The IJI symbol illuminates when there is an
engine control malfunction. The
[3i indicator
light in the instrument cluster also illumi­
nates . The engine speed is limited to the
speed d isplayed in the driver information sys­
tem . Keep in mind that the eng ine speed will
not exceed the value displayed in the drive r in­
formation system , for example when down­
shifting.
Drive to your authorized Aud i dealer immedi ­
ately to have the malfunct ion corrected.

shade so the shade ret racts automat ically
when you se lect the reve rse gear. To do this,

wiper intervals, move the switch @to the

wipe rs turn on in the rain once the vehicle

ignition is switched on.

on when the reve rse gear is engaged and the
front w indshield w ipers are on and in opera­
tion .
C lean ing the headlights*. The headlight wash­
e r system* opera tes on ly when the headl ights
a re on. If you move the leve r to pos ition @,
the head lights are washed in intervals.
@ -allroad : Wipe the rear window. The rear
wiper moves about every 4 seconds.

ber of wiping operations depends on how long
the lever is held in pos ition

- T he ra in sensor is only inte nded to assist
the drive r. The driver is still responsible
for man ually switching the wipers on ac­
cording to the v isibility conditions .
- T he windshie ld may not be treated w ith
water-repe lling windshie ld coating
agents . Unfavorable conditions, such as
wetness, darkness, low sun, can res ult in
increased glare. Wiper blade chatter is
also possible .
- Proper ly functioning windshie ld w iper
blades are required for a clear view and safe driving

@ Note
- In the case of frost, check whethe r the
windshield wiper blades are frozen to
the windshield. Sw itching on the wind­
shield wipers can damage the wiper
blades!
- Pr ior to us ing a car wash, the w indshield
w iper system must be sw itched off ( lever
in posit ion @). Th is he lps to prevent un­
intentional switching on and damage to
the windsh ield wiper system .
@ Tips
-The windshie ld wipers are switched off
when the ignit ion is turned off. Act ivate
the winds hield wipers after the ignition
is switched back on by moving the wind­
shield w iper lever to any position.
- Worn or d irty windshield wiper b lades
result in st reaking. This can affect the
rain sensor* function. Check your wind­
shield w ipe r blades regularly.
- The washer fluid nozz les of t he wind­
shield w asher system a re heated at low
temperat ures when the igni tion is on.
- When stopping tempo rarily, (e .g. at a
t raffic light) the set speed o f the wind­
shield wipers is automatically reduced by
one speed.
· Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the windshie ld w iper b lades when they
begin to leave streaks. Use a soft cloth and
glass cle aner to clea n the windshield wiper
blades .

authorized Audi dealer for replacement b lades.

Otherw ise, you risk damag ing the pa int
on the hood o r the windshie ld w iper mo­
to r.
- Yo u should not move your vehicle o r
press the windsh ield wiper lever when
t he wipe r arms are folded away from the
w indshield . The windsh ield wipers wou ld
move back into their original position
and co uld damage the hood and wind­
shield.
- To help prevent damage to the w iper sys­
tem, always loosen blades which are fro­
zen to the windshield before operating
w ipers.
- To help p revent damage to wiper blades,
do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinner, or other solvents on or near the
w iper blades .
- To help prevent damage to the w iper
arms or other components, do not at­
tempt to move the wipe rs by hand .

- Commercial hot waxes applied by auto­
matic car washes affect the how easily
the glass surface can be cleaned .
- You can also use the service position, for
example, if you want to protect the
w indshield from icing by using a cover .

