the shortest possible braking distance, the brake pedal must be applied firmly
until the vehicle has come to a complete standstill.
HBA is automatically switched off when the brake pedal is released.
Hill Start Assist (HHC)
Read and observe
on page 114 first.
HHC allows you to move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator ped-al without having to use the handbrake when pulling away on a gradient.
The system holds the brake pressure produced by the activation of the brake
pedal for approx. 2 seconds after the brake pedal is released.
HHC is active on slopes of >5 % when the driver door is closed. HHC is always
only active on slopes pulling away forwards or in reverse.
Multi collision brake (MCB)
Read and observe
on page 114 first.
The MCB helps to decrease speed after a collision through automatic brakinginterventions and to stabilize the vehicle. This reduces the risk of a subse-
quent crash due to uncontrolled vehicle movement.
The automatic brake interventions can take place only if the following condi-
tions are met.
There was a front, side and rear-end collision of a certain severity.
The impact speed was higher than approx. 10 km/h.
The brakes, the ESL and other required electrical systems remain function-
al after impact.
The accelerator pedal is not actuated.
Parking assistance (ParkPilot)
 Introduction

The parking aid (hereinafter referred to only as system) draws attention via
acoustic signals or the Infotainment display when manoeuvring around obsta-
cles in the vicinity of the vehicle.
WARNING■ The system only serves as an assistance and does not relieve the driver
of the responsibility for the vehicle operation.■
Moving persons or objects may not be recognised by the system sensors.
■
Under certain circumstances, surfaces of certain objects and types of
clothing cannot reflect the system signals. For this reason, such people or
objects may not be recognised by the system sensors.
■
External noise sources may affect the signals of the system sensors. Un-
der adverse conditions, this may cause objects or people to be not recog-
nised by the system.
■
Before reversing, you should make sure that there are no small obstacles,
such as rocks, thin posts, trailer drawbars etc. in front or behind your vehi-
cle. Such obstacles may not be recognised by the system sensors.
CAUTION
■ Keep the system sensors » Fig. 124 on page 117 clean, snow-and ice-free
and do not cover with any objects of any kind, otherwise the system function-
ing may be impaired.■
Under adverse weather conditions (heavy rain, water vapour, very low or
high temperatures etc.) system function may be limited “incorrect obstacle de- tection ”.
■
Additionally installed accessories such as e.g. bicycle carriers can impair the
system function.

If the trailer that is to be towed has a 7-pin connector, you can make an elec-
trical connection using a suitable adapter from ŠKODA Original Accessories.

Hook the breakaway cable of the trailer to the security lock slot

The breakaway cable of the trailer has to sag when mounted into the security
lock slot for all trailer positions relative to the vehicle (sharp curves, reverse
driving and the like.)
Detaching

Unhook the breakaway cable of the trailer from the securing eyelet

Pull the trailer cable out of the 13-pin socket.
›
Remove the trailer from the ball head.

Place cap

Exterior mirrors
You have to have additional exterior mirrors fitted if you are not able to see
the traffic behind the trailer with the standard rear-view mirrors. National legal
requirements must be observed.
Headlights
The front of the vehicle can be lifted when a trailer is being towed and the
headlights can dazzle other road users.
Adjust the headlight setting on the headlight range control » page 60, Operat-
ing the lights .
Power to the trailer power grid
For the electrical connection between the vehicle and trailer, the power for the
trailer power grid is supplied by the vehicle.
The power supply works with ignition on or off.
With the ignition off, the battery of the towing vehicle is discharged by activa-
ted consumers.
At low charge state of the vehicle battery power to the trailer is interrupted.WARNING■ Improperly connected trailer electrical installations may cause accidents
or serious injury due to electric shock.■
Work on the electrical system must only be carried out by specialist ga-
rages.
■
Never directly connect the trailer's electrical system with the electrical
connections for the tail lights or other current sources.
■
After coupling the trailer and connecting up the power socket, check the
rear lights on the trailer to ensure they work correctly.
■
The handbrake on the vehicle must be applied when coupling and uncou-
pling the trailer.
■
Never use the safety eyelet for towing!
CAUTION
Improperly connected trailer electrical installations may cause malfunction of
the entire vehicle electronics.
Note
■ The total power consumption of all the connected consumers on the trailer
must not exceed 350 watts.■
Coat the ball head of the towing device with a suitable grease whenever
necessary.
Loading a trailer
The vehicle/trailer combination must be balanced, whereby the maximum per-
missible drawbar load must be utilised. If the drawbar load is too low, it jeop-
ardises the performance of the vehicle/trailer combination.
Distribution of the cargo
Distribute the cargo in the trailer in such a way that heavy items are located as
close to the trailer axle as possible. Secure the items from slipping. 

Firmly apply the handbrake.

For vehicles with manual transmission the lever into the neutral position.

On vehicles with automatic transmission, shift the selector lever into the
P position.

Allow the engine to cool.

Never open the bonnet if you can see steam or coolant flowing out of the
engine compartment – there is a risk of scalding. Wait until the steam or
coolant has stopped escaping.
WARNINGInformation for working in the engine room■Keep all people, especially children, away from the engine compartment.■
Never touch the radiator fan while the engine is still warm. The fan might
suddenly start running!

Do not touch any hot engine parts – there is a risk of burns.

