zLeaks or damage to the drive battery mayresult in a fire. If you discover them, con-tact emergency services immediately.Since the fluid leak may be lithium man-ganite from the Lithium-ion battery, nevertouch any fluid leaking from the inside oroutside of the vehicle. If the fluid contactsyour skin or eyes, wash
it off immediately
with a large amount of water and receiveimmediate medical attention to help avoidserious injury.zIf you are unable to safely assess the vehi-cle due to vehicle damage, do not touchthe vehicle. Leave the vehicle and contactemergency services. Advise emergencyresponders that this is a Plug-in Hybridvehicle.zIf a fire occurs in this vehicle, leave thevehicle as soon as possible and contactemergency services. Do not attempt toextinguish a fire by yourself. If the fireinvolves a lithium-ion battery, it willrequire large, sustained volumes of waterfor extinguishment. Using a small amountof water or the incorrect fire extinguishercan result in serious injury or death fromelectrical shock.zWhen you leave the vehicle, if possible,open the windows, doors and tailgate toprevent accumulation of poisonous/com-bustible gasses. This will
also assist in the

zAs with any vehicle fire, the byproducts ofcombustion can be toxic. Do not inhalesmoke, vapors, or gas from the vehicle.Move to a safe distance upwind and uphillfrom the vehicle fire and out of the way ofany oncoming traffic while awaiting thearrival of emergency responders.zIf you detect leaking fluids, sparks, smoke,flames, gurgling, popping or hissing noisesoriginating from the high voltage batterycompartment, contact emergency servicesimmediately. This may result in a fire.zPhysical damage to the vehicle or highvoltage battery may result in immediate ordelayed release of toxic and/or flammablegases and fire.zIf your vehicle needs to be towed, trans-port the vehicle on a

This lamp is a part of anonboard diagnostic systemwhich monitors the emissions,engine control system.If a problem is detected in one
of these systems, this lamp illuminates orflashes.Although your vehicle will usually be driva-ble and not need towing, we recommend youto have the system checked as soon as possi-ble.This lamp will also illuminate when the oper-ation mode of the power switch is put in ON,and goes off after the Plug-in Hybrid EV Sys-tem has started. If it does not go off after thePlug-in Hybrid EV System has started, werecommend you to have the vehicle checked.
This data will be erased if a auxiliary batterycable is disconnected which will make a rapiddiagnosis difficult. Do not disconnect a auxil-iary battery cable when the check enginewarning lamp is ON.

recommend you to have it checked.•The brake warning lamp does not illumi-nate when the parking brake is applied ordoes not turn off when the parking brake isreleased.•The brake warning lamp and the ABSwarning lamp illuminate at the same time.For details, refer to “ABS warning lamp”on page 7-30.•The brake warning lamp remains illumi-nated while driving.
zThe vehicle should be brought to a halt in thefollowing manner when brake performancehas deteriorated.• Depress the brake pedal harder than usual.Even if the brake pedal moves down to thevery end of its possible stroke, keep itpressed down hard.
• Should the brakes fail, use regenerativebraking to reduce your speed and carefullypull the parking brake lever.Depress the brake pedal to operate the stoplamp to alert the vehicles behind you.

Yo u r v e h i c l e h a s b e e n d e s i g n e d p r i m a r i l y f o ruse on pavement.But its unique 4-wheel drive system allowsyou to occasionally travel on unpaved roads,to campgrounds, picnic sites, and similarlocations.Not only does this ensure better handling ondry, paved roads but also permits better trac-tion when driving on slippery, wet or snow-covered roads and when moving out of mud.But it is not suitable for heavy off road use ortowing in rough conditions.It is particularly important to note that 4-wheel drive may not give sufficient hillclimbing ability and regenerative brake onsteep slopes. You should try to avoid drivingon steep slopes.Also, you must exercise caution when drivingon sand and mud and when driving throughwater because sufficient traction may not beavailable in certain circumstances.Please avoid driving the vehicle through areaswhere the tyres may get stuck in deep sand ormud.

Since the driving torque can be applied to the4 wheels, the driving performance of thevehicle when operating in 4-wheel drive isgreatly affected by the condition of the tyres.Pay close attention to the tyres.zInstall only the specified tyres on allwheels. Refer to “Tyres and wheels” onpage 12-8.zBe sure all 4 tyres and wheels are thesame size and type.When it is necessary to replace any of thetyres or wheels, replace all four.zAll tyres should be rotated before thewear difference between the front and reartyres is recognisable.

1- “ACC ON/OFF” switch
Used to turn on and off ACC or thecruise control function.

4- “CANCEL” switch

d with the prevention
of overloading of the vehicle and with theselection of the proper equipment. If theseprecautions are taken and driving habits areregulated accordingly, the effects of towingtrailers and caravans can be minimized.It should be noted that damage to the vehiclecaused directly or indirectly by operatingunder conditions outside the limits set out onthis page will void the warranty, relative tosuch damage.
The legal authorities require that a trailer orcaravan be fitted with stop, tail and turn sig-nal lamps. An electrical kit can be fitted byyour authorized MITSUBISHI MOTORSdealer which meets legal requirements andcan be left on your vehicle permanently. Itmay be necessary to fit additional rear visionmirrors to both sides of your vehicle to giveclear vision past your trailer or caravan.Ensure that your trailer or caravan complieswith the regulations of the particular State inwhich you are travelling, e. g. lighting, safetychains, brakes, mass, etc. Check that yourtowbar tongue does not obscure your vehi-cle’s number plate when the trailer or caravanis disconnected. If it does, remove the tongueensuring that it is refitted securely when refit-ted.

Permissible towing load and requirements
CAUTIONzThe trailer brake and towing hitch require-ments as specified are minimum require-ments only and MITSUBISHI MOTORSrecommend that a trailer brake and a loaddistributing hitch is used whenever you aretowing, to improve
stopping distance and
towing stability.When using a load distributing hitch the loadon the trailer tyres increases. Do not exceedthe trailer tyre load rating.With all towing operations it is important tolimit the towing vehicle payload as noted.Failure to do so may result in exceeding themaximum load rating of the tyres. This rat-ing is marked on the tyre placard and mayalso be displayed on
the tyre sidewall.
