Comfort
With the engine running, the front seats can be heated separately. Use the adjustment dial, placed on the side of each front seat, to switch on and select the level of heating required: 0 : Off. 1 : Low. 2 : Medium. 3 : High.
To raise the head restraint, pull it upwards. To remove the head restraint, press the lug A and pull the head restraint upwards. To put the head restraint back in place, engage the head restraint stems in the openings keeping them in line with the seat back.
To lower the head restraint, press the lug Aand the head restraint at the same time.
The head restraint is fitted with a frame with notches which prevents it from lowering; this is a safety device in case of impact. The adjustment is correct when the upper edge of the head restraint is
level with the top of the head. Never drive with the head restraints removed; they must be in place and adjusted correctly.

Comfort
In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and maintenance guidelines below: To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obstruct the exterior air intake grilles located at the base of the windscreen, the nozzles, the vents and the air outlets, as well as the air extractor located in the boot. Do not cover the sunshine sensor, located on the dashboard; this is used for regulation of the air conditioning system. Operate the air conditioning system for at least 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a month to keep it in per fect working order. Ensure that the passenger compartment filter is in good condition and have the filter elements replaced regularly. We recommend the use of a combined passenger compartment filter. Thanks to its special active additive, it contributes to the purification of the air breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of the passenger compartment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and greasy deposits). To ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system, you are also advised to have it checked regularly as recommended in the warranty and maintenance record. If the system does not produce cold air, switch it off and contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop. When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures, switching off the air conditioning increases the available engine power and so improves the towing ability.
Recommendations for ventilation and air conditioning
If after an extended stop in sunshine, the interior temperature is very high, first ventilate the passenger compartment for a few moments. Put the air flow control at a setting high enough to quickly change the air in the passenger compartment.
The air conditioning system does not contain chlorine and does not present any danger to the ozone layer.
The condensation created by the air conditioning results in a discharge of water under the vehicle which is per fectly normal.
Stop & Start
The heating and air conditioning systems only work when the engine is running. To maintain a comfortable temperature in the passenger compartment, you can temporarily deactivate the Stop & Start system (see the corresponding section).

Temperature adjustment
Turn the dial from blue (cold) to red (hot) to adjust the temperature to your requirements.
The air conditioning system only operates with the engine running.
Air fl ow adjustment
Turn the dial from position 1to position 6 to obtain a comfortable air flow.
If you put the air flow control in position 0 (system off), the temperature is no longer controlled. However, a slight flow of air can still be felt, resulting from the movement of the vehicle.

Automatic operation
Automatic comfort programme
Three modes are provided for the driver and for the front passenger to select their desired level
of comfort in the passenger compartment.
When the engine is cold, to prevent too great a distribution of cold air, the air flow will only reach its optimum level gradually.
In cold weather, it favours the distribution of warm air to the windscreen, the side windows and the footwells only.
Offers the best compromise between a comfortable temperature and quiet operation.
Provides soft and quiet operation by limiting air flow.
Provides strong and effective air flow.
Press the "AUTO" button repeatedly. The indicator lamp comes on at the first press; the mode activated appears in the digital air conditioning screen:.

Switch off the demisting/defrosting of the rear screen and door mirrors as soon as appropriate, as lower current consumption results in reduced fuel consumption.
Front demist - defrost
Rear screen
demist - defrost
The control button is located on the air conditioning system control panel.
These markings on the control panel indicate the control positions for rapid demisting or defrosting of the windscreen and side windows.
With manual air
conditioning
Switching on
The rear screen demisting/defrosting can only operate when the engine is running. Press this button to demist /defrost the rear screen and (depending on version) the door mirrors. The indicator lamp associated with the button comes on.
With Stop & Start, when demisting has been activated, the STOP mode is not available.
Switching off
The demisting/defrosting switches off automatically to prevent an excessive consumption of current. It is possible to stop the demisting/defrosting operation before it is switched off automatically by pressing the button again. The indicator lamp associated with the button goes off.
With dual-zone digital air
conditioning
Automatic visibility programme
Select this programme to demist or defrost the windscreen and side windows as quickly as possible. The system automatically manages the air conditioning, air flow and air intake, and provides optimum distribution towards the windscreen and side windows. To stop the programme, press either the "visibility" button again or "AUTO" , the warning lamp on the button goes off and the warning lamp in the "AUTO" button comes on.
The system reverts to the previous settings.
Put the air flow, temperature and distribution controls to the dedicated marked position. Press the "A /C " button for air conditioning; the indicator lamp in the button comes on.

Driving
Starting - Stopping the engine
Insert the key in the ignition switch. The system recognises the starting code. Turn the key fully towards the dashboard to position 3 (Starting) . When the engine starts, release the key.
Starting the engine
A heavy object (key fob...), attached to the key and weighing down on its shaft in the ignition switch, could cause a malfunction.
Key left in the "Ignition on" position
On opening the driver's door, an alert message is displayed, accompanied by an audible signal, to remind you that the key is still in the ignition switch at position 1 (Stop) .
Immobilise the vehicle. Turn the key fully towards you to position 1 (Stop) . Remove the key from the ignition switch.
Switching the engine off
If the key has been left in the ignition
switch at position 2 (Ignition on) , the ignition will be switched off automatically after one hour. To switch the ignition back on, turn the key to position 1 (Stop) , then back to position 2 (Ignition on) .
Free-wheeling
For safety reasons, do not free-wheel. When free-wheeling, some vehicle functions will no longer be active.
Switching off the engine leads to a loss of braking assistance.
With a manual gearbox , put the gear lever in neutral. With an electronic gearbox , put the gear lever at N . With an automatic gearbox , put the gear lever at P or N .
