Seat
Adjustment on page 3-3 and
Reclining Seatbacks on
page 3-4. When a rear-facing
child restraint is installed
properly, the front passenger
seat cannot be used.
5. If the child restraint manufacturer recommends using a top tether,
adjust the top tether to its full
length and attach it to the top
tether anchor. Refer to the

child restraint is properly
installed, there should be no
more than 2.5 cm (1 in) of
movement.
To remove the child restraint,

and let it return to the stowed
position. If the top tether is attached
to a top tether anchor, disconnect it. Reinstall the headrest in the
seatback before the seating position
is used. See
“Head Restraint/
Headrest Removal and
Reinstallation” underLower Anchors
and Tethers for Children (LATCH

Securing Child Restraints
(Front Passenger Seat)
This vehicle has airbags. A rear
seat is a safer place to secure a
forward-facing child restraint. See
Where to Put the Restraint on
page 3-36.
In addition, the vehicle has a
passenger sensing system which is
designed to turn off the front
outboard passenger's frontal airbag
under certain conditions. See
Passenger Sensing System on
page 3-23 andPassenger Airbag
Status Indicator on page 5-13 for
more information, including
important safety information.
Never put a rear-facing child seat in
the front. This is because the risk to
the rear-facing child is so great,
if the airbag deploys.

manufacturer recommends using
a top tether anchor, attach the
top tether to the top tether
anchor. Refer to the instructions
that came with the child restraint
and to Lower Anchors and
Tethers for Children (LATCH
System) on page 3-38.
