■ Fluid level
The fluid level should be within the appropriate range.
Full (when cold)

Hot: Vehicle has been driven arou nd 50 mph (80 km/h) for 20 min-
utes, or slightly longer in fr igid temperatures. (Fluid tempera-
ture, 140  F - 175  F [60  C - 80  C]).
Cold: Engine has not been run for about five hours. (Room tempera-
ture, 50  F - 85  F [10  C - 30  C]).
■ Checking the fluid level
Make sure to check the fluid type and prepare the necessary items.
Clean all dirt off the reservoir.
Remove the cap by turning it counterclockwise.
Wipe the dipstick clean.
Reinstall and remove the reservoir cap again.

Situations needs to contact dealers before towing
The following may indicate a probl em with your transmission. Contact
your Lexus dealer or a commercial towing service before towing.
● The engine is running, but the vehicle will not move.
● The vehicle makes an abnormal sound.
Towing with a sling-type truck
Do not tow with a sling-type truck
to prevent body damage.If towing is necessary, we recommend having your vehicle towed by your
Lexus dealer or a commercial towing service, using a lift-type truck or flat-
bed truck.
Use a safety chain system for all towi ng, and abide by all state/provincial
and local laws.
If towing your vehicle wi th a wheel-lift type truck, use a towing dolly.

When attempting to free a stuck vehicle
If you choose to push the vehicle back and forth to free it, make sure the surround-
ing area is clear, to avoid striking other vehicles, objects or people. The vehicle may
also lunge forward or lunge back sudden ly as it becomes free. Use extreme cau-
tion. ■
When shifting the shift lever
Be careful not to shift th e shift lever with the acc elerator pedal depressed.
This may lead to unexpected rapid acceleration of the vehicle that may cause an
accident resulting in de ath or serious injury.
NOTICE■
To avoid damaging the transm ission and other components●
Avoid spinning the rear wheels and depr essing the accelera tor pedal more than
necessary. ●
If the vehicle remains stuck even after these procedures are performed, the vehi-
cle may require towing to be freed. ●
When a warning message for the automatic transmission fluid temperature is dis-
played while attempting to free a stuck vehicle, immediately remove your foot
from the accelerator pedal and wait until the warning message disappears. Oth-
erwise, the transm ission may become damaged. (  P. 843)