Pay particular attention to moving engine parts, e.g. V-ribbed belt, gener-
ator, radiator fan - danger to life!
■
Never touch the electric wiring on the ignition system.
■
Avoid short circuits in the electrical system, particularly on the vehicle's
battery.
■
Always make sure that no jewellery, loose clothing or long hair can get
caught in rotating engine parts – there is a risk of death. Always remove
any jewellery, tie back long hair and wear tight fitting clothing before com-
pleting any work.
WARNINGInformation for working on the fuel system or the electrical system■Always disconnect the vehicle battery from the electrical system.■
Do not smoke.
■
Never work near open flames.
■
Always have a functioning fire extinguisher nearby.
WARNING■ Read the information and warning instructions on the fluid containers.■Keep the working fluids in sealed original containers and safe from peo-
ple who are not completely independent, e.g. children.■
Never spill operating fluids over the hot engine - risk of fire.
■
If you wish to work under the vehicle, you must secure the vehicle against
rolling away and support it with suitable axle stands: the car jack is not suf-
ficient for this – there is a risk of injury.
CAUTION
Always top up using the correct specification of fluids. This may result in major
operating problems and also vehicle damage!
For the sake of the environment
In view of the requirements for the environmentally friendly disposal of fluids and the special tools and knowledge required for such work, we recommend
that fluids be changed by a specialist garage.
Note
■ If there is anything you are not sure about concerning fluids, please consult a
specialist garage.■
Fluids with the proper specifications can be purchased from the ŠKODA Origi-
nal Accessories or from the ŠKODA Genuine Parts ranges.

Ensure that the vehicle tool kit is safely secured in the boot.

For your own safety and the safety of the passengers, the following instruc-
tions must be observed before changing a wheel on the road.
Switch on the hazard lights.
The warning triangle must be set up at the prescribed distance - observe
the national legal provisions when doing so.
Park the vehicle as far away as possible from the flow of traffic.
Choose a location with a flat, solid surface.
Have all the occupants get out. The passengers should not stand on the
road (instead they should remain behind a crash barrier, for instance) while
the wheel is being changed.
The national legal requirements must be observed when changing a wheel.
Preparation
Before changing the wheel, the following work should be carried out.
› Switch off the engine.›Select the
first gear or move the selector lever for the automatic gearbox
into position P .›
Apply the handbrake firmly.
›
Uncouple trailer, if attached.
›
Remove the vehicle tool kit » page 167 and the spare wheel from the boot.

Taking the wheel out
The wheel is located in a well under the floor covering in the boot and is fixed
in place with a special bolt » Fig. 171.
Taking the wheel out

Open the tailgate.
›
Lift up the floor in the luggage compartment.
›
Loosen the belt and take out the box with the tool kit.
›
Unscrew the nut in direction of arrow » Fig. 171.
›
Take out the wheel.
Stowing the wheel
›
Place the wheel into the spare wheel well with the wheel rim pointing down-
ward.
›
Pull the fixing band through the opposite holes in the wheel rim.
›
Screw on the nut in the opposite direction to the arrow » Fig. 171 until the
wheel is safely secured.
›
Replace the box with the tool kit into the emergency or spare wheel and se-
cure it with the tape.
›
Fold back the floor in the luggage compartment.
›
Shut the boot lid.
Full wheel trim
Before removing the wheel bolts the wheel trim should be removed. 

For your own safety and the safety of your passengers, the following instruc-
tions must be observed before carrying out a wheel repair on the road.

› The cut or puncture is larger than 4 mm.

Preparations for using the breakdown kit
Read and observe
on page 172 first.
The following preparatory work must be carried out before using the break-
down kit.
›
Switch off the engine.
›
Select the first gear or move the selector lever for the automatic gearbox
into position P .
›
Apply the handbrake firmly.
›
Check that you can carry out the repairs with the breakdown kit » page 173,
General information .
›
Uncouple trailer, if attached.
›
Remove the breakdown kit from the boot.
›
Stick the corresponding sticker

›
Unscrew the valve cap.
› Use the valve remover 2 to unscrew the valve core and place it on a clean
surface (rag, paper, etc.).
Sealing and inflating the tyre
Read and observe

Sealing

Shake the tyre inflator bottle

times.

Firmly screw the inflation hose

onto the tyre inflator bottle

in a clock-
wise direction. The film on the cap is pierced automatically.

Remove the plug from the inflation hose

and push the open end fully on-
to the tyre valve.

Hold the bottle

with the bottom facing upwards and fill all of the sealing
agent from the tyre inflator bottle into the tyre.

Remove the filler plug from the tyre valve.
›
Screw the valve core back into the tyre valve using the valve remover

Inflating

Screw the air compressor tyre inflation hose

onto the tyre valve.

For vehicles with Manual transmission move the lever into the neutral posi-
tion and apply the parking brake firmly.

For vehicles with Automatic transmission move the selector lever to position
P and apply the parking brake firmly.

Start the engine and run it in idle.

Plug the connector

Switch on the air compressor with the ON and OFF switch

›
Allow the air compressor to run until a pressure of 2.0 - 2.5 bar is achieved.
Maximum run time of 8 minutes » .

Switch off the air compressor.

If you cannot reach an air pressure of 2.0 – 2.5 bar, unscrew the tyre inflation
hose

from the tyre valve.
›
Drive the vehicle 10 metres forwards or backwards to allow the sealing agent
to “distribute” in the tyre.
›
Firmly screw the tyre inflation hose

back onto the tyre valve and repeat
the inflation process.
›
If you still cannot reach the required tyre inflation pressure, this means the
tyre has sustained too much damage. You cannot seal with tyre with the
breakdown kit »
.
›
Switch off the air compressor. 
