@ Interior lights
Press the button ®· T he LED in the button il­
luminates.
If the LED illum inates, the interior lights turn
on automatically when you un lock the vehicle,
open a door or remove the ignition key. The in­
ter ior lights turn off several seconds after
your close the doors, when you lock the vehi­
cle or when you turn the ignition on. When a
door is open, the light turns off after a few
minutes .
@ Front/rear reading lights
To turn a reading light on/off, press the but­
ton~¢

Instrument illumination
The basic brightness of the illumination for
the instruments, the center console and the
display can be adjusted.

.,. Press the knob to release it .
.,. Turn the knob toward"-" or"+" to reduce or
increase the brightness .
.,. Press the knob aga in to return it to its origi­
nal position.
(!') Tips
The instrument illumination (for dials and
needles) lights on when the ignition is
switched on and the vehicle lights are
turned off. As the daylight fades, the illu­
mination of the dia ls likewise dims auto­
matically and will go out completely when
the outside light is very low. This feature is
meant to remind you to switch on the
headlights when outside light conditions
become poor.

Turn the knob to the desired position:
Q/ P -In this position , you can adjust the
driver's and front passenger's exterior mirrors by turning the knob in the desired direction.
(ijjl -The mirrors are heated depending on the
outside temperature.
Passenger exterior mirror tilt function*
To help you see the curb when backing into a parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly . The knob must be in the P posit ion
for this to happen .
You can adjus t the tilted mirror sur face by
turning the knob in the desired direction .
When you move out of reverse and into anoth­
er gear, the new mirror position is stored and
assigned to the key you are using.
T he mirror goes back into its original position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph (15 km/h) or switch the ignition off .
_& WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (convex or spheri­
cal*) increase your field of view. Remem­
ber that vehicles or other objects will ap­
pear smaller and farther away than when
seen in a flat mirror. If you use this mirror
to estimate distances of following vehicles
when changing lanes, you could estimate
incorrectly and cause an accident .
(D Note
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
car wash, you must fold the exterior mir­
rors in to reduce the risk of damage to
the mirrors.

- The exterior mirror settings are stored
with the memory function*

-If there should be a malfunction in the
electrical system, you can still adjust the
exterior mirrors by pressing the edge of
the mirror.

Electrolyte fluid can leak from automatic
dimming mirrors if the glass is broken .
Electrolyte fluid can irritate skin, eyes and
respiratory system.
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to elec­
trolyte can cause irritation to the respira­
tory system, especially among people
with asthma or other resp iratory condi­
tions . Get fresh air immediately by leav­
ing the vehicle or, if that is not possible,
open windows and doors all the way.
- If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with large amounts of clean water for at least 15 minutes;
medical attention is recommended.
- If electrolyte contacts skin, flush affect­
ed area with clean water for at least 15
minutes and then wash affected area
with soap and water; medical attention
is recommended. Thoroughly wash af­
fected clothing and shoes before reuse .

A WARNING
Never place any objects in the driver's foot­
well. An object could get into the pedal
area and interfere with pedal function. In
case of sudden braking or an accident, you
would not be able to brake or accelerate .
Front passenger's seat
Always move the front passenger seat into
the rearmost position .
To avoid contact with the airbag while it is de­
ploying, do not sit any closer to the instru­
ment panel than necessary and always wear
the three-point safety belt provided adjusted
correctly . We recommend that you adjust the
passenger's seat in the following manner:
.,. Bring the backrest up to an (almost) upright
position.
Do not ride with the seat reclined .
"" Applies to vehicles with adjustable head re­
stra ints: Adjust the head restraint so the up­
per edge is as even as possible with the top
of your head. If that is not possible, try to
adjust the head restraint so that it is as
close to this position as possible

