SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Warning
• Smart Engine Start is for vehicles with automatic transmission equipped \
with
Keyless Access and Start system only. Do not use it for manual transmission
vehicles.
• This product is applicable only to vehicles with 12V DC, negative ground\
ing
specifications. Do not use in vehicles with 24V specifications. Otherwis\
e,
damage to the unit or a fire may result.
• Do not allow children to play with remote keyless entry or Smart Engine \
Start
systems. The doors may be locked or unlocked, and the engine may be
started unintentionally.
• If an unusual event occurs, such as liquids spilling onto the product, o\
r the product
emitting smoke or strange odors, stop using it immediately and consult t\
he dealer
from whom you purchased it. Continued use of the product before correcti\
ve
actions are taken may result in an accident, injury, or fire.
• Never pull the plastic bag in which this product is packaged over your h\
ead.
Otherwise, a serious injury or death from suffocation may occur.
• The vehicle must be within view of anyone using Smart Engine Start. Star\
ting the
engine when the vehicle is not in view may result in an accident.

Caution
• Do not use this product for applications other than in-vehicle use. An electric shock
or injury may result.
• Do not operate Smart Engine Start if the Check Engine Light stays on and\
engine
service is required.
• Never attempt to disassemble or modify the product. An accident, fire, or electric
shock may result.
• When replacing fuses, be sure to use fuses with the same specified capac\
ity
(amperage). Otherwise, damage to the unit or vehicle, fire, or electri\
c shock
may result.
• All features may not be applicable to all vehicle models.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Caution
Always shut off the windshield wipers and radio after
parking. If left on, such components may be damaged
by Smart Engine Start in extremely cold weather.
Check that all vehicle windows are closed and all
doors locked after parking.
Caution
Do not start the engine with a car cover still on the
vehicle. The exhaust pipe and exhaust emissions are
capable of starting a fire at high temperatures.
Caution
Avoid using Smart Engine Start when the fuel level is
low. You may run out of fuel and be unable to restart
the engine.
Caution
To help reduce the risk of injury during engine service,
Smart Engine Start will not function while the hood is
open.

OPERATION
SMART ENGINE START ENGINE STARTING PROCEDURE
To start a vehicle with Smart Engine Start, press and release the LOCK bu\
tton twice
within two seconds, then press and hold the LOCK button for three second\
s.
Engine starts successfully
A) Press and release the LOCK button.• The hazard lights flash once.
B) Press and release the LOCK button again. • The hazard lights flash again.
FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY Step 3:
C) Press and hold the LOCK button. • The hazard lights flash 3 times [Car Finder]
• The horn sounds once [Car Finder]
• After three seconds, the horn sounds once.
D) Release the LOCK button.
• The parking lights and hazard lights flash once,
and the horn sounds once.
• The parking lights remain lit until the engine
stops.

OPERATION
SMART ENGINE START ENGINE STOPPING PROCEDURE
Press and hold the LOCK button on the remote for two or more seconds. The parking
lights turn off.


NOTES: • All doors will remain locked after the engine is shut off.
• The hazard lights flash once after the engine is shut off.
AUTOMATIC ENGINE SHUTDOWN
The engine will automatically shut down after a
pre-set amount of time.
To change this setting, please contact your local
SUBARU dealer. In some areas, the use of Smart
Engine Start may violate state, provincial, or local
laws. Check the laws in your area before using
Smart Engine Start.
Smart Engine Start will automatically shut down
or will not start the vehicle’s engine under the
following conditions:

If the total run-time has exceeded 20 minutes.
NOTE: The total run-time can be reset by
opening and closing one of the doors (including
the rear gate).
If any door or the rear gate is opened.

FONCTIONNEMENT
PROCÉDURE DE DÉMARRAGE AVEC SMART ENGINE START
Pour démarrer le véhicule à l’aide de Smart Engine Start, en\
foncer et relâcher le bouton
de verrouillage (« LOCK ») deux fois dans un délai de deux se\
condes, puis enfoncer de
nouveau le bouton pendant trois secondes.
Le moteur est en marche.
A) Enfoncer et relâcher le bouton de verrouillage
(« LOCK »).
• Les feux de détresse clignotent une fois.
B) Enfoncer de nouveau et relâcher le bouton de
verrouillage (« LOCK »).
• Les feux de détresse clignotent de nouveau.
IMMÉDIATEMENT SUIVIE PAR : Étape 3
C) Maintenir enfoncé le bouton de verrouillage
(« LOCK »).
• Les feux de détresse clignotent trois fois
[Retrouver sa voiture]
• L’avertisseur de l’auto retentit une fois
[Retrouver sa voiture]
• Après un délai de trois secondes, l’avertisseur
sonore retentit une fois.
D) Relâcher le bouton de verrouillage (« LOCK »).
• Les feux de stationnement et les feux de détresse
clignotent une fois et l’avertisseur sonore retentit
une fois.
• Les feux de stationnement demeurent allumés
jusqu’à ce que le moteur s’arrête.

FONCTIONNEMENT

Le délai de coupure automatique du moteur varie
en fonction des paramètres programmés.
Pour modifier ce délai, veuillez contacter le
concessionnaire SUBARU de votre région.
Cependant, la législation et les réglementations
locales peuvent interdire la modification du délai
de coupure automatique.
Smart Engine Start coupera automatiquement le
moteur et refusera la commande de démarrage
dans les conditions suivantes :

La durée de fonctionnement totale du moteur
dépasse 20 minutes.
REMARQUE : Pour réinitialiser la durée de
fonctionnement totale, il suffit d’ouvrir et de
fermer l’une des portes (y compris le hayon).
L’une des portes (y compris le hayon) est
ouverte.
