Wireless remote control

Operation signals
The emergency flashers flash to indicate that the doors have been locked/
unlocked. (Locked: once; Unlocked: twice)
Conditions affecting operation
The wireless remote control function may not operate normally in the follow-
ing situations:
When the wireless key battery is depleted
Near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas station, radio station, large dis-
play, airport or other facility that generates strong radio waves or electri-
cal noise
When carrying a portable radio, cellular phone or other wireless commu-
nication devices
When the wireless key is in contact with, or is covered by a metallic
object
When other wireless key (that emit radio waves) is being used nearby
If window tint with a metallic content or metallic objects are attached to
the rear window
Key battery depletion
If the wireless remote control function does not operate, the battery may be
depleted. Replace the battery when necessary. (P. 280)
The wireless remote control can be used to lock and unlock the vehi-
cle.

The seatbacks of the rear seats can be folded down.
Stow the seat belts.
3-door models

Vehicles with a rear head
restraints: Lower the head
restraints to the lowest posi-
tion.

CAUTION
When folding the rear seatbacks down
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or
serious injury.
Do not fold the seatbacks down while driving.
Stop the vehicle on level ground, set the parking brake and shift the shift
lever to E, M or R (vehicles with a multi-mode manual transmission) or N
(vehicles with a manual transmission).
Do not allow anyone to sit on a folded seatback or in the luggage compart-
ment while driving.
Do not allow children to enter the luggage compartment.
Be careful not to catch your hand when folding the rear seatbacks.
Depending on the position of the front seat, it may interfere when trying to
fold down the rear seatbacks. If this happens, adjust the position of the
front seat.
After returning the rear seatback to the upright position
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or
serious injury.
Make sure the seatback is securely locked by pushing it forward and rear-
ward on the top.
Check that the seat belts are not twisted or caught in the seatback.
NOTICE
Stowing the seat belts
The seat belts must be stowed before you fold down the rear seatbacks.

Rear windows (5-door models)
The rear windows can be opened and closed.
Open the rear windows
Pull the latch handle toward
you and swing it fully out.
Push the latch handle to
securely lock the latch as
shown in the illustration.
Close the rear windows
Close the rear window as
shown in the illustration.
When closing the window,
make sure it is completely
closed.
