Maintaining the time-dependent service
schedule:
X Note down the servic eduedate displayed
in the multifunctio ndisplay before
disconnecting the battery.
or
X After reconnecting the battery, subtract
the battery disconnection periods fro mthe
service date shown on the display.
Hiding aservice message X

Information about Service Resetting the ASSYST PLUS service
interval display

If the ASSYST PLUS service interval
displayh as been inadvertently reset, this
settingc an be corrected at aqualified
specialist workshop.
Have service work carried out as described
in the MaintenanceB ooklet. This may
otherwise lead to increased wear and
damage to the major assemblies or the
vehicle.
Aq ualified specialist workshop, e.g. an
authorize dMercedes-Ben zCenter, will reset
the ASSYST PLUS servic einterval display
after the servic ework has been carried out.
You can also obtain further information on
maintenanc ework, for example.
Special service requirements
The specified maintenanc einterval takes only
the normal operation of the vehicle into
account. Under arduous operatin gconditions
or increased load on the vehicle,
maintenanc ework must be carried out more
frequently, for example:
R regular city driving with frequent
intermediate stops
R if the vehicle is primarily used to travel
short distances
R use in mountainous terrain or on poor road
surfaces
R if the engin eisoften left idling for long

Under these or similarc
onditions, have, for
example, the air filter, engine oil and oil filter
replaced or changed more frequently. Under
arduous operating conditions, the tires must
be checked more often.F urther information

Center.

Environmental note
Dispose of empty packagin gand cleaning
cloth sinane nvironmentally responsible
manner.
! For cleanin gyour vehicle, do not use any
of the following:
R dry, rough or hard cloths
R abrasive cleanin gagents
R solvents
R cleanin gagents containin gsolvents
Do not scrub.
Do not touch the surfaces or protective
films with hard objects, e.g. aring or ice
scraper. You could otherwise scratch or
damage the surfaces and protective film.
! Do not park the vehicle for an extended
period straight after cleanin git, particularly
after having cleaned the wheels with wheel
cleaner. Wheel cleaners could cause
increased corrosion of the brake discs and
brake pads/linings. For this reason, you
should drive for afew minutes after
cleaning. Braking heats the brake discs and
the brake pads/linings, thus drying them.
The vehicle can then be parked. Regular care of your vehicle is
acondition for
retaining the quality in the long term.

Benz. Washing the vehicle and cleaning the
paintwork
Automatic car wash G
WARNING
Braking efficiency is reduced after washing
the vehicle. There is arisk of an accident.
After the vehicle has been washed, brake
carefully while paying attention to the traffic
conditions until full brakin gpower is restored.
! If DISTRONIC PLUS or the HOLD function
is activated, the vehicle brakes
automatically in certain situations. To
preven tdamage to th evehicle ,deactivate
DISTRONI CPLUS and the HOLD function in
the following or other similar situations:
R when towing the vehicle
R in the car wash
! Never clean yourv ehicle inaTouchless
Automatic Car Wash as these use special
cleanin gagents .These cleaning agents can
damage the paintwork or plastic parts.
! Make sure that:
R the side windows and the sliding sunroof
are fully closed.
R the ventilation/heating is switched off
(the OFF button has been pressed).
R the windshield wiper switch is in position
0.
Otherwise, the vehicle might be damaged.
! In car washes with atowing mechanism,
make sure that the automatic transmission
is in transmission position N,otherwise the
vehicle could be damaged.

