Service Plug (Safety Plug) /
12V Battery Compartment
Hybrid Battery Vent (Air Intake)
The Hybrid Battery Vent, located behind the
rear seats, is used to cool down the hybrid battery . For safety
reasons, this vent should never be blocked . Doing so may
cause the battery to overheat .
PRECAUTION: Never clean the battery vent with a WET cloth or spill liquid over the air intake . This could cause an electric shock, which could cause serious damage, injury or death .
CAUTION: Wait 5 minutes after plug is disconnected to ensure all remaining charge has dissipated .
CAUTION: These components are connected to the hybrid battery system . Avoid touching the service plug or the wires, cables and connectors for these components, as it may cause severe burns or electric shock .
Service Plug A — The service plug is located within the trunk compartment .
Service of the hybrid system should be performed by a Kia trained service
technician .
12V Battery Compartment B — The battery is located in the trunk for hybrid
models and should be kept securely mounted .
