Maintenance and care
■Use a CR1632 lithium battery
●Batteries can be purchased at any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional, local electrical appliance shops or camera stores.
●Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.
●Dispose of used batteries according to the local laws.
■When the card key battery needs to be replaced (if equipped)
The battery for the card key is available only at Lexus dealers. any authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional can replace the
battery for you.
■If the electronic key battery is depleted
The following symptoms may occur:
●The smart entry & start system and wireless remote control will not function properly.
●The operational range will be reduced.

■Removed battery and other parts
These parts are small and if swallowed by a child, they can cause choking. Keep away
from children. Failure to do so could result in death or serious injury.
■Certification for the smart entry & start system
RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT TYPE.
DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS

Emergency flashers
Press the switch.
All the turn signal lights will flash. To turn
them off, press the switch once again.
■Emergency flashers
If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the hybrid system is not operat-
ing (while the “READY” indicator is not illu minated), the 12-volt battery may discharge.
The emergency flashers are used to warn other drivers when the vehicle has
to be stopped in the road due to a breakdown, etc.

If your vehicle needs to be towed
In the following situations, it is not possible to be towed by another vehicle using
cables or chains, as the front wheels m ay be locked due to the parking lock. Con-
tact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional or commercial towing service.
●There is a malfunction in the shift control system. ( →P. 577)
●There is a malfunction in the immobilizer system. ( →P. 7 9 )
●There is a malfunction in the smart entry & start system. ( →P. 565)
●The 12-volt battery is discharged. ( →P. 5 6 7 )
The following may indicate a problem with your hybrid transmission. Contact any
authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped pro-
fessional or commercial towing service before towing.
●The hybrid warning message shows on the multi-information display and the
vehicle does not move.
●The vehicle makes an abnormal sound.
Do not tow with a sling-type truck to
prevent body damage.
If towing is necessary, we recommend having your vehicle towed by any
authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped
professional or commercial towing servic e, using a lift-type truck or flat bed
truck.
Use a safety chain system for all towing, and abide by all state/provincial and
local laws.

*1: Brake system warning buzzer:When there is a possible problem that coul d affect braking performance, the warning
light will come on and a warning buzzer will sound.

*3: Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt buzzer:
The driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt buzzer sounds to alert the driver and front
passenger that his or her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds for 30 seconds
after the vehicle reaches a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph). Then, if the seat belt is still
unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 90 more seconds.
*4: Rear passengers’ seat belt buzzer:The rear passengers’ seat belt buzzer sounds to alert the driver that the rear seat belt
is not fastened. The buzzer sounds for 30 seconds after the vehicle reaches a speed
of 20 km/h (12 mph). Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a
different tone for 90 more seconds.
*5: If the rear seat belt is not fastened, the lig ht will go off after a short period of time.
■Front passenger detection sensor, seat belt reminder and warning buzzer
●If luggage is placed on the front passenge r seat, the front passenger detection sensor
may cause the warning light to flash and the warning buzzer to sound even if a passen-
ger is not sitting in the seat.
●If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger, and the warn-
ing light may not operate properly.
■Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
When the 12-volt battery charge becomes insu fficient or the voltage temporarily drops,
the electric power steering system warning light may come on and the warning buzzer
may sound.

Tire pressure warning light When the light comes on:
Low tire inflation pressure such as
• Natural causes ( →P. 5 1 9 )
• Flat tire ( →P. 539, 551)
→ Adjust the tire inflation pre ssure to the specified level.
The light will turn off after a few minutes. In case the light does
not turn off even if the tire inflation pressure is adjusted, have the
system checked by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
When the light comes on af ter blinking for 1 minute:

Indicates that the accelerator pedal is depressed to stop
the vehicle on an upward slope etc. A buzzer also sounds.
If this continues, the hybrid system may overheat.
→ Release the accelerator pedal and depress the
brake pedal.
Indicates that the traction battery power has dropped
because a long period of time has elapsed after shifting
the shift position to N

→ Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and
contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
Indicates that the traction battery is low
A buzzer also sounds.
→ When stopping the vehicle for a long period of time,
shift the shift position to P. The battery cannot be
charged with the shift position in N.
Indicates that the vehicle is being driven at 5 km/h (3
mph) or more with the parking brake still engaged
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Release the parking brake.

Indicates a malfunction in the shift control system A buzzer also sounds.
→ Have the vehicle inspected at any authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional immediately.
• The hybrid system may not be able to start.
• The parking lock mechanism may not operate. Also, shifting the shift position to P may not be possible.
When parking, choose a level place and apply the
parking brake securely.
• The automatically P position selection function ( →P. 1 8 6 )
may not operate. Before turning the power switch off,
securely press the P position switch, and be sure to check
that the shift position is in P by verifying the shift position
indicator or P position switch indicator.
• The power switch may not be able to be turned off. In this case, the power switch can be turned off by apply-
ing the parking brake.
• The 12-volt battery may not be charged sufficiently. In this case, charge or replace the 12-volt battery.
After charging the 12-volt battery, the message may
continue to be displayed until the shift position is
shifted from P.
Indicates a malfunction in the shift control systemA buzzer also sounds.

If not inspected, vehicle systems may not operate
