4.Fold the seatback toward the frontof the vehicle.
5. To use the rear seat, lift and pull the seatback rearward. Pull the
seatback firmly until it clicks into
place. Make sure the seatback is
locked in place.
When you return the seatback to
its upright position, always be sure
it has locked into position by push-
ing on the top of the seatback.
6. Return the rear seat belt to the proper position.

WARNING
When returning the rear seat-
back from a folded to an upright
position, hold the seatback and
return it slowly. Ensure that the
seatback is completely locked
into its upright position by
pushing on the top of the seat-
back. In an accident or sudden
stop, the unlocked seatback
could allow cargo to move for-
ward with great force and enter
the passenger compartment,
which could result in serious
injury or death.
WARNING
Do not place objects in the rear
seats, since they cannot be
properly secured and may hit
vehicle occupants in a collision
causing serious injury or death.
WARNING
Make sure the engine is off, the
shift lever is in P (Park), and the
parking brake is securely
applied whenever loading or
unloading cargo. Failure to take
these steps may allow the vehi-
cle to move if the shift lever is
inadvertently moved to another
position.

Armrest
The armrest is located in the center
of the rear seat. Pull the armrest
down from the seatback to use it.
You will find cup holders on the cen-
ter armrest. Carrying long/narrow cargo
(if equipped)
Pull the armrest down using the strap
provided on the armrest. Pull the
cover down while pushing the release
lever (1) down. Additional cargo
space is provided to accommodate
long/narrow cargo (skis, poles, lum-
ber, etc.) not able to fit properly in the
trunk when closed.

CAUTION
Make sure the engine is off,
the transaxle is in P and theparking brake is appliedwhenever loading or unload-ing cargo. Vehicle may move ifshift lever is inadvertentlymoved to another position.
Be careful when loading cargo through the rear passengerseats to prevent damage tothe vehicle interior.
When cargo is loaded through the rear passenger seats,ensure the cargo is properlysecured to prevent it frommoving while driving.
Unsecured cargo in the pas-senger compartment cancause damage to the vehicleor injury to it’s occupants.

Auto door lock/unlock features
Impact sensing door unlock sys-
tem (if equipped)
All doors will be automatically
unlocked when an impact causes the
air bags to deploy.
Speed sensing door lock system(if equipped)
All doors will be automatically locked
when vehicle speed exceeds 9 mph
(15 km/h).
WARNING - Always
secure your vehicle
Leaving your vehicle unlocked
increases the potential risk to
you or others from someone
hiding in your vehicle.
To secure your vehicle, while
depressing the brake, move the
shift lever to the P (Park) posi-
tion (for automatic transaxle) or
first gear or R (Reverse, for
manual transaxle), engage the
parking brake, and place the
ignition switch in the LOCK/OFF
position, close all windows,
lock all doors, and always take
the key with you.WARNING
Opening a door when something
is approaching may cause dam-
age or injury. Be careful when
opening doors and watch for
vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles
or pedestrians approaching the
vehicle in the path of the door.

Opening the trunk
1. Make sure the shift lever is in P(Park, for automatic transaxle) or first
gear or R (Reverse, for manual
transaxle) and set the parking brake.
2. Perform one of the following:
- Press the remote key or smartkey Trunk Unlock button for more
than one second.
- Press the button on the trunk itself with the smart key in your
possession.
- Press the button on the trunk itself when all doors are unlocked.
- Use the mechanical key. - Use the trunk release lever.
Closing the trunk
Lower the trunk lid and press down
until it locks. To be sure the trunk lid
is securely fastened, always check
by trying to pull it up again.

In cold and wet climates, trunk locks
and trunk mechanisms may not
work properly due to freezing condi-
tions.

Opening the hood
1. Make sure the shift lever is in P(Park, for automatic transaxle) or
first gear or R (Reverse, for manual
transaxle) and set the parking
brake.
2. Pull the release lever to unlatch the hood. The hood should pop
open slightly. 3. Raise the hood slightly, pull the
secondary latch up (1) inside of
the hood center until it releases
the hood and lift the hood (2).
4. Pull out the support rod (3).
5. Hold the hood opened with thesupport rod (4).

vehicle according to the "Fuel
Requirements" suggested in chap-
ter 1.
• Do not spill fuel on the exterior surfaces of the vehicle. Any type of
fuel spilled on painted surfaces

When refueling, always move
the shift lever to the P (Park)
position (for automatic
transaxle) or first gear or R
(Reverse, for manual transaxle),
set the parking brake, and place
the ignition switch to the
LOCK/OFF position. Sparks
produced by electrical compo-
nents related to the engine can
ignite fuel vapors causing a fire.
Do not use matches or a lighter and do not smoke or
leave a lit cigarette in your
vehicle while at a gas station,
especially during refueling.
Do not over-fill or top-off your vehicle tank, which can cause
gasoline spillage.

If a fire breaks out during refu-eling, leave the vicinity of the
vehicle, and immediately con-
tact the manager of the gas
station and then contact the
local fire department. Follow
any safety instructions they
provide.
If pressurized fuel sprays out, it can cover your clothes or
skin and thus subject you to
the risk of fire and burns.
Always remove the fuel cap
carefully and slowly. If the cap
is venting fuel or if you hear a
hissing sound, wait until the
condition stops before com-
pletely removing the cap.
Always check that the fuel cap is installed securely to pre-
vent fuel spillage in the event
of an accident.
CAUTION
If the fuel filler cap requiresreplacement, use only a genuineHYUNDAI cap or the equivalentspecified for your vehicle. Anincorrect fuel filler cap canresult in a serious malfunctionof the fuel system or emissioncontrol system.
