GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CAR
In-depth knowledge of your new vehicle
starts here.
The handbook that you are reading
simply and directly explains how it
is made and how it works.
That’s why we advise you to read it
seated comfortably on board, so that
you can see immediately what is
described here for yourself.DASHBOARD ................................. 7

IMPORTANT When the heated rear
window is activated, door mirror
defrosting is activated (for versions/
markets, where provided).
Manual folding
When required, fold the mirrors toward
the vehicle interior.
WARNING
15)As the driver's door mirror is curved, it
may slightly alter the perception of
distance.
EXTERIOR LIGHTS
The left stalk fig. 18 controls the
operation of the headlights, side lights,
dipped beam headlights, parking lights,
main beam headlights, direction
indicators, and "Follow me home"
device.
The external lights can only be
switched on when the ignition key is at
MAR.
The instrument panel and the various
dashboard controls will come on with
the external lights.AUTOMATIC LIGHT
CONTROL
(Dusk sensor)
(for versions/markets, where provided)
This infrared LED sensor, located on the
windscreen, detects the variations in
outside brightness depending on the
light sensitivity set with the Setup
Menu: the greater the sensitivity, the
less external light is required to activate
the exterior lights.
Activation
The dusk sensor activates when ring
nut A fig. 18 is turned to
. In this
way the side lights and dipped beam
headlights are activated automatically
according to the external light level.
Following automatic light activation, the
fog lights (for versions/markets, where
provided) and rear fog light may still
be switched on. When the lights are
automatically switched off, the front and
rear fog lights (if activated) are also
switched off. The next time the lights
are switched on automatically, the
fog lights must be reactivated manually
(if required).
With dusk sensor active, it is not
possible to keep the main beam
headlights on constantly; only flashing
is permitted. To switch these lights
on constantly, turn ring nut A to
and
pull the stalk towards the steering
wheel.

IMPORTANT When driving, the mirrors
must always be open.
WINDOW CLEANING
WINDSCREEN
WIPER/WASHER
4) 5) 6)
This operates only with the ignition key
turned to MAR.
Ring nut A fig. 22 has four different
positions:
windscreen wiper off.
intermittent operation.
continuous slow operation.
continuous fast operation.
Move the stalk upwards (unstable
position) to limit operation to the time
for which the stalk is held in this
position. When released, the stalk will
return to its default position and the
windscreen wiper will be automatically
stopped.With ring nut A fig. 22 in
position,
the windscreen wiper will automatically
adapt its operating speed to the speed
of the vehicle.
With the windscreen wipers
operational, if reverse gear is engaged,
the rear window wiper is automatically
activated.
“Smart washing” function
Pull the stalk towards the steering
wheel (unstable position) to operate the
windscreen washer.
Keeping the stalk pulled for more than
half a second, with just one movement
it is possible to operate the washer
jet and the wiper at the same time.
The windscreen wiper stops working
three strokes after the stalk is released.
A further stroke after approximately 6
seconds completes the cycle.
REAR WINDOW
WIPER/WASHER
7)
This operates only with the ignition key
turned to MAR.
Turn ring nut B fig. 22 from positionO
to position
to operate the rear
window wiper as follows:
❒in intermittent mode when the
windscreen wiper is not operating;❒in synchronous mode (at half the
speed of the windscreen wiper) when
the windscreen wiper is operating;
❒in continuous mode with reverse gear
engaged and the control active.
With the windscreen wiper on and
reverse gear engaged, rear window
wiping will be continuous.
Pushing the stalk towards the
dashboard (unstable position) will
activate the rear window washer jet.
Keep the stalk pushed for more than
half a second to activate the rear
window wiper as well. Releasing the
stalk will activate the smart washing
function, as described for the
windscreen wiper.
The function stops when the stalk is
released.

6)Make sure the device is switched off
whenever the windscreen must be
cleaned.
7)Do not use the rear window wiper to
remove layers of snow or ice. In such
conditions, the wiper may be subjected to
excessive stress and the motor cut-out
switch, which prevents operation for a few
seconds, may intervene. If operation is
not subsequently restored, contact a Fiat
Dealership.

WARNING
4)Do not use the windscreen wiper to
remove layers of snow or ice from the
windscreen. In such conditions, the
windscreen wiper may be subjected to
excessive stress and the motor cut-out
switch, which prevents operation for a few
seconds, may intervene. If operation is
not restored (even after turning the key and
restarting the engine), contact a Fiat
Dealership.
5)Do not operate the windscreen wiper
with the blades lifted from the windscreen.
air outlet from the footwell and the dashboard vents.
air outlet from footwell vents.
air outlet from footwell, windscreen and front side window vents.
air outlet from windscreen vents.
D - Heated rear window and (for versions/markets, where provided) heated mirrors/heated windscreen activation/deactivation.
E - Fan speed adjustment and climate control system activation/deactivation knob (for versions/markets, where provided).
IMPORTANT It is advisable to switch the air recirculation on whilst queuing or in tunnels, or whilst driving on dusty roads, to
prevent the introduction of polluted air. However, it is better not to use the function for long periods, particularly if there are
many people on board, to prevent the windows from misting.
NoteTo stop the air flow from the vents, turn the knob to 0.
ADDITIONAL HEATER
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The additional heater speeds up passenger compartment warming when it is very cold. The heater switches on automatically
according to the environmental conditions and with engine started when the temperature of the engine coolant is low. The
additional heater turns off automatically after the required comfort conditions are achieved.
The heater only works if the outside temperature and engine coolant temperature are low. The heater will not activate if the
battery voltage is too low.
23
AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM
(for versions/markets, where provided)
Controls
A - Manual air distribution selection.
By pressing the buttons, one of the five possible air flow distribution patterns can be selected:
air outlet from the windscreen and front side window vents to demist or defrost them.
air outlet from the dashboard central and side vents to ventilate the chest and the face.
air outlet from footwell vents. Due to the natural tendency of heat to spread upwards, this type of distribution warms the
passenger compartment up as quickly as possible.
+air outlet from the footwell vents (warmest air) and the dashboard vents (coolest air).
+air outlet from footwell, windscreen and front side window vents. This type of distribution achieves effective heating of
the passenger compartment and prevents the windows from misting up.

B - Activation/deactivation of the MAX-DEF function (fast front window defrosting/demisting).
C - Climate control system compressor activation/deactivation.
D - Internal air recirculation activation/deactivation button.
E - Climate control on/off.
F - Heated rear window and (for versions/markets, where provided) heated mirrors/heated windscreen activation/deactivation.
G/M - Fan speed adjustment.
H - AUTO function activation (climate control system automatic operation).
I/L - Adjustment of temperature inside the passenger compartment.
The automatic climate control manages the Stop/Start function (engine off when the vehicle speed is zero) to guarantee
adequate comfort inside the passenger compartment.
NOTE In particularly severe climate conditions it is recommended to limit the use of the Stop/Start function to prevent the
compressor from continuously switching on and off, with consequent rapid misting of the windows and accumulation of
humidity with unpleasant smells in the passenger compartment.
WARNING
18)It is advisable not to use the air recirculation function when the outside temperature is low, because the windows could rapidly steam up.
WARNING
2)The system uses R134a coolant which does not pollute the environment in the event of accidental leakage. Never use R12 fluid, which is
not compatible with the system components.