Damaged seals or electrical components
can lead to leaks or failures.
Cleaning the paintwork !
Do not affix:
R stickers
R films
R magnetic plates or similar items
to painted surfaces .You could otherwise
damage the paintwork.
Scratches, corrosive deposits, areas affected
by corrosion and damage caused by
inadequate care cannot always be completely
repaired. In such cases, visit aqualified
specialist workshop.
X Remove dirt immediately, where possible,
while avoiding rubbing too hard.
X Soak insect remains with insect remover
and rinse off the treated areas afterwards.
X Soak bird droppings with water and rinse
off the treated areas afterwards.
X Remove coolant, brake fluid, tree resin,
oils, fuels and greases by rubbing gently
with acloth soaked in petroleum ether or
lighter fluid.
X Use tar remover to remove tar stains.
X Use silicone remover to remove wax.
If water no longer forms "beads" on the paint
surface, use the paint care products
recommended and approved by Mercedes-
Benz.T his is the case approximately every
three to five months, depending on the
climate conditionsa nd the care product used.
If dirt has penetrated the paint surface or if
the paint has become dull, the paint cleaner
recommended and approved by Mercedes-
Benz should be used. Do not use these care products in the sun or
on the hood while the hood is hot.
X
Use asuitable touch-up stick,e .g. MB
Touch-Up Stick, to repair slight damage to
the paintwork quickly and provisionally.
Mattef inish care !
Never polish the vehicle or the light alloy
wheels. Polishing causes the finish to
shine.
! The following may cause the paint to
become shiny and thus reduce the matte
effect:
R Vigorous rubbing with unsuitable
materials.
R Frequent use of car washes.
R Washing the vehicle in direct sunlight.
! Never use paint cleaner, buffing or
polishing products, or gloss preserver, e.g.
wax. These products are only suitable for
high-gloss surfaces. Their use on vehicles
with matte finish leads to considerable
surface damage (shiny, spotted areas).
Always have paintwork repairs performed
at aq ualified specialist workshop, e.g. an
authorized Mercedes-Ben zCenter.
! Do not use wash programs with ahot wax
treatment under any circumstances.
Observe these notes if your vehicle has a
clear matt efinish. This will help you to avoid
damage to the paintwork due to incorrect
treatment.
These notes also apply to light alloy wheels
with aclear matt efinish.
i The vehicle should preferably be washed
by hand using asoft sponge, car shampoo
and plenty of water.
i Use only insec tremover and car shampoo
from the range of recommended and
approved Mercedes-Benz care products. Care

Befor ecleaning the display ,make sure that
it is switched off and ha scooled down.
X Clean the display surface using a
commercially available microfiber cloth
and TFT/LCD display cleaner.
X Dry the display surface using adry
microfiber cloth.
Cleaning Night View Assist Plus !
Never clean the camera lens. When
cleaning the field of vision of the driving
systems, make sure that you do not spray
glass cleaner on the camera lens. If the
camera lens is dirty, visit aqualified
specialist workshop. X
Fold down the camera cover by recess 001A.X
Use asoft cloth to clean the windshield in
front of camera 0010. Cleaning the plastic trim G
WARNING
Care products and cleaning agents containing
solvent scause surfaces in the cockpit to
become porous. As aresult, plastic parts may
come loose in the event of air bag
deployment. There is arisk of injury.
Do not use any care products and cleaning
agents to clean the cockpit.
! Do not affix the following to plastic
surfaces:
R stickers
R films
R scented oil bottles or similar items
You can otherwise damage the plastic.
! Do not allow cosmetics, insect repellent
or sunscreen to come into contact with the
plastic trim. This maintains the high-quality
look of the surfaces.
X Wipe the plastic trim with adamp, lint-free
cloth, e.g. amicrofiber cloth.
X Heavy soiling: use care and cleaning
products recommended and approved by
Mercedes-Benz.
The surface may change color temporarily.
Wait until the surface is dry again.
Cleaning the steering wheel and gear or
selector lever X
Thoroughly wipe with adamp cloth or use
leather care agents that have been
recommended and approved by Mercedes-
Benz.
Cleaning genuine wood and trim
elements !
Do not use solvent-based cleaning agents
such as tar remover, wheel cleaners,
polishes or waxes. There is otherwise arisk
of damaging the surface.
! Do not use chrome polish on trim pieces.
The trim pieces have achrome look but are 316

mostly made of anodized aluminum and
can lose their shine if chrome polish is
used .Use ad amp, lint-free cloth instead
when cleaning the trim pieces.
If the chrome-plated trim pieces are very
dirty, you can use achrome polish. If you
are unsure as to whether the trim pieces
are chrome-plated or not, consult an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
X Wipe the wooden trim and trim pieces with
ad amp, lint-free cloth, e.g. amicrofiber
cloth.
X Heavy soiling: use car care and cleaning
products recommended and approved by
Mercedes-Benz.
Cleaning the seat covers General notes
!
Do not use microfiber cloths to clean
genuine leather, artificial leather or
Alcantara® covers. If used often, these can
damage the cover.
i Note that regularc are is essential to
ensure that th eappearanc eand comfort of
th ec oversisr etaine dovertime.
Genuin eleather seat covers
Leather is anatural product.
It exhibits natural surface characteristics, for
example:
R Differences in the texture
R Sign sofs tretchin gand marking
R Sligh tnuances of color
Thes eare characteristics of leather and not
material defects. !
To retain th enatural appearanc eofthe
leather ,observ ethe followin gcleaning
instructions:
R Clean genuine leathe rcovers carefully
with adamp cloth and then wipe the
covers down with adry cloth.
R Make sure that the leather does not
become soaked. It may otherwise
become rough and cracked.
R Only use leather care agents that have
been tested and approved by Mercedes-
Benz.Y ou can obtain these from a
qualified specialist workshop.
Seat covers of other materials
! Observe the following when cleaning:
R Clean artificial leather covers with acloth
moistened with asolution containing
1% detergent (e.g. dish washing liquid).
R Clean cloth covers with amicrofiber
cloth moistened with asolution
containing 1% detergent (e.g. dish
washing liquid). Rub carefully and always
wipe entires eat sectionstoavoid leaving
visible lines. Leave the seat to dry
afterwards. Cleaning results depend on
the type of dirt and how long it has been
there.
R Clean Alcantara® covers with adamp
cloth. Make sure that you wipe entire
seat section stoavoid leaving visible
lines.
Cleaning the seat belts G
WARNING
Seat belts can become severely weakened if
bleached or dyed. This could cause the seat
belts to tear or fail, for instance, in the event
of an accident .This poses an increased risk
of injury or fatal injury.
Never bleach or dye the seat belts.
! Do not clean the seat belts using chemical
cleaning agents. Do not dry the seat belts Care

if these are installed in the vehicle, but does
not include passengers or luggage.
Maximu mload rating
The maximum tir eload is the maximum
permissible weight in kilograms or lbs for
which atireisa pproved.
Maximu mpermissible tir epressure
Maximum permissible tir epressure for one
tire.
Maximu mload on one tire
Maximum load on one tire. This is calculated
by dividin gthe maximum axle load of one axle
by two.
PSI (pounds per squar einch)
As tandar dunitofm easure for tire pressure.
Aspect ratio
Relationship between tire height and tire
width in percent.
Tirep ressure
This is pressure inside the tire applying an
outward forc etoeach square inch of the tire's
surface. The tire pressure is specified in
pounds per square inch (psi), in kilopascal
(kPa) or in bar. The tire pressure should only
be corrected when the tires are cold.
Cold tirep ressure
The tires are cold:
R if the vehicle has been parked without
direct sunlight on the tires for at least three
hours and
R if the vehicle has been driven for less than
1m ile (1.6 km). Tread
The part of the tire that comes intoc
ontact
with the road.
Bead
The tire bead ensures that the tire sits
securely on the wheel. There are several steel
wires in the bead to preven tthe tire from
comin gloose from the wheel rim.
Sidewall
The part of the tire between the tread and the
bead.
Weight of optional extras
The combined weight of those optional extras
that weigh more than the replaced standard
parts and more than 2.3 kilograms (5 lbs).
These optional extras, such as high-
performance brakes, level control, aroof rack
or ah igh-performanc ebattery, are not
included in the curb weight and the weight of
the accessories.
TIN (Tire Identification Number)
This is aunique identifier which can be used
by atire manufacturer to identify tires, for
example for aproduct recall, and thus identify
the purchasers. The TIN is made up of the
manufacturer's identity code, tire size, tire
type code and the manufacturing date.
Load bearing index
The load bearing index (also load index) is a
code that contains the maximum load bearing
capacity of atire.
Traction
Traction is the result of friction between the
tires and the road surface.
Treadwear indicators
Narrow bars (tread wear bars) that are
distributed over the tire tread. If the tire tread
is level with the bars, the wear limit of 0014in
(1.6 mm) has been reached. 356

