SRS Air Bags
Front Passenger Air Bag Deactivation Switch *
WARNING
Do not deactivate the front passenger air bag unnecessarily:
Unnecessary deactivation of the front passenger air bag is dangerous. If turned off
unnecessarily, the front passenger will not receive the added protection of the air bag.
Serious injuries or even death could occur. With the exception of installing a child-
restraint system on the front passenger seat, do not turn the air bag deactivation switch
to the OFF position.
The front passenger air bag deactivation switch should be used to deactivate the front
passenger front and side air bags and also the front passenger seat belt pretensioner system
if installing a child-restraint system on the front passenger seat.

Front passenger front air bag, side air bag, and front passenger seat belt pretensioner
operate. Activate the system only when a child-restraint system is not installed on the front
passenger seat.
Switching to ON position
1. Insert the key into the front passenger air bag deactivation switch and turn the key
anticlockwise until the key points to ON.
2. Remove the key.
3. Make sure the air bag deactivation indicator light remains illuminated when the ignition
is switched ON. The air bag deactivation indicator light turns off after a short period of
time.

Doors and Locks
Rear Door Child Safety Locks
These locks are intended to help prevent
children from accidentally opening the
rear doors. Use them on both rear doors
whenever a child rides in the rear seat of
the vehicle.
If you slide the child safety lock to the
lock position before closing that door, the
door cannot be opened from the inside.
The door can only be opened by pulling
the outside handle.

Liftgate
WARNING
Never allow a person to ride in the
luggage compartment:
Allowing a person to ride in the
luggage compartment is dangerous.
The person in the luggage
compartment could be seriously injured
or killed during sudden braking or a
collision.
Do not drive with the liftgate open:
Exhaust gas in the cabin of a vehicle
is dangerous. An open liftgate in a
moving vehicle will cause exhaust gas
to be drawn into the cabin. This gas
contains CO (carbon monoxide), which
is colourless, odourless, and highly
poisonous, and it can cause loss of
consciousness and death. Moreover, an
open liftgate could cause occupants to
fall out in an accident.
Do not stack or leave loaded
luggage unsecured in the luggage
compartment:
Otherwise, the luggage may move
or collapse, resulting in injury or an
accident. In addition, do not load
luggage higher than the seatbacks. It
may affect the side or rear fi eld of view.

Signal Warning Action to be taken
Seat Belt Warning
Light (Front seat) The seat belt warning light turns on if the
driver or front passenger's seat is occupied
and the seat belt is not fastened with the
ignition switched ON.
If the driver or front passenger's seat belt is
unfastened (only when the front passenger
seat is occupied) and the vehicle is driven at
a speed faster than about 20 km/h (12 mph),
the warning light fl ashes. After a short time,
the warning light stops fl ashing, but remains
illuminated. If a seat belt remains unfastened,
the warning light fl ashes again for a given
period of time.
NOTE
If the driver or front passenger's seat belt
is unfastened after the warning light turns
on, and the vehicle speed exceeds 20
km/h (12 mph), the warning light fl ashes
again.
Placing heavy items on the front
passenger's seat may cause the front
passenger's seat belt warning function
to operate depending on the weight of
the item.
To allow the front passenger's seat weight
sensor to function properly, do not place
and sit on an additional seat cushion on
the front passenger's seat. The sensor
may not function properly because the
additional seat cushion could cause
sensor interference.
If a small child is seated on the front
passenger's seat, the warning light may
not operate. Fasten the seat belts.

Seat Belt Warning
Light (Rear seat)

If the rear seat belts are not fastened while the
ignition is switched ON , the driver and the
passenger are alerted by the warning light.
The warning light operates even if there is no
passenger on the rear seat.
NOTE
If a rear seat belt is not fastened by a
certain period of time after the engine has
been started, the warning light turns off. Fasten the seat belts.

warning beep will not operate.
Rear seat

The warning beep only sounds if a seat
belt is unfastened after being fastened.
Ignition Not Switched Off (STOP)
Warning Beep
If the driver's door is opened while
the ignition is switched to ACC, a
continuous beep sound will be heard to
notify the driver that the ignition has not
been switched off (STOP). Left in this
condition, the keyless entry system will
not operate, the car cannot be locked, and
the battery power will be depleted.
Key Removed from Vehicle
Warning Beep
A beep sound will be heard 6 times and
the KEY warning light (red) will fl ash
continuously if the ignition has not been
switched off, all the doors are closed, and
the key is removed from the vehicle. This
is to notify the driver that the key has been
removed from the vehicle and the ignition
has not been switched off.
NOTE
Because the key utilizes low-intensity
radio waves, the Key Removed From
Vehicle Warning may activate if the key
is carried together with a metal object
or it is placed in a poor signal reception
area.
Request Switch Inoperable
Warning Beep (With the advanced
keyless function)
If the request switch is pressed with a door
open or ajar or the ignition has not been
switched off while the key is being carried,
a beep will be heard for about 2 seconds
to indicate that the doors and the liftgate
cannot be locked.
