Turn signal indicator
The blinking green arrows on the instru-
ment panel show the direction indicated
by the turn signals. If the arrow comes on
but does not blink, blinks more rapidly
than normal, or does not illuminate at all,
it indicates a malfunction in the turn sig-
nal system. You should consult your deal-
er for repairs.

High beam indicator
This indicator illuminates when the head- lights are on and in the high beam posi-
tion or when the turn signal lever is pulled

Light on indicator (if equipped)

Engine oil pressure
warning light
This warning light indicates the engine oil
pressure is low.
If the warning light illuminates while driv- ing:
1. Drive safely to the side of the road and stop.
2. With the engine off, check the engine oil level. If the level is low, add oil as required.
If the warning light remains on after
adding oil or if oil is not available, call an
authorized Kia dealer.
CAUTION
If the engine is not stopped imme- diately after the engine oil pressurewarning light is illuminated, severe
damage could result.
CAUTION
If the oil pressure warning light stays on while the engine is run-
ning, serious engine damage may result. The oil pressure warninglight comes on whenever there isinsufficient oil pressure. In normal
operation, it should come on whenthe ignition switch is turned on, then go out when the engine is
started. If the oil pressure warning light stays on while the engine isrunning, there is a serious malfunc-tion.
If this happens, stop the vehicle assoon as it is safe to do so, turn offthe engine and check the oil level. If the oil level is low, fill the engine oilto the proper level and start the
engine again. If the light stays onwith the engine running, turn theengine off immediately. In any instance where the oil light stays on
when the engine is running, theengine should be checked by an authorized Kia dealer before thevehicle is driven again.

Tires
Adjust the tire inflation pressures to
specification. Low tire inflation pressures
will result in overheating and possible
failure of the tires.
Avoid using worn or damaged tires which
may result in reduced traction or tire fail-
ure.
✽✽NOTICE
Never exceed the maximum tire inflation
pressure shown on the tires.
Fuel, engine coolant and engine oil
High speed travel consumes more fuel
than urban motoring. Do not forget to
check both the engine coolant andengine oil.
Drive belt
A loose or damaged drive belt may over-
heat the engine.
WARNING
Underinflated or overinflated tires can cause poor handling,
loss of vehicle control, and sud-den tire failure leading to acci-
dents, injuries, and even death.
Always check tires for proper
inflation before driving. For prop-
er tire pressures, refer to “Tires
and wheels” in section 8.
Driving on tires with no or insuffi- cient tread is dangerous. Worn-out tires can result in loss of
vehicle control, collisions, injury,
and even death. Worn-out tiresshould be replaced as soon as
possible and should never be
used for driving. Always check
the tire tread before driving your
vehicle. For further information
and tread limits, refer to “Tires
and wheels” in section 7.

Any adverse conditions should be
brought to the attention of your dealer as
soon as possible.

generally not covered by warranties and
you may be charged for labor, parts and

When you stop for fuel:
Check the engine oil level.
Check the coolant level in the coolant
reservoir.
Check the windshield washer fluid level.
Look for low or under-inflated tires.
WARNING
Be careful when checking your
engine coolant level when the
engine is hot. Scalding hot coolant
and steam may blow out under
pressure. This could cause burns
or other serious injury.
OWNER MAINTENANCE
WARNING - Diesel Engine
Never work on the injection system with the engine running or within30 seconds after shutting off the
engine. High-pressure pump, rail,
injectors and high-pressure pipes
are subject to high pressure even
after the engine stopped. The fuel
jet produced by fuel leaks may
cause serious injury, if it touches
the body. People using pacemakers
should not move more than 30cm
closer to the ECU or wiring harness
within the engine room while the
engine is running, since the high
currents in the electronic engine
control system produce consider-
able magnetic fields.

Have engine oil and filter changed by an
authorized Kia dealer according to theMaintenance Schedule at the beginningof this section.G070000BHM The high-pressure cooling system has a
reservoir filled with year round antifreeze
coolant. The reservoir is filled at the fac-
tory.
Check the antifreeze protection and
coolant level at least once a year, at thebeginning of the winter season, and
before traveling to a colder climate.G070100BFD
Checking the coolant level
WARNING
Used engine oil may cause skin irri- tation or cancer if left in contact
with the skin for prolonged periods
of time. Used engine oil contains
chemicals that have caused cancer
in laboratory animals. Always pro-
tect your skin by washing your
hands thoroughly with soap and
warm water as soon as possibleafter handling used oil.
ENGINE COOLANT
WARNING
Removing radiatorcap
Never attempt to remove the radi- ator cap while the engine is oper-
ating or hot. Doing so might leadto cooling system and engine
damage. Also, hot coolant orsteam could cause serious per-
sonal injury.
Turn the engine off and wait until it cools down. Use extreme care
when removing the radiator cap.
Wrap a thick towel around it, and
turn it counterclockwise slowly to
the first stop. Step back while the
pressure is released from thecooling system.
When you are sure all the pres-
sure has been released, press
down on the cap, using a thick
towel, and continue turning coun-
terclockwise to remove it.

Do not drive with no enginecoolant. It may cause water pumpfailure and engine seizure, etc.
When the engine overheats from low engine coolant, suddenlyadding engine coolant may causecracks in the engine. To preventdamage, add engine coolant
slowly in small quantities.