- Never adjust the driver's or front pas­
senger's seat while the vehicle is moving.
If you do this while the veh icle is moving,
you will be out of position. Always adjust
the dr iver's or front passenger's seat
when the vehicle is not mov ing.
- Be careful when adjusting the seat
he ight. Check to see that no one is in the
way, or ser ious injury could result!
- Because the seats can be electrically ad­
justed with the ignition off or with the
ignit ion key removed, never leave chil­
dren unattended in the vehicle. Unsuper­
vised use of the electric seat adjust­
ments may cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden braking or accident, front pas­
sengers must never ride in a moving ve­
hicle with the backrest reclined. Safety
belts and the airbag system only offer
maximum protection when the backrest
is upr ight and the safety belts are prop­
erly positioned on the body. The more
the backrest is reclined, the greater the
risk of persona l injury from an incorrect
seating position and improperly posi­
tioned safety belts.

64 Seats and storage
Seat memory
Description
Applies to vehicles: with memory function
The memory function allows you to quickly
and easily sto re and recal l personal seating
p rofiles for the dr iver. The memo ry func tion is
operated through the master key and the
memory buttons in the driver's door .
The driver's seating profi le is stored and as ­
sig ned to the master key each t ime the vehi cle
is locked . When you open the door, the seat
profile is automatically recalled. If two people
use one vehicle, it is recommended that each
person always uses "their own" master key.
Up to 2 seat profiles can be stored in the
memory buttons in the driver's door . Once
they are stored, these seat profiles can be se­
lected at any time.
I n addition to the driver 's seat settings , you
can also store and access the exterior mirror
adj ustment settings* using the remote con­
trol key or memory button.

The memory b uttons are located in the driv­
er's door.
Switching the memo ry function on /off
~ Press the ION/OFF ! button to sw itch the
memory fu nction on/off . The word
OFF
lights up when the memory function is
sw itched off. Seat profiles are neither stored
nor recalled.
Storing a seat p rofile
~ Press the ISETI button. When the word SE T
lights up, the memory is ready to store set­
tings.
~ Press a memory button dII or [Ii ) briefly . A
tone conf irms that the settings were stored.
Accessing a seat profile
~ If the driver's door is open and the ignition
is switched off, press the memory button.
~ If the driver's door is closed or the ignition is
sw itched on, press and hold the memory
button until the seat adjustment is com­
plete .

-For safety reasons ., the seat setting can
only be re called when the vehicle is s ta­
tionary - otherwise yo u risk hav ing an ac­
cident.

Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident

- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehicle while it is mov ing. In case
of an accident, sudden brak ing or other
vehicle movement, hot liqu id could spill,
causing scald ing burns . Sp illed hot liqu id
can also cause an accident and personal
injury .
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder . Hard
cups and g lasses can cause in ju ry in an
acc ident.
- Never use the cupholde r or adapter as an
ashtray - risk of fire.
(D Note
Only drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupholder. Liquid could spill
out and damage your vehicle's electronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.
Glove compartment
T he glove compartment is illuminated and
can be locked.

On the right s ide in the glove compartment is
a ho lder with the key body into w hich the
emergency key must be clipped to be able to
start the veh icle.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of pe rsonal in jury in an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
g love compartment closed while driving.

Warm and cold Climate controls
Description
Th e climate control sy stem warms, cools and
adds humidity to the a ir in the veh icle inter io r.
It is the most effect ive when the windows and
power top are closed. If there is a build-up of
h eat inside the vehicle, ventilation can help to
speed up the cooling process .
I n all he ating mode f unctions except
defrost,
the blower on ly switches to a higher speed
once the engine coolant has reached a certain
temp erature.
Condensat ion from the cooling sys tem can
d rip and form a puddle of water under the ve­
h icle. This is normal and does not mean there
is a leak .
Pollutant filter
The po llutant filte r removes po llutants s uch
as dus t and pollen from the air.
The air pollutants filte r must be changed at
the intervals spec ified in you r Wa rra nty
&
M aintenance book let, so tha t the air condi­
tioner can prope rly work .
If you drive your vehicle in an area w ith h igh
a ir po llution , the fi lter may need to be
changed more frequent ly than specified in
your Aud i Warranty
& Ma intenance bookle t. If
in doubt, ask your authorized A udi Service Ad ­
v isor for advice .
Key coded settings
The clima te control sett ings are automat ically
stored and assigned to the remote co ntro l key
that is in use. These set tings are differe nt
when the power top is open or closed .

