When trouble arises
Follow the correction procedures.
After taking the specified steps to correct the suspected problem,
check that the warning light turns off.

When trouble arises
If non-genuine Toyota wheels are used (Even if you use Toyota wheels,
the tire pressure warning system may not work properly with some types
of tires.)
If tire chains are used
If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for
1 minute (vehicles with a tire pressure warning light system)
If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1 min-
ute when the engine switch (vehicles without smart entry & start system) or
the “ENGINE START STOP” switch (vehicles with smart entry & start sys-
tem) is turned on, have it checked by any authorized Toyota dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
CAUTION
If the tire pressure warning light comes on (vehicles with a tire pres-
sure warning light system)
Be sure to observe the following precautions. Failure to do so could cause a
loss of vehicle control and result in death or serious injury.
Stop your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible. Adjust the tire infla-
tion pressure immediately.
If the tire pressure warning light comes on even after tire inflation pressure
adjustment, it is probable that you have a flat tire. Check the tires. If a tire
is flat, change it with the spare tire and have the flat tire repaired by the
nearest any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional.
Avoid abrupt maneuvering and braking. If the vehicle tires deteriorate, you
could lose control of the steering wheel or the brakes.
If a blowout or sudden air leakage should occur (vehicles with a tire
pressure warning light system)
The tire pressure warning system may not activate immediately.

Starting the engine when the battery is discharged (vehicles with a
Multidrive or an automatic transmission)
The engine cannot be started by push-starting.
Avoiding a discharged battery
Turn off the headlights and the audio system while the engine is turned
off.
Turn off any unnecessary electrical components when the vehicle is run-
ning at a low speed for an extended period, such as in heavy traffic, etc.
Charging the battery
The electricity stored in the battery will discharge gradually even when the
vehicle is not in use, due to natural discharge and the draining effects of cer-
tain electrical appliances. If the vehicle is left for a long time, the battery may
discharge, and the engine may be unable to start. (The battery recharges
automatically during driving.)
When the battery is removed or discharged (vehicles with alarm)
Make sure that the key is not inside the vehicle when recharging or replacing
the battery. The key may be locked in the vehicle if the alarm is activated.

Vehicles without smart entry & start system: Maintain the
engine speed of the second vehicle and turn the engine
switch to the “ON” position, then start the vehicle’s engine.
Vehicles with smart entry & start system: Maintain the
engine speed of the second vehicle and turn the “ENGINE
START STOP” switch to IGNITION ON mode, then start the
vehicle’s engine.
Once the vehicle’s engine has started, remove the jumper
cables in the exact reverse order in which they were con-
nected.
Once the engine starts, have the vehicle checked at any autho-
rized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional, as soon as possible.

Fuel tank opening for unleaded gasoline (gasoline engine)
To help prevent incorrect fueling, your vehicle has a fuel tank opening that
only accommodates the special nozzle on unleaded fuel pumps.
If you plan to drive in foreign countries (diesel engine)
Low sulphur diesel fuel may not be available, so please check the availability
with your distributor.
If your engine knocks
Consult any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly quali-
