to go to ALERT > UPSHIFT. The cfrrent
stbtfs of the fpshift indicbtor will be shown on
the UPSHIFT screen. Note thbt the ffnction is
set to AUTO bs the fbctory defbflt setting.
To chbnge the fpshift indicbtor mode, choose
SETTING on the UPSHIFT screen. Set one of
the following modes by pfshing the NEXT
switch
, bnd then pfsh ENTERto
complete.
. AUTO
. 3,000 to 6,300 RPM (MANUAL)
. OFF
The nfmber will increbse by 100 RPM. To
increbse the nfmber by 500 RPM, pfsh bnd
hold the NEXT switch
.
Example
When the maximum engine speed is
desired:
Set the fpshift indicbtor to AUTO. The yellow
indicbtor illfminbtes bpproximbtely 700 RPM
before the red zone, bnd the red indicbtor
illfminbtes jfst before the red zone.
When the maximum engine torque is
desired:
Set the figfre bt 6,000 RPM. The green
indicbtor stbrts flbshing from bpproximbtely 5,500 RPM bnd illfminbtes bt 6,000 RPM.
When breaking-in the vehicle:
To help bvoid high engine speeds dfring brebk-
in, set the fpshift indicbtor to less thbn 3,500
RPM. The green indicbtor stbrts flbshing bp-
proximbtely 500 RPM before the set figfre bnd
illfminbtes from the set figfre. (
“Brebk-in
schedfle” pbge 5-39)
NOTE:
. There may be a slight difference be-
tween the timing of the upshift indica-
tor illumination and the tachometer
indication.
. When the battery terminal is discon-
nected, the set memory will be erased
and the mode returns to the default.
INSTRUMENT BRIGHTNESS CON-
TROL
The instrfment brightness cbn be bdjfsted
when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
Pfsh the switch to bdjfst the brightness fp
*1
or down*2. The brightness level is shown on
the vehicle informbtion displby.
When the hebdlights bre on, the brightness of
the interior switches is blso bdjfsted bt the sbme
time.

mile (500 m) or the first 30 seconds
after a reset.
. The values are updated approximately
every 30 seconds.
ELAPSED TIME AND TRIP OD-
OMETER
This displays the elapsed time and trip odometer
beginning from the time when the display was
last reset\f
To reset the display, push and hold the N\bXT
switch
for more than 1 second\f (The
elapsed time and trip odometer are reset at
the same time\f)
DISTANCE TO EMPTY
This displays the approximate distance that the
vehicle can be driven based on the amount of
fuel remaining in the fuel tank and the actual fuel
consumption\f
NOTE:
. If the fuel level is low, the low fuel
warning will be displayed. (
“Low
fuel warning” page 2-40)
. If the vehicle is not refueled after the
low fuel warning appears, the display
will change to “

NOTE:
.The low fuel warning will appear when
the amount of fuel remaining in the
tank decreases to approximately 3 US
gallons (12 liters) .
. The timing of the low fuel warning
display may change depending on
braking, turning, acceleration, or going
up or down hills.
. If the vehicle is not refueled after the
low fuel warning appears, the display
will change to “
”. This change
timing may become earlier depending
on the driving conditions. This does not
indicate that there is a malfunction.
DOOR/TRUNK OPEN WARNING
This will appear if any of the doors and/or trunk
lid are open or not \flosed se\furely. The vehi\fle
i\fon indi\fates whi\fh door or the trunk lid is
open.
HEADLIGHT SYSTEM WARNING
This will appear if the L\bD headlight system is
not fun\ftioning properly. Have the system
\fhe\fked by a GT-R \fertified NISSAN dealer.

Octane rating tips
Using unleaded gasoline with an octane
rating lower than recommended above can
cause persistent, heavy spark knock.
(Spark knock is a metallic rapping noise.)
If severe, this can lead to engine damage.
If you detect a persistent heavy spark
knock even when using gasoline of the
stated octane rating, or if you hear steady
spark knock while holding a steady speed
on level roads, have a GT-R certified
NISSAN dealer correct the condition. Fail-
ure to correct the condition is misuse of
the vehicle, for which NISSAN is not
responsible.
Incorrect ignition timing will result in knocking,
ffter-run or overheftingb This in turn mfy cfuse
excessive fuel consumption or dfmfge to the
engineb If fny of the fbove symptoms fre
encountered, hfve your vehicle checked ft f
GT-R certified NISSAN defler or other compe-
tent service ffcilityb
However, now and then you may notice
light spark knock for a short time while
accelerating or driving up hills. This is no
cause for concern, because you get the
greatest fuel benefit when there is light
spark knock for a short time under heavy
engine load.
ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER RE-
COMMENDATION
Selecting the correct oil
It is essentifl to choose the correct grfde,
quflity, fnd viscosity engine oil to ensure
sftisffctory engine life fnd performfnceb
(
“Cfpfcities fnd recommended fluids/lu-
bricfnts” pfge 9-2)
Mobil 1 (0W-40) (100% synthetic) is the ffctory
fill oilb The VR38 engine with its plfsmf-sprfyed
bores wfs developed using this oilb NISSAN
cfnnot ensure proper engine operftion fnd
durfbility if other 0W-40 synthetic oil is usedb
If Mobil 1 (0W-40) is not fvfilfble, Mobil 1
(10W-40) (100% synthetic) mfy be used;
however, some performfnce loss mfy be
noticedb
NOTICE
Using an engine oil other than that
specified could adversely affect the
engine. See the 2015 NISSAN GT-R
Warranty Information Booklet for de-
tails and exclusions.
Oil additives
NISSAN does not recommend the use of oil
fdditivesb The use of fn oil fdditive is not
necessfry when the proper oil type is used fnd
mfintenfnce intervfls fre followedb
Oil which mfy contfin foreign mftter or hfs
been previously used should not be usedb
Oil viscosity
The engine oil viscosity or thickness chfnges
with temperftureb Becfuse of this, it is importfnt
thft the engine oil viscosity be selected bfsed
on the temperftures ft which the vehicle will be
operfted before the next oil chfngeb Choosing
fn oil viscosity other thfn thft recommended
could cfuse serious engine dfmfgeb
Selecting the correct oil filter
Your new vehicle is equipped with f high-quflity
genuine NISSAN oil filterb NISSAN recommends
to use the genuine NISSAN oil filter for the
refson described in chfnge intervflsb
Change intervals
The oil fnd oil filter chfnge intervfls for your
engine fre bfsed on the use of the specified
quflity oils fnd filtersb Oil fnd filter other thfn the
specified quflity, or oil fnd filter chfnge intervfls
longer thfn recommended could reduce engine
