Remote Starting the Vehicle
Note:You must press each button within three seconds of each other.
Your vehicle will not remote start and the horn will not sound if you do
not follow this sequence.
The label on your transmitter
details the starting procedure.
To remote start your vehicle:
1. Press the lock button to lock all the doors.
2. Press the remote start button twice. The exterior lamps will flash
twice.
The horn will sound if the system fails to start, unless quiet start is on.
Quiet start will run the blower fan at a slower speed to reduce noise.
You can switch it on or off in the information display. See the
Information Displayschapter.
Note:If you remote start your vehicle with an integrated keyhead
transmitter, you must switch the ignition on before driving your vehicle.
If you remote start your vehicle with an intelligent access transmitter,
you must have a programmed intelligent access key inside your vehicle
and press theSTART/STOPbutton on the instrument panel once while
applying the brake pedal before driving the vehicle.
The power windows will not work during the remote start and the radio
will not turn on automatically.
The parking lamps will remain on and the vehicle will run for 5, 10, or
15 minutes, depending on the setting. See theInformation Displays
chapter to select the duration of the remote start system.

•Audio system maximum volume of 45%. A message will be shown in
the display when you attempt to exceed the limited volume. Also, the
speed-sensitive or compensated automatic volume control will be
disabled.
•Always on setting. When this is selected, you will not be able to turn
off AdvanceTrac (if your vehicle is equipped with this feature).
CREATING A MYKEY
Use the information display to create a MyKey:
1. Insert the key you want to program into the ignition. If your vehicle is
equipped with a push-button start and you do not have a backup slot,
hold the intelligent access key next to the steering column. The correct
position to place your fob is in another chapter. SeeStarting and
Stopping the Engine.
2. Switch the ignition on.
3. Access the main menu on the information display controls, and select
Settings, thenMyKeyby pressingOKor the>button.
4. PressOKor the>button to selectCreate MyKey.
5. When prompted, hold theOKbutton until you see a message
informing you to label this key as a MyKey. The key will be restricted at
the next start.
MyKey is successfully created. Make sure you label it so you can
distinguish it from the admin keys.
You can also program configurable settings for the key(s). Refer to
Programming/Changing Configurable Settings.
Programming/Changing Configurable Settings
Use the information display to access your configurable MyKey settings.
1. Switch the ignition on with an admin key.
2. Access the main menu on the information display controls, and select
Settings, thenMyKeyby pressingOKor>button.
3. Use the arrow buttons to get to a feature.
4. PressOKor>to make a selection.
Note:You can clear or change your MyKey settings at any time during
the same key cycle as you created the MyKey. Once you have switched
the vehicle off, however, you will need an admin key to change or clear
your MyKey settings.

MYKEY TROUBLESHOOTING

IGNITION SWITCH (IF EQUIPPED)
0 (Off):The ignition is off.
Note:When you switch the ignition off and leave your vehicle, do not
leave your key in the ignition. This could cause your vehicle battery to
lose charge.
I (Accessory):Allows the electrical accessories, such as the radio,
to operate while the engine is not running.
Note:Do not leave the ignition key in this position for too long. This
could cause your vehicle battery to lose charge.
II (On):All electrical circuits are operational and the warning lamps and
indicators illuminate.
III (Start):Cranks the engine.
KEYLESS STARTING (IF EQUIPPED)
Note:The keyless starting system may not function if the key is close to
metal objects or electronic devices such as cellular phones.
Note:A valid key must be located inside your vehicle to switch the
ignition on and start the engine.
Note:When locking your vehicle, any remote controls left inside the
vehicle may become disabled. A message may appear in the information
display indicating that there is no key detected if you try to start the
engine. Press the unlock button on the remote control to enable it, and
then start the engine.

Ignition Modes
Off:Turns the ignition off.
•Without applying the brake pedal, press and release the button once
when the ignition is in the on mode, or when the engine is running
but the vehicle is not in motion.
On:All electrical circuits are operational. Warning lamps and indicators
are illuminated.
•Without applying the brake pedal, press and release the button once
from off mode.
Start:Starts the engine.
•Press the brake pedal, and then press the button until the engine
starts.
STARTING A GASOLINE ENGINE
When you start the engine, the idle speed increases, this helps to warm
up the engine. If the engine idle speed does not slow down automatically,
have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer.
Before starting the engine check the following:
•Make sure all occupants have fastened their safety belts.
•Make sure the headlamps and electrical accessories are off.
•Make sure the parking brake is on.
•Move the transmission selector lever to positionP(automatic
transmission) or neutral (manual transmission).
•Turn the ignition key to positionII.If your vehicle is equipped with a
keyless ignition, see the following instructions.
Vehicles with an Ignition Key
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
1. Fully press the brake pedal. If your vehicle is equipped with a manual
transmission, fully press the clutch pedal also.
2. Turn the key to positionIII.Release the key when the engine starts.

Note:The engine may continue cranking for up to 15 seconds or until it
starts.
Note:If you cannot start the engine on the first try, wait for a short
period and try again.
Vehicles with Keyless Start
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
1. Fully press the brake pedal.
2. Press the button.
The system does not function if:
•The key frequencies are jammed.
•The key battery has no charge.
If you are unable to start your vehicle, do the following:

1. Hold the key at the backup
location on the steering column.
2. With the key in this position,

Fast Restart (Vehicles with Keyless Start)
The fast restart feature allows you to restart the engine within
10 seconds of switching it off, even if a valid key is not present.
Within 10 seconds of switching the engine off, press the brake pedal and
press the button. After 10 seconds have expired, you can no longer start
the engine without the key present inside your vehicle.
Once the engine has started, it remains running until you press the
button, even if the system does not detect a valid key. If you open and
close a door while the engine is running, the system searches for a valid
key. You cannot start the engine if the system does not detect a valid key
within 10 seconds.
Failure to Start
If you cannot start the engine after three attempts, wait 10 seconds and
follow this procedure:
1. Fully press the brake pedal. If your vehicle is equipped with a manual
transmission, fully press the clutch pedal also.
2. Fully press the accelerator pedal and hold it there.
3. Start the engine.
Stopping the Engine When Your Vehicle is Stationary
1. Move the transmission selector lever to positionP(automatic
transmission) or1(manual transmission).
2. If your vehicle has an ignition key, turn the key to position0.
If your vehicle has a keyless start system, press the button once.
3. Apply the parking brake.
Note:This switches off the ignition, all electrical circuits, warning lamps
and indicators.
Stopping the Engine When Your Vehicle is Moving
WARNING:Switching off the engine when the vehicle is still
moving will result in a loss of brake and steering assistance.
The steering will not lock, but higher effort will be required. When the
ignition is switched off, some electrical circuits, warning lamps and
indicators may also be off.
