Changing lanes
If you change to the passing lane, DISTRONIC
PLUS supports you when:
R you are driving faster than 40 mph
(60 km/h).
R DISTRONIC PLUS is maintaining the
distance to a vehicle in front.
R you switch on the appropriate turn signal.
R DISTRONIC PLUS does not detect a danger
of collision.
If these conditions are fulfilled, your vehicle
is accelerated. Acceleration will be
interrupted if changing lanes takes too long
or if the distance between your vehicle and
the vehicle in front becomes too small.
i When changing lanes, DISTRONIC PLUS
monitors the left lane on left-hand drive
vehicles and the right lane on right-hand
drive vehicles.
Stopping G
WARNING
When leaving the vehicle, even if it is braked
only by DISTRONIC PLUS, it could roll away if:
R there is a malfunction in the system or in
the voltage supply.
R DISTRONIC PLUS has been deactivated
with the cruise control lever, e.g. by a
vehicle occupant or from outside the
vehicle.
R the electrical system in the engine
compartment, the battery or the fuses have
been tampered with.
R the battery is disconnected.
R the accelerator pedal has been depressed,
e.g. by a vehicle occupant.
There is a risk of an accident.
If you wish to exit the vehicle, always turn off
DISTRONIC PLUS and secure the vehicle
against rolling away.
If DISTRONIC PLUS detects that the vehicle
in front is stopping, it brakes your vehicle until
it is stationary. Once your vehicle is stationary, it remains
stationary and you do not need to depress the
brake.
i
Depending on the specified minimum
distance, your vehicle will come to a
standstill at a sufficient distance behind the
vehicle in front. The specified minimum
distance is set using the control on the
cruise control lever.
On steep uphill or downhill inclines or if there
is a malfunction, the transmission may also
automatically be shifted into position P.

Example: DISTRONIC PLUS displays in the

When DISTRONIC PLUS is activated, one or
two segments
0044in the set speed range light
up.
If DISTRONIC PLUS detects a vehicle in front,
segments 0044between speed of the vehicle in
front 0043and stored speed 0087light up.
i For design reasons, the speed displayed
in the speedometer may differ slightly from
the speed set for DISTRONIC PLUS. Driving systems

Make sure that Blind Spot Assist is
activated in the on-board computer
(Y page 213).
X Turn the SmartKey to position
2(Y page 139) in the ignition lock.
Warning lamps 0043in the exterior mirrors
light up red for approximately
1.5 seconds and then turn yellow. HOLD function
General notes The HOLD function can assist the driver in the
following situations:
R when pulling away, especially on steep
slopes
R when maneuvering on steep slopes
R when waiting in traffic
The vehicle is kept stationary without the
driver having to depress the brake pedal.
The braking effect is canceled and the HOLD
function deactivated when you depress the
accelerator pedal to pull away.
i Do not use the HOLD function when
driving off-road, on steep uphill or downhill
gradients or on slippery or loose surfaces.
The HOLD function cannot hold the vehicle
on such surfaces.
Activation conditions You can activate the HOLD function if:
R the vehicle is stationary.
R the engine is running or it has been
switched off by the ECO start/stop
function (AMG vehicles).
R the engine is running.
R the driver's door is closed or your seat belt
is fastened.
R the transmission is in position D,Ror N.
R DISTRONIC PLUS is deactivated. Activating the HOLD function The vehicle's brakes are applied when the
HOLD function is activated. For this reason,
deactivate the HOLD function while in the car
wash or while towing.
X
Make sure that the activation conditions
are met.
X Depress the brake pedal.
X Quickly depress the brake pedal further
until 00D9 appears in the multifunction
display.
The HOLD function is activated. You can
release the brake pedal.
i If depressing the brake pedal the first
time does not activate the HOLD function,
wait briefly and then try again.
Deactivating the HOLD function G
WARNING
When leaving the vehicle, it can still roll away
despite being braked by the HOLD function if:
R there is a malfunction in the system or in
the voltage supply.
R the HOLD function has been deactivated by
pressing the accelerator pedal or the brake
pedal, e.g. by a vehicle occupant.
R the electrical system in the engine
compartment, the battery or the fuses have
been tampered with.
R the battery is disconnected
There is a risk of an accident.
If you wish to exit the vehicle, always turn off
the HOLD function and secure the vehicle
against rolling away.
The HOLD function is deactivated
automatically if:
R you accelerate and the transmission is in
position Dor R.
R you shift the transmission to position P.188

12 V sockets
General notes !
If you are simultaneously using all three
sockets in the vehicle, make sure that you
do not exceed the maximum current draw
of 45 A. Otherwise, you will overload the
fuses.
The sockets can be used for accessories with
a maximum current draw of 180 W (15 A)
each, e.g. bulbs or chargers for mobile
phones.
If you use the sockets for long periods when
the engine is switched off, the battery may
discharge.
X Turn the SmartKey to position 2in the
ignition lock.
Socket in the front-passenger footwell X
Lift up the cover of the socket.
i The cigarette lighter socket can be also
used (Y page 264). This is the case even if
the SmartKey has been removed from the
ignition lock. Socket in the rear compartment The socket is located on the center console
in the rear compartment.
X
Lift up the cover of the socket.
Socket in the cargo compartment The socket is located in the cargo
compartment on the left-hand side, when
viewed in the direction of travel, next to the
rear door.

Lift up the cover of the socket. 115 V socket

WARNING
The 115 VAC power socket operates on high
voltage. Use the 115 V AC power socket in
the vehicle with the same caution and care
that you would take with power sockets at
home. Keep fluids away from the 115 V AC
power socket. Do not use liquids or sharp
tools to clean the power socket. Keep the
cover of the 115 V AC power socket closed Features

message for several seconds, e.g.:

Maintaining the time-dependent service
schedule:
X Before disconnecting the battery, note
down the service due date displayed.
or:
X After reconnecting the battery, subtract
the battery disconnection periods from the
service date shown on the display.
i The service interval display should not be
confused with the 00B2engine oil level
display.
The symbol and the letter indicate which type
of service is due:
0099 Minor service A
A
009B Major service B B
The ASSYST service interval display does not
take into account any periods of time during
which the battery is disconnected.
Hiding a service message X
To hide the service message, press the
0038 back button on the multifunction
steering wheel (Y page 31)(Ypage 207).
Displaying service messages Use the buttons on the multifunction steering
wheel.
X Switch on the ignition.
X Press 0080or007F to select the standard
display menu on the steering wheel
(Y page 208).
X Select 0041or0068 to select the service
interval display.
The 0099 or009B service symbol and the
service due date are displayed. Points to remember The specified maintenance interval takes only
the normal operation of the vehicle into
account. Under arduous operating conditions
or increased load on the vehicle,
maintenance work must be carried out more
frequently, for example:
R
regular city driving with frequent
intermediate stops
R if the vehicle is primarily used to travel
short distances
R use in mountainous terrain or on poor road
surfaces
R if the engine is often left idling for long
periods
Under these or similar conditions, have, for
example, the air filter, engine oil and oil filter
replaced or changed more frequently. Under
arduous operating conditions, the tires must
be checked more often. Further information
can be obtained at a qualified specialist
workshop, e.g. an authorized Mercedes-Benz
Center. Fuel/water separator
H
Environmental note
Dispose of service products in an
environmentally responsible manner.
! If you continue driving without having the
fuel/water separator serviced, this could
cause damage to the engine. Any resulting
damage is not covered by the warranty.
If the fuel/water separator needs servicing,
the following message appears in the
multifunction display: You will also hear a brief warning tone. Maintenance
