■ If you notice any symptoms
If you notice any of the following symptoms, refer to the likely cause
and the solution, and re-check.
If the symptom is not resolved by the solution, have the vehicle
inspected by your Lexus dealer. Symptom Likely cause Solution
The image is difficult to
see • The vehicle is in a dark
area
•The temperature
around the lens is either
high or low
• The outside tempera-
ture is low
• There are water drop-
lets on the camera
• It is raining or humid
• Foreign matter (mud
etc.) is adhering to the
camera
• There are scratches on
the camera
• Sunlight or headlights
are shining directly into
the camera
• The vehicle is under flu-
orescent lights, sodium
lights, mercury lights
etc. If this happens due to
these causes, it does not
indicate a malfunction.
Back up while visually
checking the vehicle’s
surroundings. (Use the
monitor again once con-
ditions have been
improved.)

The area covered by the camera is limited . Objects which are close to either corner
of the bumper or under the bumper cannot be seen on the screen.
The area displayed on the screen may vary according to vehicle orientation or road
conditions. ■

In the following cases, it may be difficult to see the images on the screen, even when
the system is functioning correctly.
• In the dark (e.g. at night).
• If the temperature near the lens is extremely high or low.
• If water droplets get on the camera, or when humidity is high (e.g. when it rains).
• If foreign matter (e.g. snow or mud) get on the camera lens.
• If the sun or headlights are shining directly into the camera lens.

Smear effect
■
Flicker effect
When the camera is used under fluorescen t lights, sodium lights, or mercury lights
etc., the lights and the illuminated areas may appear to flicker.
CAUTION■
When using the wide view front & side monitor system
Observe the following precautions to avoid an accident that could result in death or
serious injuries. ●
Never depend solely on the monitor system. ●
Always check visually to confir m your intended path is clear.●
Depicted distances between objects and flat surfaces differ from actual dis-
tances. ●
Do not use the system if the hood or th e front passenger’s door is not completely
closed. If a bright light (for example, sunlight
reflected off the vehicle body) is picked up by
the camera, a smear effect
* peculiar to the
camera may occur.
* : Smear effect – A phenomenon that occurs
when a bright light (for example, sunlight
reflected off the vehicle body) is picked up
by the camera; when transmitted by the
camera, the light source appears to have a
vertical streak above and below it. The
vertical streak also appears in the masked
areas.

Advice for driving on slippery roads ●
If you shift the four-wheel drive control switch to “L4” and the shift lever to the
“2” range of “S” or “D” (vehicles with paddle shift switches) while driving in
steep off-road areas, the output of the brake can be controlled effectively by the
Active TRAC, which assists the driver to control the driving power of 4 wheels. ●
Use the “1” range of “S” or “D” (vehicles with paddle shift switches) of the shift
lever for maximum power and traction wh en your wheels get stuck or when
driving down a steep incline.■
The center differential lock indicator light
The indicator light blinks while lock ing/unlocking the center differential.■
The center differential lock/unlock switch can be operated when ●
The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode.●
The vehicle speed is less than 60 mph (100 km/h).■
Locking/unlocking the center differential ●
When the four-wheel drive control switch is in L4 with the center differential
locked, VSC is automatically turned off. (The center differential lock and VSC
OFF indicator lights come on.) ●
If the operation is not completed, the center differential lock indicator blinks. If
the indicator light does not turn off when unlocking the center differential, drive
straight ahead while accelerating or decelerating, or drive in reverse. ●
If the center differential lock/unlock is not completed within 5 seconds while
the cruise control system is on, cancel the cruise control system.

Sounds and vibrations caused by the Crawl Control system ●
A sound may be heard from the engine compartment when the engine is
started or just after the vehicle begins to move. This sound does not indicate that
a malfunction has occurred in Crawl Control system. ●
Either of the following conditions may occur when the Crawl Control system is
operating. None of these are indicat ors that a malfunction has occurred.
• Vibrations may be felt through the vehicle body and steering.
• A motor sound may be heard after the vehicle comes to a stop.■
When there is a malfunction in the system
Warning lights and/or warning messages will turn on. ( P. 827, 852)
CAUTION■
When using Crawl Control and Turn Assist function
Do not rely solely on the Crawl Control an d Turn Assist function. This function does
not extend the vehicle’s performance limi tations. Always thoroughly check the
road conditions, and drive safely. ■
These conditions may cause the system not to operate properly
When driving on the following surfaces, th e system may not be able to maintain a
fixed low speed, which may result in an accident:●
Extremely steep inclines. ●
Extremely uneven surfaces. ●
Snow-covered roads, or other slippery surfaces.
NOTICE■
When using Turn Assist function
The Turn Assist function is a function to assist turning performance when driving off
road. The function may be less effective on paved road surfaces.

LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) When the VSC/Trailer Sway Cont rol/Active TRAC/hill-start assist
control systems are operating
The slip indicator light flashes to
indicate that the VSC/Trailer
Sway Control/Active TRAC/hill-
start assist control systems have
been engaged. The stop lights and high mounted
stoplight turn on when the hill-start
assist control system or Trailer
Sway Control is operating.■ Trailer Sway Control Helps the driver to control trailer sway by selectively applying brake pres-
sure for individual wheels and reducing engine torque when trailer sway is
detected.
Trailer Sway Control is part of th e VSC system and will not operate if
VSC turned off or expe riences a malfunction.
