Locking the front passenger's door with
the mechanical key
The emergency lock is located on the rear side
of the front passenger's door. It is only visible
when the doo r is open.
• Remove the mechanical key ¢
page 32 .
• Pull the cover cap out of the opening
¢ fig. 25.
• Inse rt the key in the inside slot and turn it
all the way to the right.
Once the front passenger's door has been
closed, you cannot open it again from the out
side. The door can be opened from the inside
by pulling the door handle.

After the ignition is switched on, the pow
er locking system switch is enab led .
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents your vehicle from
being started by unauthorized persons .
-
Inside the key there is a computer chip . This
ch ip automatically activates/deactivates the
e lectronic immobilizer.
Applies to vehicles with ignition lock:
The electron ic immobilizer deactivates auto
mat ica lly when you insert the remote contro l
key into the ignition lock.
It activates again a
utomatical ly when you remove the remote
control key from the ignition lock.
Applies to vehicles with convenience key:
If the remote control key is located inside the
vehicle and you press the
I START ENGINE ST OPI button, the electronic
immobilizer deactivates automatica lly. If you
switch the ignition off and remove the remote
control key from the vehicle, the electronic
immobilizer activates again automatically.
A WARNING
--
Always take the key with you when you
leave the vehicle. The key can disarm the
electronic engine immobilizer and permit
an unauthorized person to start the engine
and enable operation of the vehicle sys
tems such as power window or power sun
roof leading to se rious personal injury.

- The vehicle cannot be started if an una u
thorized key is used. The vehicle may not
start if another radio device s uch as a key
for another vehicle or a transponder is
located on the key ring.

Correcting window regulator
, malfunction
After disconnecting the vehicle battery, the
one -touch up and down feature must be acti
vated again.
.. Pull and hold the power window switch until
the window is completely closed .
.. Release the switch and pull the sw itch again
for one second.
Valet parking

The valet parking feature protects the lug
gage compartment from unauthorized ac
cess .

You can switch the "valet parking function" on
when someone else is parking your vehicle .
When the function is switched on, the vehicle
can be driven, locked and unlocked using the

Automatic power top
General information
The power top opens and closes automat ica l
l y . The ent ire power top is s tored in the power
top compartment. The power top may be
opened or closed at speeds up to 30 mph
(SO km/h).
Under normal conditions, the power top is
wind and w aterproof. In rare cases, small
drop lets of water may form under extreme
weather conditions such as torrential or pro longed rain. That is norma l and no cause for
concern.
F ollow the care instr uctions to keep the roo f
from leak ing and to maintai n its appearance
over time

cleaning.
Also observe the following:
- Only open and store the power top when it is
clean a nd dry . Sharp dirt particles can cause
damage to the rear window and the power
top. If the power top is stored when damp,
dents can form . If left stored for a long per i
od of t ime, mildew and other damage can
develop .
- Do not leave the power top open for several
weeks or the creases in it may become dis
colored .
- Remove ice and snow before opening the
power top. Do not use any sharp edged ob
jects to remove ice and snow or the power top could be scratched or damaged . T he rear
window may be clea red wi th a standa rd ice
scraper.
- Do not open the power top when tempera
tu res are below 32 ° F (0 °C). The fabr ic used
i n the power top loses its elasticity when
temperatures are be low freezing .

or other factors and that it does not in

- Never drive when the power top is not

could cause the power top to open . This

- Make sure no one wi ll be injured by the
power top supports and other mov ing
parts when opening and closing the top.
- The head space in the rear is reduced
when the power top opens and closes.
Make sure the passengers in the rear are
far enough away from the power top to

-When operating the power top, visibility
to the rear is limited . Avoid operating the
top while driving in reverse.

- To prevent damage to the power top:
- do not store any objects in the power
top compartment.
- make sure there is enough space above
the vehicle when opening or closing
the power top.
- To reduce the risk of damage, make sure
there are no fragile objects within the
storage bay's range of motion.

The cause of the malfunction
should be corrected by an authorized
Audi dealer or authorized repair facility
as soon as possible.
- The vehicle is not protected from the
weather or from unauthorized entry if
the vehicle is left parked with the power
top open. Lock any objects you are leav ing in the vehicle in the luggage com
partment. Close the power top before
leaving the vehicle.

Power top emergency
operation
General information
The power top can be closed manually if there
is a malfunction.
~ Set the parking brake.
~ Open the windows.
~ Switch the ign ition off.
~ To reduce pressure in the powe r top hydraul
ics, pull the<¾, button for approximately 10
to 15 seconds ¢
page 43, fig. 36.
Only close the powe r top manually in an emer
gency . Have a second person help you. Drive
to an authorized Audi dealer or authorized re
pa ir facility immediately to have the malfunc
tion corrected.
A WARNING
-There is a risk of p inching your hands or
injuring othe r people during all steps in
the power top emergency operation
process.
- Make sure all w indows are open during
emergency operation.
- Do not hold the power top supports or
other moving parts.
- Never drive when the power top is not
locked correctly. The wind from driving
cou ld cause the power top to open . This
can result in injur ies and damage to the
vehicle.
@ Tips
The vehicle headliner is not clipped in and
the power top compartment cover is not
locked after using the power top emergen
cy operation procedure. Drive to an author- Power top 4
