Maintenance and care
12-volt batter y
The 12-volt battery is located in
the right-hand side of luggage
compartment.Open the center and right side deck boards. ( →P. 289)
Remove the center auxiliary box. ( →P. 407)
Remove the right side auxiliary
box.
Make sure that the 12-volt battery terminals are not corroded and that
there are no loose connections, cracks, or loose clamps. Terminals

When trouble arises
Insufficient 12-volt battery charge A buzzer also sounds.
→ Recharge or replace the 12-volt battery.
• The hybrid system may not be able to start.
• The parking lock mechanism may not func- tion. When parking, choose a level location
and apply the parking brake securely.
• The power switch may not be able to be
turned off. In this case, the power switch
may be turned off by applying the parking
brake.
• After charging the 12-volt battery, the mes- sage may continue to be displayed until the
shift position is changed from P.
Shift control system malfunction A buzzer also sounds.
→ Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional.
• The hybrid system may not be able to start.
• The parking lock mechanism may not func- tion. When parking, choose a level location
and apply the parking brake securely.
• The power switch may not be able to be
turned off. In this case, the power switch
may be turned off by applying the parking
brake.
Shift control system malfunction A buzzer also sounds.
→ Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional
immediately. If not inspected, vehicle sys-
tems may stop operating normally.
