3 Door locks

To lock and unlock with the key (driver’s door)Turn the key toward the front of the vehicle to lock the door.
After checking that the door is locked, turn the key back to the
center and remove it.
WA R N I N G
!
Make sure all doors are tightly closed and locked
while driving.
• Locked doors, in combination with the use of seat
belts, can help reduce the risk of ejection in an
accident.
• Locked doors can help keep passengers, especially
small children, from opening doors and falling out
of moving vehicles.
• Locked doors can help prevent outsiders from
gaining access to your vehicle when you slow or
come to a stop.

Lock your vehicle whenever you leave it. Children
who get into unlocked vehicles may not be able to
get out. Children trapped inside vehicles can quickly
be overcome by heat and suffer serious injury or
death due to heat stroke.
Never leave a child alone in the vehicle. In addition
to the risk of heat stroke, children can activate
switches and controls, resulting in an injury or fatal
accident.
When closing a door, make sure that the door is fully
closed and the door-ajar warning display goes out
on the information screen on the multi-information
display. If the door is ajar it could open while driv-
ing and cause an accident.

NOTE
When locking or unlocking with the key, only the driver’s
door will be locked or unlocked.
To lock or unlock all doors and the liftgate, use the power
door lock switches, the keyless entry system or the
F.A.S.T-key operation. (if so equipped)
Refer to “Power door locks” on page 3-38, “Keyless entry
system” on pages 3-8 and 3-31, and “To operate using the
F.A.S.T.-key” on page 3-17.

In vehicles equipped with the F.A.S.T.-key, the passen-
ger’s door can be locked and unlocked using the emer-
gency key.
Refer to “Emergency key” on page 3-27.
To lock or unlock the door from the insideMove the lock knob to the lock position to lock the door.
All doors should be kept locked while driving.
The driver’s door can be unlocked without using the lock knob

2. Be sure the keys are not inside the vehicle. Close the door.

opened with the key in the ignition switch, the key reminder
buzzer will sound intermittently to remind you to remove the

When locking or unlocking with the key on the driver’s
door, only the driver’s door will lock or unlock.

Repeated continuous operation between lock and unlock
could activate the power door locking system’s built-in
protection circuit, and prevent the system from operating.
If this occurs, wait about 1 minute before operating the
power door lock switch.

pressing the power door lock switch on the driver’s or the front

Locking and unlocking the doors by using the power door

operation also locks and unlocks the liftgate. (if so

To openAfter unlocking the tailgate, pull the tailgate handle upward to
open.

It is dangerous to drive with the liftgate open since
carbon monoxide (CO) gas can enter the passenger
compartment.
CO is an invisible, odorless gas that can cause
unconsciousness and even death.
When opening and closing the liftgate, make sure
that there are no people nearby and be careful not to
hit your head or pinch your hands, neck, etc.
CAUTION
!
Do not stand behind the exhaust pipe when loading
and unloading luggage. Heat from the exhaust could
lead to burns.

Main switch

The main switch located on the driver’s door can be used to
operate all the windows.
A window can be opened or closed by operating the corre-
sponding switch.
Press the switch down to open the window, and pull up the
switch to close it.
If the driver’s door window switch is fully pressed down/pulled
up, the driver’s door window automatically opens/closes com-
pletely. (Type 1)
If the driver’s door window switch is fully pressed down, the
driver’s door window automatically opens completely. (Type
2)
If you want to stop the window movement, operate the switch
lightly in the reverse direction.
WA R N I N G
!
Before operating the power windows, make sure
that nothing can be trapped (head, hands, fingers,
etc.) in the window.
Never leave the vehicle without carrying the key.
Never leave children or unreliable adults unat-
tended inside the vehicle.
