Buttons for front seat heater
The seat backrests and seats can be heated electrically.
The heat output can be adjusted with the ignition on.
The heater is turned on after the engine has started.

Pressing once switches the seat heater on at its maximum level - Level 2.
Press repeatedly to reduce the intensity of the heater until it is switched off.
The level of the seat heater is indicated by the number of illuminated warning
lights in the switch.
WARNINGIf you have subdued pain and/or temperature sensitivity, e.g. through medi-
cation, paralysis or because of chronic illness (e.g. diabetes), we do not rec-
ommend you use the seat heating. Burns that are slow to heal may result.
If the seat heater is used, we recommend to make regular breaks in your
journey when driving long distances, so that the body can recuperate from
the stress of the journey. Please consult your doctor, who can evaluate
your specific condition.
CAUTION
The following instructions must be observed to avoid damage to the seats.■Do not kneel on the seats or otherwise apply concentrated pressure to them.■
Do not turn on any of the seat heaters if seats are not occupied.
■
Do not switch on the relevant seat heating if the seats have objects attached
to or placed on them, for example a child seat, a bag, etc.
■
When there are additional protective covers or protective covers mounted on
each of the seats, do not turn the seat heating on.
Note
■ If the heaters for the rear seats are set to their highest intensity - level 2,
they are automatically switched down to level 1 after 10 minutes.■

Two beverage containers can be placed into the cup holder » Fig. 74.
WARNING■
Do not use cups or beakers made of brittle material (e.g. glass, porcelain).
This could lead to injuries in the event of an accident.■
Never put hot beverage containers in the cup holder. They may spill as
the vehicle moves – there is a risk of scalding.
■
No objects should be placed in the holders that might endanger the vehi-
cle's occupants if the vehicle brakes suddenly or if the vehicle is in collision.
CAUTION
Do not leave open beverage containers in the cup holder during the journey.
There is a risk of spilling e.g. when braking which may cause damage to the
electrical components or seat upholstery.
Cigarette lighter

Use

Press the igniter in as far as the stop » Fig. 75.

Wait until the igniter pops out.
›
Remove the glowing igniter and use immediately.
›
Place the cigarette lighter back into the socket.
WARNING■
The cigarette lighter also works if the ignition is switched off. When leav-
ing the vehicle, never leave people who are not completely independent,
such as children, unattended in the vehicle. They could operate the lighter
and get burned, start a fire or damage the interior.■
Take care when using the cigarette lighter! Improper usage can cause
burns.
Note
The cigarette lighter socket can also be used as a 12-volt socket.
Ashtray

The ashtray can be used for discarding ash, cigarettes, cigars and the like » .
Removing/inserting

When removing, do not hold the ashtray on the cover.

Pull out the ashtray in the direction of the arrow » Fig. 76.
Insertion takes place in reverse order.

Towing device and mounting recessRead and observe
and on page 141 first.
Close the mounting recess with the cap to prevent any ingress of dirt.
In the event of dirt, clean the inner surfaces of the mounting recess and treat with a suitable preservative.
Before hitching a trailer check the ball head and apply a suitable grease where
necessary.
Fit the protective cap when stowing away the ball head to protect the luggage
compartment against dirt.
CAUTION
Apply grease to the inner part of the mounting recess. Make sure you do not
remove any grease.
Under-body protection
Read and observe
and on page 141 first.
The underside of your vehicle is already permanently protected by the factory
against chemical and mechanical influences.
It is not possible to guarantee that the protective coating will not suffer any
damage as the vehicle is driven.
We recommend that you have the protective coating under the body and on
the chassis inspected - preferably before the beginning and at the end of the
cold season.
WARNINGNever use additional underbody protection or anti-corrosion agents for ex-
haust pipes, catalytic converters, diesel particle filters or heat shields.
These substances could ignite when the engine reaches its operating tem-
perature - there is a risk of fire.Wiper blades
Read and observe
and on page 141 first.
Clean the wiper blades regularly with a glass cleaner. The wiper blades shouldbe cleaned with a sponge or cloth if they are heavily soiled by insect residues,
for example.
The wiper blades can become soiled with wax residues after washing in auto-
matic vehicle wash systems for example.

Always keep the automobile care products safe from people who are not
completely independent, e.g. children - there is a danger of poisoning!

Air fresheners and scents can be hazardous to heath when the tempera-
ture inside the vehicle is high.
CAUTION
■ Be sure to check clothing for colourfastness to avoid any damage or visible
stains on the material (leather), panels and textiles.■
Remove fresh stains such as those from ball-point pens, ink, lipstick, shoe
polish, etc., from the material (leather), panels and textiles as quickly as possi-
ble.
■
Do not attach scents and air fresheners to the dashboard – risk of damage to
the dash panel. 
