Owner Maintenance
If a tyre wears evenly, a wear indicator
will appear as a solid band across the
tread.
Replace the tyre when this happens.

You should replace the tyre before the
band crosses the entire tread.
After adjusting the tyre pressure,
initialization of the tyre pressure
monitoring system is necessary to make
the system operate normally.

Temporary Spare Tyre *
Inspect the temporary spare tyre at least
monthly to make sure it is properly
infl ated and stored.
NOTE
The temporary spare tyre condition
gradually deteriorates even if it has not
been used.
The temporary spare tyre is easier to
handle because of its construction which
is lighter and smaller than a conventional
tyre. This tyre should be used only for an
emergency and only for a short distance. Use the temporary spare tyre only until
the conventional tyre is repaired, which
should be as soon as possible.
Refer to Tyre on page 9-13 .
CAUTION
  Do not use your temporary spare
tyre rim with a snow tyre or a
conventional tyre. Neither will
properly fi t and could damage both
tyre and rim.
  The temporary spare tyre has a tread
life of less than 5,000 km (3,000
miles). The tread life may be shorter
depending on driving conditions.
  The temporary spare tyre is for
limited use, however, if the tread
wear solid-band indicator appears,
replace the tyre with the same type of
temporary spare (page 6-48 ).
Replacing a Wheel

Always use wheels of the correct size
on your vehicle:
Using a wrong-sized wheel is
dangerous. Braking and handling
could be affected, leading to loss of
control and an accident.

 Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
When replacing a wheel, make sure the
new one is the same as the original factory
wheel in diameter, rim width, and offset
(inset/outset).
Proper tyre balancing provides the best
riding comfort and helps reduce tread
wear. Out-of-balance tyres can cause
vibration and uneven wear, such as
cupping and fl at spots.

Flat Tyre
Changing a Flat Tyre
(With spare tyre)
NOTE
If the following occurs while driving, it
could indicate a fl at tyre.


 Steering becomes diffi cult. 
 The vehicle begins to vibrate
excessively.
  The vehicle pulls in one direction.

If you have a fl at tyre, drive slowly to a
level spot that is well off the road and out
of the way of traffi c to change the tyre.
Stopping in traffi c or on the shoulder of a
busy road is dangerous.
WARNING
Be sure to follow the directions for
changing a tyre:
Changing a tyre is dangerous if not
done properly. The vehicle can slip off
the jack and seriously injure someone.
No person should place any portion
of their body under a vehicle that is
supported by a jack.
Never allow anyone inside a vehicle
supported by a jack:
Allowing someone to remain in
a vehicle supported by a jack is
dangerous. The occupant could cause
the vehicle to fall resulting in serious
injury.
NOTE
Make sure the jack is well lubricated
before using it.
1. Park on a level surface off the right-of-
way and fi rmly set the parking brake.
2. Put a vehicle with an automatic
transaxle in Park (P), a manual
transaxle in Reverse (R) or 1, and turn
off the engine.
3. Turn on the hazard warning fl asher.
4. Have everyone get out of the vehicle
and away from the vehicle and traffi c.
5. Remove the jack, tool, and spare tyre
(page 7-3 ).
6. Block the wheel diagonally opposite
the fl at tyre. When blocking a wheel,
place a tyre block both in front and
behind the tyre.
NOTE
When blocking a tyre, use rocks or
wood blocks of suffi cient size if possible
to hold the tyre in place.

The warning light fl ashes when the system has a malfunction. Have your vehicle inspected
at an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer.
The LDWS does not operate when the warning light fl ashes.
CAUTION
If any of the following cases occurs, the system may have a malfunction. Have the
vehicle inspected at an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer.
The light fl ashes while the vehicle is being driven. The light does not illuminate when the ignition is switched ON. Always use tyres for all wheels that are of the specifi ed size, and the same
manufacture, brand, and tread pattern. In addition, do not use tyres with signifi cantly
different wear patterns on the same vehicle. If such improper tyres are used, the
LDWS may not operate normally.
When an emergency spare tyre is used, the system may not operate normally.

This indicator light stays on for a few seconds when the ignition is switched ON.
Thereafter, the indicator light will illuminate when the headlight auto-levelling system has
a malfunction.
If the indicator light illuminates, contact an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised
Mazda Repairer.
NOTE
Vehicles with the adaptive front lighting system (AFS) are not equipped with the
headlight auto-levelling malfunction indicator light. If there is a malfunction with the
headlight auto-levelling function, the AFS OFF indicator light fl ashes.

The warning light illuminates if the area of the windscreen in front of the forward sensing
camera (FSC) is fogged or obstructed.
When fl ashing
This light fl ashes if there is a malfunction in the high beam control system (HBC). Have
your vehicle inspected by an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer.
