Driving
Accelerate the vehicle slowly, keep a safe distance between you and
the vehicle ahead, and drive at a reduced speed suitable to road con-
ditions.
Park the vehicle and move the shift lever to P without setting the park-
ing brake. The parking brake may freeze up, preventing it from being
released. If necessary, block the wheels to prevent inadvertent sliding
or creeping.
Use the correct tire chain size when mounting the tire chains.
Chain size is regulated for each tire size.
Side chain
3 mm (0.12 in.) in diameter
Cross chain
4 mm (0.16 in.) in diameter
Regulations regarding the use of tire chains vary depending on loca-
tion and type of road. Always check local regulations before installing
chains.

The location of treadwear indica-
tors is shown by the “TWI” or “”
marks, etc., molded on the sidewall
of each tire.
Check spare tire condition and
pressure if not rotated.
Rotate the tires in the order shown.
To equalize tire wear and help extend tire life, Toyota recommends
that tire rotation is carried out approximately every 10000 km (6000
miles).
Replace or rotate tires in accordance with maintenance sched-
ules and treadwear.

Wheels
When replacing wheels, care should be taken to ensure that they are
equivalent to those removed in load capacity, diameter, rim width and
inset

Replacement wheels are available at any authorized Toyota dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
*: Conventionally referred to as “offset”.
Toyota does not recommend using the following:
Wheels of different sizes or types
Used wheels
Bent wheels that have been straightened
Use only Toyota wheel nuts and wrenches designed for use with
your aluminum wheels.
When rotating, repairing or changing your tires, check that the
wheel nuts are still tight after driving 1600 km (1000 miles).
Be careful not to damage the aluminum wheels when using tire
chains.
Use only Toyota genuine balance weights or equivalent and a plas-
tic or rubber hammer when balancing your wheels.
If a wheel is bent, cracked or heavily corroded, it should be
replaced. Otherwise, the tire may separate from the wheel or
cause a loss of handling control.

When trouble arises
When a tire is replaced with a spare tire (vehicles with a tire pressure
warning system)
The spare tire is not equipped with a tire pressure warning valve and trans-
mitter. If a tire goes flat, the tire pressure warning light will not turn off even
though the flat tire has been replaced with the spare tire. Replace the spare
tire with the repaired tire and adjust the tire inflation pressure. The tire pres-
sure warning light will go off after a few minutes.
If the tire pressure warning system is not functioning (vehicles with a
tire pressure warning system)
The tire pressure warning system will be disabled in the following conditions:
(When the condition becomes normal, the system will work properly.)
If tires not equipped with tire pressure warning valves and transmitters are
used
If the ID code on the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters is not
registered in the tire pressure warning computer
If the tire inflation pressure is 500 kPa (5.1 kgf/cm
2 or bar, 73 psi) or higher
The tire pressure warning system may be disabled in the following conditions:
(When the condition becomes normal, the system will work properly.)
If electronic devices or facilities using similar radio wave frequencies are
nearby
If a radio set at a similar frequency is in use in the vehicle
If a window tint that affects the radio wave signals is installed
If there is a lot of snow or ice on the vehicle, particularly around the wheels
or wheel housings
If non-genuine Toyota wheels are used (Even if you use Toyota wheels, the
tire pressure warning system may not work properly with some types of
tires.)
If tire chains are used
If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1
minute (vehicles with a tire pressure warning system)
If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1 min-
ute when the power switch is turned on, have it checked by any authorized
Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

When trouble arises
If the tire is inflated to more than the specified air pressure
Check that the air pressure indicator shows the specified air pressure.
If the air pressure is under the designated pressure, turn the compressor
switch on again and repeat the inflation procedure until the specified air
pressure is reached.
The valve of a tire that has been repaired
After a tire is repaired with the emergency tire puncture repair kit, the valve
should be replaced.
Note for checking the emergency tire puncture repair kit
Check the sealant expiry date occasionally.
The expiry date is shown on the bottle. Do not use sealant whose expiry date
has already passed. Otherwise, repairs conducted using the emergency tire
puncture repair kit may not be performed properly.
Emergency tire puncture repair kit
The sealant stored in the emergency tire puncture repair kit can be used
only once to temporarily repair a single tire. If the sealant has been used
and needs to be replaced, purchase a new bottle at any authorized Toyota
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional. The
compressor is reusable.
The sealant can be used when the outside temperature is from -30°C
(-22°F) to 60°C (140°F).
The repair kit is exclusively designed for size and type of tires originally
installed on your vehicle. Do not use it for tires that a different size than the
original ones, or for any other purposes. Press the button to let some air out.
