If there is a malfunction with either
the alternator or electrical charging
system:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe
location and stop your vehicle.
2. Turn the engine off and check the alternator drive belt for looseness
or breakage.
If the belt is adjusted properly,
there may be a problem in the
electrical charging system.
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer as soon as possible.Engine Coolant Temperature WarningLight (if equipped)
This warning light illuminates:
When the engine coolant tempera- ture is above 120°C (248°F). This
means that the engine is overheat-
ed and may be damaged.
If your vehicle is overheated, refer
to "Overheating" in chapter 6.
Engine Oil Pressure
Warning Light
This warning light illuminates:
Once you set the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop Button to the ON
position.
- It remains on until the engine isstarted.
When the engine oil pressure is low.
If the engine oil pressure is low:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop your vehicle.
2. Turn the engine off and check the engine oil level (For more details,
refer to "Engine Oil" in section 7).
If the level is low, add oil as
required.
If the warning light remains on
after adding oil or if oil is not avail-
able, have your vehicle inspected
by an authorized Kia dealer as
soon as possible.
CAUTION - Engine
Overheating
Do not drive the vehicle when the Engine Coolant TemperatureWarning Light is illuminated orthe engine is overheated.Continuing to drive the vehiclewhile it is overheated may dam-age the engine.

Low Fuel Level WarningLight
This warning light illuminates:
When the fuel tank is nearly empty.
If the fuel tank is nearly empty:
Add fuel as soon as possible.
CAUTION - Engine Oil
Pressure
Warning Light
If the engine is not stopped immediately after the EngineOil Pressure Warning Light isilluminated, severe damagecould result.
If the warning light stays on while the engine is running,there may be serious enginedamage. In this case,
1. Stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
2. Turn off the engine and check the oil level. If the oillevel is low, fill the engineoil to the proper level.
3. Start the engine again. If the warning light stays on afterthe engine is started, turnthe engine off immediately.In this case, have your vehi-cle inspected by an author-ized Kia dealer.
CAUTION - Low Fuel
Level
Driving with the Low Fuel Levelwarning light on or with the fuellevel below can cause theengine to misfire and damagethe catalytic converter (ifequipped).

When the tailgate is not closed

Washer Fluid WarningLight (if equipped)

When the washer fluid level in the reservoir is nearly empty.
In this case, you should refill the
washer fluid.
Indicator Lights
Electronic Stability
Control (ESC) IndicatorLight (if equipped)
This indicator light illuminates:
Once you set the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop Button to the ON
position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When there is a malfunction with the ESC system.
In this case, have your vehicle

This indicator light blinks:
While the ESC is operating.

This indicator light illuminates:
Once you set the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop Button to the ON
position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When you deactivate the ESC sys- tem by pressing the ESC OFF but-
ton.

ECOMINDER®indicator
Active ECO system
This indicator light illuminates:
When the Active ECO button is
pressed the ECOMINDER
®indicator
(green) will illuminate to show that
the Active ECO is operating.

Immobilizer Indicator
Light (Without Smart Key)
This indicator light illuminates:
When the vehicle detects the immobilizer in your key properly
while the ignition switch is ON.
- At this time, you can start theengine.
- The indicator light goes off after starting the engine.
This indicator light blinks:
When there is a malfunction with the immobilizer system.
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer.

Immobilizer Indicator
Light (With Smart Key)
This indicator light illuminates for up
to 30 seconds:
When the vehicle detects the smart key in the vehicle properly
while the Engine Start/Stop Button
is ACC or ON.
- At this time, you can start theengine.
- The indicator light goes off after starting the engine.
This indicator light blinks for a few
seconds:
When the smart key is not in the vehicle.
- At this time, you can not start theengine. This indicator light illuminates for 2
seconds and goes off:
When the vehicle can not detect
the smart key which is in the vehi-
cle while the Engine Start/Stop
Button is ON.
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer.
This indicator light blinks:
When the battery of the smart key is weak.
- At this time, you can not start theengine. However, you can start
the engine if you press the Engine
Start/Stop Button with the smart
key. (For more details, refer to
"Starting the Engine" in section
5).
When there is a malfunction with the immobilizer system.
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer.
Turn Signal Indicator
Light
This indicator light blinks:
When you turn the turn signal light on.
If any of the following occurs, there
may be a malfunction with the turn
signal system. In this case, have your
vehicle inspected by an authorized
Kia dealer. - The indicator light does not blinkbut illuminates.
- The indicator light blinks more rapidly.
- The indicator light does not illumi- nate at all.

When the ENGINE START/STOP
button is in the ACC or ON position,
if any door is open, the system
checks for the smart key.
This indicator light blinks:
When the smart key is not in the
vehicle and any door is open with the
ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop
button in the ACC or ON position.
- At this time, if you close all doors, the chime will also sound for
approximately 5 seconds.
- The indicator will go off while the vehicle is moving.

Operation of the parking assist
system
Operating condition
This system will activate when theparking assist button is pressed
with the engine running. Sensing distance in backing up is
approximately 120 cm (47 in) when
you are driving less than 10 km/h
(6.21 mph ).
Sensing distance in moving for- ward is approximately 60 cm
(23.62 in) when you are driving
less than 10 km/h (6.21 mph).
When more than two objects are sensed at the same time, the clos-
est one will be recognized first.
If you move the shift lever to the R position with the engine start/stop
button in the ON position and the
parking assist system in OFF, the
parking assist system will operate
automatically. But it will turn off
automatically, when the vehicle
speed exceeds than 20km/h
(12.4 mph)
✽ ✽ NOTICE
The parking assist system may not
operate if it’s distance from the object
is already less than approximately 25
cm (9.84 in) when the system is ON.

Non-operational conditions of
parking assist system
Parking assist system may notoperate when:
1. Moisture is frozen to the sensor. (It will operate normally when mois-
ture melts.)
2. Sensor is covered with foreign matter, such as snow or water, or
the sensor cover is blocked. (It will
operate normally when the materi-
al is removed or the sensor is no
longer blocked.)
3. Sensor is stained with foreign mat- ter such as snow or water.
(Sensing range will return to nor-
mal when removed.)
There is a possibility that the park-
ing assist system may not operatewhen:
1. Driving on uneven road surfaces such as unpaved roads, gravel,
bumps, or gradient.
2. Objects generating excessive noise such as vehicle horns, loud motor-
cycle engines, or truck air brakes
interfere with the sensor.
3. Heavy rain or water spray.
4. Wireless transmitters or mobile phones are present near the sen-
sor.
5. Sensor is covered with snow.
Detection range may decrease when:
1. Outside air temperature is extremely hot or cold.
2. There are undetectable objects smaller than 1 m (39.37 in) and
narrower than 14 cm (5.51 in) in
diameter.
The following objects may not be
recognized by the sensor:
1. Sharp or slim objects such as ropes, chains or small poles.
2. Objects, which tend to absorb sen- sor frequency such as clothes,
spongy material or snow.
