The Intelligent Key can only beused forstarting the
engine whentheIntelligent Key iswithin thespecified
operating range

When theIntelligent Key battery isalmost discharged
or strong radiowaves arepresent neartheoperating
location, theIntelligent Key system's operating range
becomes narrowerandmay notfunction properly.
If the Intelligent Key iswithin theoperating range,itis
possible foranyone, evensomeone whodoes notcarry
the Intelligent Key ,to push theignition switchtostart
the engine.
. The luggage roomareaisnot included inthe
operating range,buttheIntelligent Keymay
function.
. Ifthe Intelligent Key isplaced onthe instrument
panel, insidetheglove box,door pocket orthe
corner ofthe interior compartment, theIntelligent
K ey may notfunction.
. Ifthe Intelligent Key isplaced nearthedoor or
window outsidethevehicle, theIntelligent Key
may function.
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

The ignition lockisdesigned sothat theignition switch
cannot beswitched tothe ªLOCKº position untilthe
shift lever ismoved tothe ªPº (Park) position. When
pushing theignition switchtothe ªOFFº position, make
sure theshift lever isin the ªPº (Park) position.
When theignition switchcannot beswitched tothe
ªL OCKº position:
1. Move theshift lever tothe ªPº (Park) position.
2. Push theignition switchtothe ªOFFº position.
3. Open thedoor. Theignition switchwillchange to
the ªLOCKº position.
If the ignition switchisswitched tothe ªLOCKº
position, theshift lever cannot bemoved fromtheªPº
(Park) position. Theshift lever canbemoved ifthe
ignition switchisin the ªONº position withthefoot
brake depressed.
STEERING LOCK

T o lock steering wheel

1. Push theignition switchtothe ªOFFº position
where theignition switchposition indicator willnot
illuminate.
2. Open orclose thedoor. Theignition switchturns
to the ªLOCKº position.
3. Turn thesteering wheel1/6ofaturn tothe right or
left from thestraight upposition.
T o unlock steering wheel

Push theignition switch,andthesteering wheelwillbe
automatically unlocked.
CAUTION:
. Ifthe battery ofthe vehicle isdischarged, the
push-button ignitionswitchcannot be
switched fromtheªLOCKº position.
. Ifthe ignition switchposition doesnot
change fromtheªLOCKº position, pushthe
ignition switchagainwhilerotating the
steering wheelslightly tothe right andleft.

the brake pedal (Continuously Variable Transmission
model) orthe clutch pedal(Manual Transmission
model) ,the ignition switchposition willchange as

. Push oncetochange toªACCº .
. Push twotimes tochange toªONº .
. Push three times tochange toªOFFº .
