CHILD SAFETY: fitting a child seat (2/7)
In the rear side seat
A carrycot can be installed across the
vehicle and will take up at least two
seats. Position the child with his or her
feet nearest the door.
Before fitting a child seat to the ISOFIX
anchorages on the rear side seat,
ensure that the seat belt buckles are
not positioned between the two ISOFIX
anchorages on this seat. If necessary,
move the buckle from the seat in ques-
tion towards the centre of the vehicle.
Move the front seat as far forward as
possible to install a rear-facing child
seat, then move back the seat in front
as far as it will go, although without al-
lowing it to come into contact with the
child seat.
For the safety of the child in the for-
ward-facing seat, do not move the seat
in front back past the middle of the
runner, do not tilt the seatback too far
(maximum of 25° ) and raise the seat as
much as possible.
Check that the forward-facing child seat
is resting against the back of the vehi-
cle seat. Adjust the headrest, or remove
it if necessary. Rear centre seat
A child seat may only be fitted in this
seat if it is equipped with an inertia-reel
seat belt. For any additional informa-
tion, contact an approved dealer.
Ensure that the child seat
or the child’s feet do not
prevent the front seat from
locking correctly.

X = Seat not suitable for fitting child seats.
U = Seat which allows a child seat with “Universal” approval to be ins\
talled using a seat belt; check that it can be fitted.
IUF = Seat which allows forward facing child seats with “Universal” appr\
oval to be attached by the ISOFIX device; check that it
can be fitted correctly.
IL = Seat which allows child seats with “Semi-universal” or “vehicle specific” approval to be attached by the ISOFIX device; check
that it can be fitted correctly.
(3) Raise the seat to the maximum and position it as far back as possible, t\
ilting the seatback slightly (approximately 25°).
(4) A carrycot can be installed across the vehicle and will take up at least \
two seats. Place the child with its feet nearest the door.
(5) Move the front seat as far forward as possible to install a rear-facing \
child seat, then move back the seat in front as far as it will
go, although without allowing it to come into contact with the child sea\
t. Put the headrest in the raised position.
(6) Forward-facing child seat; position the seatback of the child seat in co\
ntact with the seatback of the vehicle seat. Adjust the
height of the headrest or remove it if necessary; do not push the seat in front of the child more than halfway back on its runn ers
and do not recline the seatback more than 25°.

CHILD SAFETY: deactivating/activating the front passenger air bag (1/3)
The passenger air bag must
only be deactivated or acti-
vated when the vehicle is
stationary.
If handled when the ignition is on,
the warning light
å comes on.
Switch the ignition off then on again
to reset the air bag in accordance
with the lock.
With the ignition on, it is essential to
check that the 2
] warning light is
lit up.
This warning light remains continu-
ously lit to let you know that you can
fit a child seat .
Deactivating the front
passenger air bags
(depending on vehicle)
In order to be able to install a rear-
facing child seat on the front passen-
ger seat, you must deactivate the front
passenger seat belt additional restraint
systems.
To deactivate the passenger airbag,
with the ignition off , press and turn
button 1 to the OFF position.

Abnormal white smoke from the ex-
haust Mechanical fault: damaged cylinder
head gasket.
or Stop the engine.
Contact an approved dealer.
This is not necessarily a fault.
Smoke may be caused by
regeneration of the particle filter. Please refer to the information on “Special
features of diesel versions” in Section 2.
The power-assisted steering be-
comes heavy. Belt broken.
Have the belt replaced.
No power-assisted steering oil For maintenance operations on the power-
assisted steering, contact an authorised
dealer.
Radiator: If there is a significant lack of coolant, remember that it must never b\
e topped up using cold coolant while
the engine is very warm. After any procedure on the vehicle which has involved even partial draining of the cooling
system, it must be refilled with a new mixture prepared in the correct p\
roportions. Reminder: only products approved
by the Technical Department may be used for this purpose.
