Problems with the side windows

WARNING
If you close a side window again immediately after it has been blocked or reset, the side window
closes with increased or maximum force. The reversing feature is then not active. Parts of the
body could be trapped in the closing area in the process. This poses an increased risk of injury
or even fatal injury.
Make sure that no parts of the body are in the closing area. To stop the closing process, release
the switch or push the switch again to reopen the side window. Problem Possible causes/consequences and

WARNING
If you do not fully open/close the soft top, the
soft-top hydraulics depressurize after a short
time. This causes the soft top to lower
unexpectedly and may cause you or others to
be trapped. There is a risk of injury.
Always open or close the soft top completely.
! Never sit on the soft-top compartment
cover or stow heavy objects there. You will
otherwise damage the soft top and soft-top
compartment cover of the vehicle. !
When opening and closing the soft top,
make sure that:
R there is sufficien tclearance above it, as
the soft top swings upwards.
R the trunk partition is closed.
R the trunk is only loaded to below the
trunk partition.
R the trunk partition is not pushed up by
the load.
R the trunk lid is closed.
R there are no objects on the soft-top
compartment cover
R the fabric is not dirty, wet or frozen.
You could otherwise damage the soft top,
trunk and other parts of the vehicle. Soft top (Cabriolet)

i Make sure that the soft top is dry and
clean before closing it. Otherwise, water or
dirt could enter the vehicle interior or trunk.
You can open or close the soft top:
R when the vehicle is stationary or
R when you do not exceed aspeed of
25 mph (40 km/h).
If there is a strong head wind, it may not be
possible to close the soft top fully. In this
case, reduce speed or stop in order to close
the soft top fully.
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz
recommends that you only open or close the
soft top when the vehicle is stationary.
If the soft top does not open or close fully, the
soft-top hydraulics are depressurized and the
soft top is lowered:
R after approximately 7minutes when the
ignition is switched on
R immediately if the ignition is switched off Opening and closing with the soft top

mechanism, the trunk lid, or the side

When opening or closing the roof, make sure

WARNING
If the vehicle speed exceeds 25 mph
(40 km/h) the soft top stops during the
opening or closing procedure. This impairs your view to the rear. There is a risk of an
accident.
Reduce your speed to below 25 mph
(40 km/h) or stop the vehicle in accordance
with the traffic conditions.P
ress or pull the
soft-top switch again in order to open or close
the soft top fully.

X Close the trunk lid.
X Turn the SmartKey to position 2in the
ignitio nlock.
X Open the cover in the lower center console. X
To open: pull soft-top switch 0002until the
entire soft top is stowed away in the trunk.
The Convertible Top in Operation message appears in the multifunction
display.
If, when opening, you drive at speeds above
25 (40 km/h), the opening procedure is
stopped. The
Open/Close Convertible Top Completely message appears in the
multifunction display .Inorder to open the
soft top fully, reduce yours peed again to
below 25 (40 km/h) and pull the soft-top
switch again.

WARNING
Closing the soft top manually is a complex,
technically challenging procedure which can
also be physically demanding. You or others
can become trapped. There is a risk of injury.
Where possible, have the soft top closed
manually at a qualified specialist workshop.
If the soft top cannot be closed automatically,
check the following points:
R is the trunk partition engaged
(Y page 106)?
R are the head restraints on the rear bench
seats extended?
R is the trunk lid closed?
R is the on-board voltage sufficient?
Start the engine if necessary.
If automatic operation still does not work, the
soft top can be closed manually.
To carry out this work, you will need the
assistance of another person.
Closing the soft top X
Apply the parking brake.
X Open the side windows.
X Lower the head restraints automatically
(Y page 119) or manually (Y page 119).
X Remove the SmartKey from the ignition
lock.
X Open the trunk.
X Take the two straps out of the vehicle tool
kit (Y page 328).
X Take the hex-socket wrench out of the
Operator's Manual wallet and keep it with

Make sure that the SmartKey is in position 2in the ignition lock. The trunk lid is open.

Visit a qualified specialist workshop. The head restraints in the rear compartment do not retract
automatically.
X
Lower the head restraints in the rear compartmen tmanually,
see the Digital Operator's Manual, keyword "Head restraint". The soft-top mechanism or control system is defective.
X
Close the sof ttop manually if necessary (Y page 101).
X Visit a qualified specialist workshop. The soft top has been opened and closed several times in a row.
The soft-top drive has been deactivated automatically for safety
reasons.
You can open and close the soft top again after approximately ten
minutes.
X
Switch off the ignition and turn it back on.
X Repeat the opening or closing procedure. Sliding sunroof (Coupe)

In the following section, the term "sliding
sunroof" refers to the panorama roof with
power tilt/sliding panel. G
WARNING
While opening and closing the sliding sunroof,
body parts in close proximity could become
trapped. There is a risk of injury. Make sure that no body parts are in close
proximity during the opening and closing
procedures.
If somebody becomes trapped:
R
release the switch immediately, or
R during automatic operation, push the
switch briefly in any direction
The opening or closing procedure will be

The left-hand and right-hand rear seat
backrests can be folded down separately to
increase the trunk capacity.
Folding the seat backrest forward i
Vehicles with memory function: when you
fold one or both parts of the rear seat
backrest forwards, the respective front
seat moves forward slightly, when
necessary, in order to avoid contact.
X Vehicles without memory function: if
necessary, move the driver's or front-
passenger seat forwards.
X Open the trunk.
X Pull right-hand or left-hand rear seat
backrest release handle 0002.
The corresponding rear seat backrest is
released. X
Fold rear seat backrest 0003forwards.
X Move the driver's or front-passenger seat
back if necessary. Folding the seat backrest back !
Make sure that the seat belt does not
become trapped when folding the rear seat
backrest back. Otherwise, it could be
damaged. X
Move the driver's or front-passenger seat
forward if necessary.
X Fold rear seat backrest 0002back until it
engages.
If the rear seat backrest is not engaged and
locked, this will be shown in the
multifunction display in the instrument
cluster. Awarning tone also sounds.
X Move the driver's or front-passenger seat
back if necessary.
i You should always engage the rear seat
backrests if you do no tneed the through-
loading feature. This will prevent
unauthorized access to the trunk from the
