Set the mode selection dial to the “ ” posi-tion and set the air selection switch (A) to theoutside air position. Turn the temperature control dial clockwise or counterclockwise to the desired tempera-ture. Select the best speed to fit your needs.
CAUTION When using the air conditioning, the idling speed may slightly increase as the air condi-tioning compressor is switched on/off auto- matically. Especially for vehicles with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) orTwin Clutch SST, while the vehicle is sta- tionary, fully depress the brake pedal to pre- vent the vehicle from creeping.
NOTE
 If a problem is detected in the air condition- ing compressor, the air conditioning indica- tor light (A) blinks. Press the air conditioning switch once to turn it off, then once more to turn it back on. If the air condi-tioning indicator light (A) does not blink, there is no problem. If it does blink, have it checked at an authorized Mitsubishi Motorsdealer or a repair facility of your choice.  Sometimes, for example after using a high- pressure car wash, the condenser can get wet, and the air conditioning indicator light (A) blinks temporarily. Wait for a while, pressthe air conditioning switch once to turn the system off, then once more to turn it back on. Once the water evaporates, the blinking willstop.

Set the mode selection dial to one of the posi-tions shown in the illustration and set the air selection switch (A) to the outside air posi- tion. Warm air flows to the leg area and unheated or slightly warm air (depending upon the position of the temperature control dial) flows to the upper part of the passenger compart-ment.
Cooling

NOTE
 If the outside air is dusty or contaminated in some way, push the air selection switch (A)to set it to the recirculation position. Let in some outside air from time to time for good ventilation.
 To cool the leg areas, set the mode selection dial to the “ ” position.NOTE
 When the temperature control dial is set to the “MAX A/C” position, the air condition-ing compressor will run automatically and the light will come on. The recirculation position will be selected automatically. Inthis case, you cannot turn the air condition- ing off or select the outside air position.NOTE
 When the temperature control dial is set to a position other than “MAX A/C”, the air selection will automatically change to out- side air. The air conditioning will revert to the previous condition in which the “MAXA/C” position was not selected.

Set the mode selection dial (between “ ” and “ ”) to remove frost or mist from the windshield and door window. Use this setting to keep the windshield and door windows clear of mist, and to keep the leg area heated (when driving in rain orsnow). 1. Set the mode selection dial to the “ ” position.

CAUTION For safety, make sure you have a clear view through all the windows.
For ordinary defrosting
NOTE
 While the mode selection dial is set between “ ” and “ ” position, the air condition- ing compressor will run automatically. The outside air position will also be automati- cally selected. (In this case, the air condition-ing indicator will not change.)
 While the between “ ” and “ ” position is selected, you cannot turn the air condition- ing off or select the recirculation position. This prevents the windows from fogging up.  To defog quickly, direct
the air flow from the
side vents toward the door windows.  When defrosting, do not set the temperature control dial near the “MAX A/C” cool posi- tion. This will blow cool air on the window glass and fog it up.

You can change the following functions to match your preference.  Enable automatic air control: When the air conditioning operates, theair selection switch will be automatically controlled.  Disable automatic air control: Even when the air conditioning operates, the air selection switch will not be auto-matically controlled.  Changing the settings Press the air selection switch for about 10 seconds or longer.When the setting has changed, the system will beep and the indicator light will flash. • When the setting has changed fromenabled to disabled, the system will beep three times and the indicator will flash three times.• When the setting has changed from dis- abled to enabled, the system will beep two times and theindicator light will flash three times.
NOTE
 When the air conditioning operates with the air selection switch (A) in the outside air position, the system automatically deter- mines whether to continue using outside air or to perform recirculation.If the outside temperature is high, the system selects recirculation to achieve rapid cooling and causes the air selection indicator in theswitch to illuminate. Press the air selection switch to return to outside air.CAUTION Using recirculated air for a long time may cause the windows to fog up.NOTE
