development over a distance of
50 miles. Filled segments display the consumption in 5 mile steps and
shows the effect of topography or
driving behaviour on fuel
consumption.
116Instruments and controls
Economy index
The current fuel consumption is
indicated on an economic scale. For
economical driving adapt your driving style to keep the indicator within the
Eco area. Indicator outside the Eco
area means higher fuel consumption.
On Baselevel display, the current consumption value is indicated.
Shift indication : On Baselevel display
the current gear is indicated inside an
arrow. The figure above recommends upshifting for fuel saving reasons.

also indicated left or right from the
speedometer.
Performace page
Indicates oil temperature in degrees
Celsius.
Indicates the oil pressure in kPa.
Indicates the current absolute amount of the turbo boost being added.
G-force indication
Indicates the force of vehicle
performance. The amount of positive/
negative longitudinal force and lateral force will be displayed. The g-force
value unit will be calculated and
displayed as a numerical value.Friction bubble
A four quadrant visual display,
indicative of the four corners of the
car, with a "bubble" showing where
the most inertia is being exerted on
the vehicle.
Acceleration and braking
Displays the percentage amount of
brake or accelerator pressure applied by the driver as a bar graph around
the outer perimeter of the DIC area.
The left side is for acceleration and
the right side is for braking.
Lap timer
The lap timer function measures the
time that has passed since the last
time the user started or stopped the lap timer through ignition cycles.
Timer values are displayed from
hours to tenths of a second. Start and
stop the timer by pressing 9 button.
Current and Previous lap times are displayed accurate to the tenth of a second. Gain or loss time is indicated
in ss.s format.
Driving and operating211Caution
Use of fuel that does not comply toEN 228 or E DIN 51626-1 or
equivalent can lead to deposits or
engine damage and may affect
your warranty.
Caution
Use of fuel with too low an octane
rating could lead to uncontrolled combustion and engine damage.
Fuel for diesel engines
Only use diesel fuel that complies
with EN 590.
In countries outside the European
Union use Euro-Diesel fuel with a
sulfur concentration below 50 ppm.
Caution
Use of fuel that does not comply to EN 590 or similar can lead to
engine powerloss, increased wear
or engine damage and may affect
your warranty.
Do not use marine diesel oils, heating
oils, Aquazole and similar diesel-
water emulsions. Diesel fuels must
not be diluted with fuels for petrol
engines.
Fuel for liquid gas
operation
Liquid gas is known as LPG
(Liquefied Petroleum Gas) or under
its French name GPL (Gaz de Pétrole Liquéfié). LPG is also known as
Autogas.
LPG consists mainly of propane and
butane. The octane rating is between
105 and 115, depending on the
butane proportion. LPG is stored
liquid at around 5 - 10 bar pressure.
The boiling point depends on the
pressure and mixing ratio. At ambient pressure, it is between -42 °C (pure
propane) and -0.5 °C (pure butane).Caution
The system works at an ambient
temperature of approx. -8 °C to
100 °C.
Full function of the LPG system can
only be guaranteed with liquid gas
which complies with the minimum
requirements of DIN EN 589.

- even if they have a regulatory or
otherwise granted approval.
Do not make any modifications to the
electrical system, e.g. changes of
electronic control units (chip tuning).Caution
When transporting the vehicle on
a train or on a recovery vehicle, the
mud flaps might be damaged.
Vehicle storage
Storage for a long period of time
If the vehicle is to be stored for several months:
■ Wash and wax the vehicle.
■ Have the wax in the engine compartment and underbody
checked.
■ Clean and preserve rubber seals.
■ Fill up fuel tank completely.
■ Change engine oil.
■ Drain washer fluid reservoir.
■ Check coolant antifreeze and corrosion protection.
■ Adjust tyre pressure to the value specified for full load.
■ Park vehicle in dry, well ventilated place. Engage first or reverse gear
or set selector lever to P. Prevent
the vehicle from rolling.
■ Do not apply parking brake.
Vehicle care223
■ Open bonnet, close all doors andlock the vehicle.
■ Disconnect the clamp from the negative terminal of the vehicle
battery. Beware that all systems are
not functional, e.g. anti-theft alarm
system.
Putting back into operation
When the vehicle is to be put back into
operation:
■ Connect the clamp to the negative terminal of the vehicle battery.
Activate the electronics of the
power windows.
■ Check tyre pressure.
■ Fill up the washer fluid reservoir.
■ Check the engine oil level.
■ Check the coolant level.
■ Fit the number plate if necessary.
