheating in the
³ ( 0 ( 5 * ( 1 & < 6 ( 5 9 , & ( ´ section.

When the ignition switch is turned to the
“ON” position or the engine switch is
pressed to change the ignition mode to
“ON”, the instrument cluster lights come
on.
Your vehicle has a system to automatically
dim the brightness of the instrument panel
lights when the position lights or headlights
are on.
You can change the brightness of the
instrument panel lights regardless of
whether the position lights or headlights
are off or on.
To increase the brightness of the instru-
ment panel lights, turn the indicator selec-
tor knob (1) clockwise.
To reduce the brightness of the instrument
panel lights, turn the indicator selector
knob (1) counterclockwise.NOTE:
•If you do no
t turn the knob for more than
5 seconds while activating the bright-
ness control, the brightness control dis-
play will be canceled automatically.
• When you reconnect the battery, the
brightness of the instrument panel lights
will be reinitialized. Readjust the bright-
ness according to your preference.
NOTE:
If you select the high brightness level when
the position lights or headlights are on, the
instrument panel lights are not dimmed.

This indicator light comes on while the posi-
tion lights, tail light and/or the headlights are
on.

If the coolant temperature is cool enough, this
light comes on when the ignition switch is
turned to the “ON” position or the engine
switch is pressed to change the ignition mode
to ON and goes out when the glow plug is
heated enough for engine starting.

4) Make sure the hood is fully closed and
latched.
5) Check the headlights, turn signal lights,
brake lights and horn for proper opera-
tion.
6) Adjust the seat and head restraint.
7) Check the brake pedal and the parking
brake lever.
8) Adjust the mirrors.
9) Make sure that you and all passengers
have properly fastened the seat belts.
10)Make sure that all warning lights come
on as the ignition switch is turned to the
“ON” position or the engine switch is
pressed to change the ignition mode to
ON.
11)Check all gauges.
12)Make sure that the BRAKE SYSTEM
WARNING light turns off when the park-
ing brake is released.
Once a week, or each time you fill your fuel
tank, perform the following under-hood
checks:
1) Engine oil level
2) Coolant level
3) Brake fluid level
4) Battery electrolyte level
5) Windshield washer fluid level
6) Hood latch operation
Pull the hood release handle inside the
vehicle. Make sure that you cannot
open the hood all the way without
releasing the secondary latch. Be sure
to close the hood securely after check-
ing for proper latch operation. See theitem “All latches, hinges and locks” of

install the filler cap.
For the approximate capacity of the oil,
refer to the “Capacities” item in the
“SPECIFICATIONS” section.
2) Start the engine and look carefully for
leaks at the oil filter and drain plug. Run
the engine at various speeds for at least
5 minutes.
3) Stop the engine and wait about 5 min-
utes. Check the oil level again and add
oil if necessary. Check for leaks again.

If the coolant level is below the “LOW”
mark, more coolant should be added.
When the engine is cool, remove the
degassing tank cap by turning it anticlock-
wise slowly to release any pressure. And
add coolant until the degassing tank level
reaches the “FULL” mark. Never fill the
degassing tank above the “FULL” mark. & R R O D Q W 5 H S O D F H P H Q WSince special procedures are required, we
recommend you take your vehicle to your

coolant replacement.
$ L U & O H D Q H UIf the air cleaner is clogged with dust, there
will be greater intake resistance, resulting
in decreased power output and increased
fuel consumption.

Unclamp the side clamps and remove the
element from the air cleaner case. If it
appears to be dirty, replace it with a new
one.
Clamp the side clamps securely.

appropriate viscosity and grade as shown
in the chart below.
We highly recommend you use:
