Particle emission filter (Diesel)

The start of saturation of the
par ticle filter is indicated by
the temporary illumination of
this warning lamp accompanied by a message
in the multi-function screen.
As soon as the traffic conditions permit,
regenerate the filter by driving at a
speed of at least 40 mph (60 km/h) until
the warning lamp goes off.
If the warning lamp stays on, this
indicates a low additive level.

On a new vehicle, the first particle
filter regeneration operations may be
accompanied by a "burning" smell,
which is per fectly normal.
Following prolonged operation of the
vehicle at very low speed or at idle,
you may, in exceptional circumstances,
notice the emission of water vapour at
the exhaust on acceleration. This does
not affect the behaviour of the vehicle
or the environment.

Oil filter

Depending on the environment (e.g. dusty
atmosphere) and the use of the vehicle
(e.g. city driving), replace them twice as often
if necessary
.
A clogged passenger compartment filter may
have an adverse effect on the per formance of the
air conditioning system and generate undesirable
odours.

Service indicator
More than 1 800 miles (3 000 km) remain before the next service is due
When the ignition is switched on, no service information appears in the screen.
System which informs the driver when the next service is due, in accordance with the manufacturer's servicing schedule. The point at which the service is due is calculated from the last indicator zero reset, according to the mileage covered and the time elapsed since the last service. For Blue HDi Diesel versions, depending on the country of sale, the level of deterioration of the engine oil may also be taken into account.
Between 600 miles (1 000 km) and 1 800 miles (3 000 km) remain before the next service is due
For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the spanner symbolising the service operations comes on. The distance recorder display line indicates the distance remaining before the next service is due. Example: 1 700 miles (2 800 km) remain before the next service is due. For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the screen indicates:
5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the spanner goes off ; the distance recorder the spanner goes off ; the distance recorder the spanner goes offresumes its normal operation. The screen then indicates the total and trip distances.
Less than 600 miles (1 000 km) remain before the next service is due
Example: 560 miles (900 km) remain before the next service is due. For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the screen indicates:
5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the distance recorder resumes its normal operation. The spanner remains on to indicate that a service must be carried out soon.

Service overdue
For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the spanner flashes to indicate that the service must be carried out as soon as possible. Example: the service is overdue by 186 miles (3 0 0 k m). For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the screen indicates:
5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the distance recorder resumes its normal operation. The spanner remains on . With Blue HDi Diesel versions, the Servicewarning lamp also comes on when the ignition is switched on.
Therefore, the spanner may come on if you have exceeded the period since the last service, as indicated in the maintenance and warranty guide. For Blue HDi versions, the spanner may also come on early, according to the
level of deterioration of the engine oil, which depends on the driving conditions in which the vehicle is used.
