Exhaust gas precautions
Harmful substance to the human body is included in exhaust gases if inhaled.
WA R N I N G
Exhaust gases include harmful carbon monoxi de (CO), which is colorless and odorless.
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause exhaust gases enter the vehicle and may lead to an accident
caused by light-headedness, or may lead to death or a serious health hazard.
■Important points while driving
●Keep the trunk lid closed.
●If you smell exhaust gases in the vehicle ev en when the trunk lid is closed, open the
windows and have the vehicle inspected at your Lexus dealer as soon as possible.
■When parking
●If the vehicle is in a poorly ventilated area or a closed area, such as a garage, stop the
engine.
●Do not leave the vehicle with the engine on for a long time.
If such a situation cannot be avoided, park the vehicle in an open space and ensure
that exhaust fumes do not enter the vehicle interior.
●Do not leave the engine running in an area with snow build-up, or where it is snowing.
If snowbanks build up around the vehicle wh ile the engine is running, exhaust gases
may collect and enter the vehicle.
■Exhaust pipe
The exhaust system needs to be checked periodically. If there is a hole or crack caused
by corrosion, damage to a joint or abnormal exhaust noise, be sure to have the vehicle
inspected and repaired by your Lexus dealer.

●TVD (Torque Vectoring Differential) control mode indicators (RC F)
*1: These lights turn on when the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode toindicate that a system check is being perfor med. They will turn off after the engine is
on, or after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction in a system if a light does not
come on, or turn off. Have the vehi cle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
*2: The light flashes to indicate that the system is operating.
*3: The light comes on when the system is turn ed off. The light will flash quickly when the
system is operating.
*4: In order to confirm operation, the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators illuminate in the following situations:
• When the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode while the BSM main
switch is turned on.
• When the BSM main switch is turned on while the engine swit ch is in IGNITION
ON mode.
If the system is functioning correctly, the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators will
turn off after a few seconds.
If the BSM outside rear view mirror indica tors do not illuminate or do not turn off,
there may be a malfunction in the system.
If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
*5: When the outside temperature is approximately 37 F (3 C) or lower, the indicator
will flash for approximately 10 seconds, then stay on.
*6: This light illuminates on the outside rear view mirrors.
*7: This light illuminates on the center panel.

■Instrument panel brightness adjustment
The instrument panel brig htness levels when the tail ligh ts are on and off can be adjusted
individually. However, when the surroundings ar e bright (daytime, etc.), turning on the tail
lights will not change the instru ment panel brightness. At this time, any adjustments made
to the instrument panel bright ness levels will be applied to both settings at once.
■Dimming the analog speedometer lighting
The analog speedometer lighting will be dimm ed when the ambient light is bright, such
as during the daytime, and SPORT S or SPORT S+ mode is selected.
■Outside temperature display
●In the following situations, the correct outside temperature may not be displayed, or the
display may take longer than normal to change.
• When stopped, or driving at low speeds (less than 12 mph [20 km/h])
• When the outside temperature has change d suddenly (at the entrance/exit of a
garage, tunnel, etc.)
●When “ ” or “E” is displayed, the system may be malfunctioning.
Take your vehicle to your Lexus dealer.
■Pop-up display
●In some situations, such as when a switch operation is pe rformed, a pop-up display will
be temporarily displayed on the multi-information display.
●Some pop-up displays can be set on/off. ( P. 1 1 9 )
■Liquid crystal display
Small spots or light spots may appear on the display. This phenomenon is characteristic
of liquid crystal displays, and there is no problem continuing to use the display.
■Customization
The meter display can be customized on the multi-information display. (P. 1 1 0 )
NOTICE
■To prevent damage to the engine and its components
●Do not let the indicator of the tachometer enter the red zone, as it represents the
engine speed range which exceeds the maximum safe engine speed.
●In the following situations, the engine may be overheating. In this case, immediately
stop the vehicle in a safe place, and check the engine after it has cooled completely.

• The engine coolant temperature gauge indi cator ( ) is in the red zone and flash-
ing.
• The engine oil temperature gauge indicato r ( ) is in the red zone and flashing.

■Tr u n k l i g h t
●The trunk light turns on when the trunk is opened.
●If the trunk light is left on when the engine switch is turned off, the light will go off auto-
matically after 20 minutes.
■Function to prevent the trunk being lo cked with the electronic key inside
●When both side doors are locked, closing the trunk lid with the electronic key left inside
the trunk will sound an alarm.
In this case, the trunk lid can be opened by pressing the trunk release button on the
trunk lid.
●If the spare electronic key is put in the tr unk with both side doors locked, the key con-
finement prevention function is activated so the trunk can be opened. In order to pre-
vent theft, take all electronic keys with you when leaving the vehicle.
●If the electronic key is put in the trunk with both side doors locked, the key may not be
detected depending on the location of the key and the surrounding radio wave condi-
tions. In this case, the key confinement prevention function cannot be activated, causing
the doors to lock when the trunk is closed. Make sure to check where the key is before
closing the trunk.
●The key confinement prevention function cannot be activated if either door is unlocked.
In this case, open the trunk using the trunk opener.

■Using the mechanical key
The trunk can be also opened using the mechanical key. ( P. 5 9 1 )
■If the smart access system with push-butto n start or the wireless remote control does
not operate properly
Use the mechanical key to unlock the trunk. ( P. 5 9 1 )
Replace the key battery with a new one if it is depleted. ( P. 5 0 7 )

The trunk lid can be open
ed by pulling the glow-
in-the-dark lever located on the inside of the
trunk lid upward.
The lever will continue to glow for some time
after the trunk lid is closed.

■The moon roof can be operated when
The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
■Operating the moon roof after turning the engine off
The moon roof can be operated for approximately 45 seconds after the engine switch is
turned to ACCESSORY mode or turned off. It cannot, however, be operated once either
door is opened.
■Jam protection function
If an object is detected between the moon roof and the frame while the moon roof is clos-
ing or tilting down, travel is stoppe d and the moon roof opens slightly.
■Sunshade
The sunshade can be opened and closed manually. However, the sunshade will open
automatically when the moon roof is opened.
■Door lock linked moon roof operation
●The moon roof can be opened and closed using the mechanical key.* ( P. 5 9 1 )
●The moon roof can be opened us ing the wireless remote control.* ( P. 1 3 5 )
*: These settings must be cust omized at your Lexus dealer.
■If the moon roof does not close normally
Perform the following procedure:
Stop the vehicle.
Press and hold the “CLOSE” switch.
*
The moon roof will close, reopen and pause for approximately 10 seconds. Then it will
close again and stop at the completely closed position.
Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the
switch.
*: If the switch is released at the incorrect time, the procedure will have to be performed
again from the beginning.
If the moon roof does not fully close even after performing the above procedure cor-
rectly, have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
