A WARNING
- Only adjust the front seat w ith when t he

- The power adjustment for the front seats
also works with the ignition switched off
or with the ignition key removed. For this
reason, c hildren should never be left un­
attended in t he veh icle -they could be in­

Exerc ise caution when adjusting the seat

- W hile the vehicle is mov ing, the seat
backs of the front seats must not be in­
clined too far to the rear because the ef ­
fectiveness of the safety be lts and the

there is a risk of injury.
- To r educe the risk of injury dur ing s udden
b ra ki ng or in a co llision, the drive r and
front p assenge r sh ould not have the ir
backrests in the recline d posi tion while
driving or r iding. The safety be lts and a ir ­
bag system can provide the greatest pro­
tect ion possible when the backrests are
in the upr ight position and the safety
be lts are worn correctly. The more a

Front center armrest

The cen ter armrest can be adjusted to several
levels .

Automatic safety belt retractors
Every safety belt is equipped with an automat­
ic belt retractor on the shoulder belt . This fea­
ture locks the belt when the belt is pulled out
fast, during hard braking and in an accident.
The belt may also lock when you drive up or
down a steep hill or through a sharp curve. During normal driving the belt lets you move
freely.
Safety belt pretensioners
The safety belts are equipped with a belt pre­
tensioner that helps to tighten the safety belt
and remove slack when the pretensioner is ac­
tivated

Convertible locking retractor
Every safety belt except the one on the driver
seat is equipped with a convertible locking re­
tractor that
must be used when the safety
belt is used to attach a child seat. Be sure to

ly latched, the passenger will move for­
ward with the backrest during sudden

cially in a crash .
- Never attach the safety belt to the buck­
le for another seat. Attaching the belt to
the wrong buckle will reduce safety belt
effectiveness and can cause serious per­
sonal injury.
- A passenger who is not correctly restrain­
ed can be seriously injured by the safety
belt itself when it moves from the stron­
ger parts of the body into sensitive areas
like the abdomen.
- Always lock the convertible locking re­
tractor when you are securing a child seat in the vehicle

(such as a wet towe l) and no water or other
liquids on the front passenger seat cushion.
If the PASSENGER AIR BAG light still
does not come on ...
If the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF light still
does not come on and does not stay on con ­
tinuous ly (when the ignition is switched on),
- take the child restraint off the front passen -
ger seat and install it properly at one of the
rear seat positions. Have the airbag system
inspected by your Audi dealer immed iately.

make sure that the child is properly restrain­
ed in a ch ild restra int that is appropriate for
its size and age .
The PASSENGER AIR BAG light should
NOT come on ...
The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF light should

adult is s itting in a proper seating position on
the front passenger seat. If the

light comes on and stays on or
flashes for about S seconds wh ile d riving, un­
der these circumstances, make sure that:
- the adult on the front passenger seat is
properly seated on the cente r of the seat
cushion with his or her back up aga inst the
backrest and the backrest is not reclined,
- the adult is not taking weight off the seat by
holding on to the passenger assist handle
above the front passenger door or support­
ing their weight on the armrest ,
- t he safety belt is being properly wo rn and
that there is not a lot of s lack in the safety
be lt webbing,
- there are no aftermarket seat covers or
cushions or other things (such as blankets) .,..

front seat a potentially dangerous place for a child to r ide . The fro nt seat is not the safest

A WARNING
