Multi-function meter unit

equipped with the following:
a speedometer
a tachometer
a clock
a fuel meter
an eco indicator
a transmission gear display
a drive mode display
a multi-function display
a self-diagnosis device
TIPBe sure to turn the key to “ON” be-
fore using the “SELECT” and “RE-
SET” buttons.
For the UK only: To switch the
speedometer and multi-function
displays between kilometers and
miles, press the “SELECT” button
for at least one second.

ometer
The speedometer shows the vehicle’s
traveling speed.
Tachometer The tachometer allows the rider to
monitor the engine speed and keep it
within the ideal power range.
When the key is turned to “ON”, the ta-
chometer will sweep across the r/min
range and then return to zero r/min in
order to test the electrical circuit.

The clock displays when the key is
turned to “ON”. In addition, the clock
can be displayed for 10 seconds by pushing the “SELECT” button when
the main switch is in the “OFF”,
“LOCK” or “ ” position.
To set the clock
1. Turn the key to “ON”.
2. Push the “SELECT” button and
“RESET” button together for at
least two seconds.
3. When the hour digits start flash- ing, push the “RESET” button to
set the hours.
4. Push the “SELECT” button, and the minute digits will start flashing.
5. Push the “RESET” button to set the minutes.
6. Push the “SELECT” button and then release it to start the clock.

Fuel tank capTo open the fuel tank cap
Open the fuel tank cap lock cover, in-
sert the key into the lock, and then turn
it 1/4 turn clockwise. The lock will be
released and the fuel tank cap can be
opened.
To close the fuel tank cap 1. Push the fuel tank cap into posi- tion with the key inserted in the
lock.
2. Turn the key counterclockwise to the original position, remove it,
and then close the lock cover.
TIPThe fuel tank cap cannot be closed un-
less the key is in the lock. In addition,
the key cannot be removed if the cap is
not properly closed and locked.

SeatTo remove the seat 1. Open the seat lock cover, insert the key into the seat lock, and then
turn the key counterclockwise.
2. While holding the key in that posi- tion, lift the rear of the seat up, and
then pull the seat off.
To install the seat 1. Insert the projections into the seat holders as shown. 2. Push the rear of the seat down to
lock it in place.
3. Remove the key.

cured before riding.

11. Connect the auxiliary light cou-
pler.
12. Align the holes in the headlight unit with the holes in the headlight
unit cover.
13. Install the grommets.
14. Place the headlight unit side cov- ers in their original position, and
then install the bolts.
15. Have a Yamaha dealer adjust the headlight beam if necessary.

Replacing an auxiliary li ght
b ul bThis model is equipped with two auxil-
iary lights. If an auxiliary light bulb
burns out, replace it as follows.
1. Remove the headlight unit side covers by removing the bolts on
each side.
2. Remove the auxiliary light bulbsocket (together with the bulb) by
turning it counterclockwise.
3. Remove the burnt-out bulb by pulling it out. 4. Insert a new bulb into the socket.
5. Install the socket (together with
the bulb) by turning it clockwise.
