Your vehicle has a maintenance-free,
calcium-based battery.
 If the battery becomes discharged in a
short time (because, for example, the
headlights or interior lights were left on
whilst the vehicle was not in use),
recharge it by slow charging (trickle)
for 10 hours.
 If the battery gradually discharges because of high electric load whilst the
vehicle is being used, recharge it at 20-
30A for two hours.

 The electrical ignition systemworks with high voltage. Never
touch these components with theengine running or the ignition
switched on.
Failure to follow the above warn-
ings can result in serious bodily
injury or death.
CAUTION
 When you don’t use the vehicle for a long time in the low temper-ature area, separate the battery
and keep it indoors.
 Always charge the battery fully to prevent battery case damage inlow temperature area.
 If you connect unauthorised elec- tric devices to the battery, the bat-tery may be discharged. Never use unauthorised devices.

Compact spare tyre replacement (if equipped)
A compact spare tyre has a shorter
tread life than a regular size tyre.
Replace it when you can see the
tread wear indicator bars on the tyre.The replacement compact spare tyre
should be the same size and design
tyre as the one provided with your
new vehicle and should be mountedon the same compact spare tyre
wheel. The compact spare tyre is notdesigned to be mounted on a regular
size wheel, and the compact spare
tyre wheel is not designed for mount-
ing a regular size tyre. Wheel replacement
When replacing the metal wheels for
any reason, make sure the new
wheels are equivalent to the original
factory units in diameter, rim widthand offset.
Tyre traction
Tyre traction can be reduced if you
drive on worn tyres, tyres that are
improperly inflated or on slippery
road surfaces. Tyres should be
replaced when tread wear indicators
appear. Slow down whenever there
is rain, snow or ice on the road, toreduce the possibility of losing con-
trol of the vehicle.
Tyre maintenance In addition to proper inflation, correct wheel alignment helps decrease tyre
wear. If you find a tyre worn uneven-
ly, have your dealer check the wheelalignment.
When you have new tyres installed,
make sure they are balanced. This
will increase vehicle ride comfort and
tyre life. Additionally, a tyre should
always be rebalanced if it is removedfrom the wheel.

A wheel that is not the correct
size may adversely affect wheel
and bearing life, braking and
stopping abilities, handling
characteristics, ground clear-
ance, body-to-tyre clearance,
snow chain clearance,speedometer and odometer cal-
ibration, headlight aim and
bumper height.

Tyre sidewall labeling
This information identifies and
describes the fundamental charac-
teristics of the tyre and also provides
the tyre identification number (TIN)
for safety standard certification. TheTIN can be used to identify the tyre incase of a recall.
1. Manufacturer or brand name
Manufacturer or Brand name is
shown.
2. Tyre size designation
A tyre’s sidewall is marked with a tyre
size designation. You will need this
information when selecting replace-
ment tyres for your car. The following
explains what the letters and num-
bers in the tyre size designationmean.
Example tyre size designation:
(These numbers are provided as an
example only; your tyre size designa-
tor could vary depending on your
vehicle.) P205/55R16 91H
P - Applicable vehicle type (tyres
marked with the prefix “P’’ are
intended for use on passenger
cars or light trucks; however, not
all tyres have this marking).
205 - Tyre width in millimeters.
55 - Aspect ratio. The tyre’s section height as a percentage of its width.
R - Tyre construction code (Radial).
16 - Rim diameter in inches. 91 - Load Index, a numerical code
associated with the maximum
load the tyre can carry.
H - Speed Rating Symbol. See the speed rating chart in this section
for additional information.
Wheel size designation
Wheels are also marked with impor-
tant information that you need if you
ever have to replace one. The follow-
ing explains what the letters and
numbers in the wheel size designa-tion mean.
Example wheel size designation: 6.0JX16
6.0 - Rim width in inches. J - Rim contour designation.
16 - Rim diameter in inches.

