3987-2. Maintenance
■Reset the maintenance data (U.S.A. only)
After the required maintenance is performed according to the maintenance
schedule, please reset the maintenance data.
To reset the data, follow the procedure described below:
Turn the engine switch off with the trip meter “A” reading shown.
While pressing the “TRIP/INFO” button (P. 88) or the “ODO/TRIP” button
(P. 89), turn the engine switch on.
Vehicles without multi-information display
Continue to press and hold the button until the trip meter displays “000000”.
Vehicles with multi-information display
Continue to press and hold the button until “RESETTING MAINTENANCE
DATA” appears on the multi-information display.
■ Allow inspection and repairs to be performed by a Toyota dealer
●Toyota technicians are well-trained specialists and are kept up to date with
the latest service information. They are well informed about the operations
of all systems on your vehicle.
● Keep a copy of the repair order. It proves that the maintenance that has
been performed is under warranty cove rage. If any problem should arise
while your vehicle is under warranty, your Toyota dealer will promptly take
care of it.
CAUTION
■ If your vehicle is not properly maintained
Improper maintenance could result in serious damage to the vehicle and
possible death or serious injury.
■ Handling of the battery
● Engine exhaust, some of its constituents, and a wide variety of automobile
components contain or emit chemicals known to the State of California to
cause cancer and birth defects and other reproductive harm. Work in a
well ventilated area.
● Oils, fuels and fluids contained in vehicles as well as waste produced by
component wear contain or emit chemicals known to the State of Califor-
nia to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Avoid
exposure and wash any affected area immediately.
● Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead
compounds which are known to cause brain damage. Wash your hands
after handling. ( P. 414)

When trouble arises
*1: Parking brake engaged warning buzzer:A buzzer will sound if the vehicle is driven at a speed of approximately
3 mph (5 km/h) or more.
*2: The light may come on when the oil level is extremely low. It is notdesigned to indicate low oil level, and the oil level must be checked using
the engine oil level dipstick.
Tire pressure warning light
When the light comes on:
Low tire inflation pressure such as • Natural causes ( P. 469)
• Flat tire ( P. 475)
Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified
level.
The light will turn off after a few minutes. In case
the light does not turn off even if the tire inflation
pressure is adjusted, have the system checked by
your Toyota dealer.
When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute:
Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system.
Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.
(If equipped)
Low windshield washer fluid warning light
Low level of washer fluid
Fill the tank.
(U.S.A.)
Maintenance required reminder light
Indicates that maintenance is required according to the
driven distance on the maintenance schedule.
*5
Illuminates for about 3 seconds and then flashes for about
15 seconds approximately 4500 miles (7200 km) after the
maintenance data has been reset.
If necessary, perform maintenance.
Comes on and remains on if the distance driven exceeds
5000 miles (8000 km) after the maintenance data has
been reset.
(The indicator will not work properly unless the mainte-
nance data has been reset.)
Perform the necessary maintenance.
Please reset the maintenance data after the mainte-
nance is performed. ( P. 398)