General information
Regular, proper care helps to maintain your
ve hicle 's value. It can also be a requirement
when subm itting warranty claims for co rro ­
sion damage and paint defec ts on the body .
The required cleaning and care prod ucts can
be obtained from your authorized Audi dea ler
or qualified workshop . Read and follow t he in ­
structions fo r use on the pac kaging .
A WARNING

- Always store cleaning and care products

- Prefera bly use environmentally-frie ndly
p roducts when buying cleaning agents .
- Do not d ispose of leftover cleaning and
ca re p ro du cts with household trash .
Car washes

The longer deposits remai n on t he veh icle, the
mo re the surface ca n be damaged. H igh tem­
pe rat ures such as those caused by su nlight in­
crease the d amaging effe cts.
Before washing, wet heavy deposi ts w ith p len ­
ty of wate r.
Stubbor n depos its s uch as bird dropp ings or
tree sap are best removed with plen ty of wa­
ter and a m icrofiber cloth .
A lso, was h the underside of your vehicle once
road salt stop s be ing used for the season.
Pres sure washers
When wash ing your ve hicles w ith a pressure
washer, always follow the operating instr uc­
tions provided w ith the pressure washe r. T his
is especially important in regard to the pres- s
u re and sp raying dis tance. Do not aim the
s p ray direct ly at sea ls on side windows, doo rs,
t h e hood, the rear lid o r the sunroof* or at
t ires, rubber hoses, insu lating material, sen ­
sors" or camera lenses*. Keep a d ista nce of at
least 16 inches (40 cm) .
Do not remove snow and ice with a pressu re
washer.
Never use rotary nozzles or high pressure noz­
zles .
T he wate r temperature m ust not be above
1 4 0
°F (6 0 °( ).
Automatic car washes
Sp ray off the ve hicle befo re washing .
Make sure that the w indows and roof * are
closed and the winds hield wipers are off. Fol­
low instructions from the ca r wash operator,
especially if there are accesso ries attached to
you r vehicle .
If possible, use car washes that do not have
brushes .
Washing by hand
Clean the ve hicle starti ng from the to p and
wor king down using a soft sponge or cleaning
brush. Use solvent-free clean ing products .
Washing vehicles with matte finish paint
by hand
To avoid damaging the paint when washing,
first remove dust and large particles from
your vehicle. Insects, grease spots and fi nger­
pr ints are best removed w ith a spec ial cleane r
for matte finish paint .
Apply t he prod uct using a microfiber cloth. To
avo id damaging the pa int surface, do not use
too much pressure.
Rinse the ve hicle thoroughly with water. Then
clean using a neutra l shampoo and a soft mi­
crofiber cloth.
Rinse the ve hicl e thoro ughly again and let it
air dry. Remove any water residue using a
shammy.

The engine hood is released from inside the
vehicle .

Before opening the engine hood, make sure
that the windshield wipers are flat against the
windshield. Otherwise, they could damage the
pa int on the hood.

A WARNING
Hot engine coo lant can burn you.
- T o reduce the risk of being burned, never
open the hood if you see or hear steam
or coolant escaping from the engine
compartment. Wait until no steam or coo
lant can be seen or heard before care­
fully opening the hood.
Closing the engine hood
... Pull the hood down until the pressure from
the struts is reduced .
... Let the hood
drop down and latch in place.
Do not try to push it shut; it may fail to en­
gage

A WARNING
-
A hood that is not completely latched
could fly up and b lock your view while driv­
ing.
- When you close the engine hood, check it
to make sure the safety catch has proper­
ly engaged . The hood shou ld be flush
with the surrounding vehicle body parts.
-If you notice while driving that the hood
is not secured properly, stop at once and
close it.
Working in the engine compartment
Be especially careful whenever you work in
the engine compartment.
Whenever you must perform any work in the
engine compartment, for example checking
and filling different fluids , there is a risk of
injury , burns and accidents. To prevent per­
sonal injury always observe the following
WARNINGS. The engine compartment of any
vehicle is a hazardous area

A WARNING
-To help avoid injury, before you check any-
thing under the hood:
- Turn off the engine.
- Remove the ignition key.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Move selector lever of automatic trans-
mission to "P" (Park); put manual trans­
mission in Neutral.
- Always let the engine cool down. Hot
components will burn skin on contact .