Information on driving with MOExtended tires
in the event of aflat tire can be found under
"MOExtended tires (tires with run-flat
characteristics" (Y page 321).
Vehicle with emergency sparew heel:in
the event of aflat tire, the emergenc yspare
wheel is mounted as described under
"Mounting awheel" ( Ypage 358). Rotating the wheels

WARNING
Interchangin gthe front and rear wheels may
severely impair the driving characteristics if
the wheels or tires have different dimensions.
The wheel brakes or suspension components
may also be damaged. There is arisk of
accident.
Rotate front and rear wheels only if the wheels
and tires are of the same dimensions.
! On vehicles equipped with atire pressure
monitor, electronic components are
located in the wheel.
Tire-mounting tools should not be used
near the valve. This could damage the
electronic components.
Only have tires changed at aqualified
specialist workshop. Always observe the instructions and safety
notes in the "Mounting
awheel" section
(Y page 358).
The wear patternsont he front and rear tires
differ, depending on the operating conditions.
Rotate the wheels before aclear wear pattern
has formed on the tires. Front tires typically
wear more on the shoulders and the rear tires
in the center.
If your vehicle's tire configuration allows, you
can rotate the wheels according to the
intervals in the tire manufacturer's warranty
book in your vehicle documents. If this is not
available, the tires should then be replaced
every 3,000 to 6,000 miles (5,000 to
10,000 km), or earlier if the tire wear requires
this. Do not change the direction of wheel
rotation.
Cleant he contact surfaces of the wheel and
the brake disc thoroughly every time awheel
is interchanged. Check the tire pressure and,
if necessary, restart the tire pressure loss
warning system or the tire pressure monitor. Direction of rotation
Tires with aspecified direction of rotation
have additional benefits, e.g. if there is arisk
of hydroplaning. You will only gain these
benefits if the correct direction of rotation is
maintained.
An arrow on the sidewall of the tire indicates
its correct direction of rotation. Storing wheels
Storew heels that are not being used in acool,
dry and preferably dark place. Protect the
tires from oil, grease, gasoline and diesel. Cleaningt

beneath the jacking point.
X Turn crank 0021clockwise until jack 0024sits
completely on jacking point 0010and the
base of the jack lies evenly on the ground.
X Turn crank 0021until the tire is raised a
maximum of 1.2 in (3 cm) off the ground. Removing
awheel !
AMG vehicles: during removaland
repositioning of the wheel, the wheel rim
can strike the ceramic-brake disc and
damage it. Therefore, take precautions and
get asecond perso ntoassist you.
Alternatively, you can use asecond
alignment bolt.
! Do not place wheel bolts in sand or on a
dirty surface. The bolt and wheel hub
threads could otherwise be damaged when
you screw them in. X
Unscrew the uppermost wheel bolt
completely.
X Screw alignment bolt 001Ainto the thread
instead of the wheel bolt.
X Unscrew the remaining wheel bolts fully.
X Remove the wheel.
Mounting anew wheel G
WARNING
Oiled or greased wheel bolt sordamaged
wheel bolts/hub threads can cause th ewheel
bolt stoc omeloose .Asa result, you could
lose awheel while driving. There is arisk of
accident.
Never oil or grease wheel bolts. In the event
of damage to the threads, contact aqualified
specialist workshop immediately.H ave the
damage dwheel bolt sorhub threads
replaced/renewed. Do no tcontinue driving. 360