Temperature -A, B & C
The temperature grades are A (the
highest), B, and C, representing the
tyre’s resistance to the generation ofheat and its ability to dissipate heatwhen tested under controlled condi-
tions on a specified indoor laboratorytest wheel.
Sustained high temperature can
cause the material of the tyre to
degenerate and reduce tyre life, and
excessive temperature can lead to
sudden tyre failure. Grades B and A
represent higher levels of perform-
ance on the laboratory test wheel
than the minimum required by law.Low aspect ratio tyre (if equipped)
Low aspect ratio tyres, whose aspect
ratio is lower than 50, are provided
for sporty looks.
Because the low aspect ratio tyres
are optimized for handling and brak-
ing, it may be more uncomfortable to
ride in and there is more noise com-
pare with normal tyres.
WARNING
- Tyre
temperature
The temperature grade for this
tyre is established for a tyre that
is properly inflated and not over-
loaded. Excessive speed, under-
inflation, or excessive loading,
either separately or in combina-
tion, can cause heat build-up
and sudden tyre failure. This can
cause loss of vehicle control
and serious injury or death.
CAUTION
Because the sidewall of the low aspect ratio tyre is shorter thanthe normal, the wheel and tyre of the low aspect ratio tyre iseasier to be damaged. So, followthe instructions below.
- When driving on a rough road or off road, drive cautiouslybecause tyres and wheels maybe damaged. And after driving, inspect tyres and wheels.
- When passing over a pothole, speed bump, manhole, or kerbstone, drive slowly so that thetyres and wheels are not dam- aged.

- To prevent damage to the tyre, inspect the tyre condition andpressure every 3,000km.
CAUTION
 It is not easy to recognize the tyre damage with your owneyes. But if there is the slight- est hint of tyre damage, eventhough you cannot see thetyre damage with your own eyes, have the tyre checked orreplaced because the tyredamage may cause air leak- age from the tyre.
 If the tyre is damaged by driv- ing on a rough road, off road,pothole, manhole, or kerbstone, it will not be covered by the warranty.

FUSES
A vehicle’s electrical system is protected
from electrical overload damage by
fuses. This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels, one
located in the driver’s side panel bolster,
the other in the engine compartment
near the battery.
If any of your vehicle’s lights, acces-
sories, or controls do not work, check the
appropriate circuit fuse. If the fuse is dis-
connected, every electrical system pro-
tected by the fuse will not operate.
Therefore, you must change the fuse. If
the electrical system does not work, first
check the driver’s side fuse panel.
Always replace a blown fuse with one of
the same rating.
Before replacing a blown fuse, disconnect
the negative battery cable.
If the replacement fuse blows, this indi-
cates an electrical problem. Avoid using
the system involved and we recommend
that you consult an authorised Kia deal-
er.
Three kinds of fuses are used: blade type
for lower amperage rating, cartridge typeand multi fuse for higher amperage rat-
ings.

Instrument panel fuse replace- ment
1. Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off.
2. Open the fuse panel cover. 3. Pull the suspected fuse straight out.
Use the removal tool provided in the
engine compartment fuse panel cover.
4. Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown.
5. Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly in the clips.
If it fits loosely, we recommend that you
consult an authorised Kia dealer.
If you do not have a spare, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit you may
not need for operating the vehicle, suchas the cigarette lighter fuse.
If the headlights or other electrical com-
ponents do not work and the fuses are
OK, check the fuse panel in the engine
compartment. If a fuse is blown, it mustbe replaced.

 When replacing a blown fuse or
relay with a new one, make surethe new fuse or relay fits tightly into the clips The incomplete fas-tening fuse or relay may cause the
vehicle wiring and electric systems damage and a possible fire.
 Do not remove fuses, relays and terminals fastened with bolts or
nuts. The fuses, relays and termi-nals may be fastened incompletely, and it may cause a possible fire. Iffuses, relays and terminals fas-
tened with bolts or nuts are blown, we recommend that you consultwith an authorised Kia dealer.
 Do not plug a driver or a home- made wiring system into the fuse
and relay terminal. It may cause damage to the entire electrical andwiring system of the vehicle interi-or and start a fire.

Memory fuse
Your vehicle is equipped with a memory
fuse to prevent battery discharge if your
vehicle is parked without being operated
for prolonged periods. Use the following
procedures before parking the vehicle for
prolonged periods.
1. Turn off the engine.
2. Turn off the headlights and tail lights.
3. Open the driver’s side panel cover and
pull up the memory fuse.
✽✽ NOTICE
 If the memory fuse is pulled up from the fuse panel, the warning chime,
audio, clock and interior lamps, etc.,
will not operate. Some items must be
reset after replacement. Refer to
“Battery” in this section.
 Even though the memory fuse is
pulled up, the battery can still be dis-
charged by operation of the head-
lights or other electrical devices.
Engine compartment panel fuse replacement
1. Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off.
2. Remove the fuse box cover by press- ing the tab and pulling up the cover.