Reduced visibility is dangero us and can
cause accidents . -

all windows be free of ice, snow and con­
densat ion.
- Comp letely fam iliarize yourse lf with the
proper use and funct ion of the heat ing
and ve nti lation system and especially
how to defog and defrost the w indows.
- Never use the windshield wiper/washer
system in freez ing weather unt il you
have warmed the w indshield first, using
the heating and ventilation system. The
washer sol ution may free ze o n the wind­
shie ld an d red uce visib ility.

- If you s uspect that the air conditioner
has been damaged, switch the system
off to avoid furt her damage and have it
i n spected by a q ua lified dea lership.
- Repairs to the Audi air condition er re­
quire specia l techni cal know ledge and

- Keep the air intake s lo ts ( in fro nt of the
w indshield) free from ice, snow and de­
br is in order to maintai n the proper f unc ­
tion of the climate control system.
- T he energy m anagement system may
switch the seat heating* or rear window
defroster off temporar ily . These systems
are available again as soon as the energy
balance has been restored .
- Air escapes through vents under the rear
window. When placing items of clothing
on the luggage compartment cover, en­
sure that the openings are not covered.

Steering
Manually adjustable steering wheel
The steering wheel position is fully adjustable
up and down and forward and bock .

• Pull the lever

• Move the steer ing whee l to the desired posi­
t ion.
• Push the lever against the steering column
until it locks.
There must be at least 10 inches (25 cm) be­
tween you r chest and the center of the steer­
i ng wheel. If you cannot sit more than 10 in­
ches (25 cm) from the steering whee l, see if
adaptive equipment is available to help you
reach the pedals and increase the distance
from the steering wheel.

A WARNING
Improper use of steeri ng wheel adjust­
ment and improper seating position can
cause serious personal injury.
- Adjust the steering whee l co lumn on ly
when the veh icle is not moving to pre­
vent loss of veh icle control.
- Adjust the driver's seat or steering wheel
so that there is a minimum of 10 inches
(25 cm) between your chest and the
steering wheel

yo u cannot mainta in this min imum dis- tance, the airbag system cannot protect
you proper ly.
- If physical limitations prevent you from
sitting 10 inches (25 cm) or more from
the steering wheel, check with your au­
thorized Audi dealer to see if adaptive
equ ipment is ava ilable .
- If the steer ing wheel is aligned with your
face, the supplementa l driver's a irbag
cannot provide as much protection in an
accident . Always make sure that the
steer ing wheel is aligned with your
chest.
- Always hold the steering wheel w ith your
hands at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock posi­
tions to reduce the risk of persona l injury
if the driver's airbag dep loys .
- Never hold the stee ring wheel at the 12
o'clock position or with your hands inside
the steeri ng wheel rim or on the steering
wheel hub . Holding the steering wheel
the wrong way can cause se rious injuries
to the hands, arms and head if the driv­
er's airbag deploys.
Ignition lock
Starting engine with the key

The ignition is switched on and the engine
started with the ignition key .

Switching the ignition on /off
If you wou ld like to switch the ignition on
without starting the engine, follow these
steps :
~ Insert the key into the ignition lock .
~ Press the key b riefly wi thout p ress ing the
brake pedal.
~ T o switch the ignition off, press the key
again .
When starting the engine, major e lectr ica l
l oads are switched off temporarily .
You can only remove the key w ith the ignition
sw itched off.
If the engine should not start immediately,
the starting process is automatically stopped
after a short time . Repeat sta rting procedure .
A WARNING
-Never allow the engine to ru n in confined
spaces -dange r of asphyxiation .
- Never remove the ignition key from the
ignition look whi le the vehicle is movi ng.
Otherw ise, the stee ring lo ck cou ld sud­
denly engage and you would not be ab le
to steer the vehicle .
- Always ta ke the key with you wheneve r
yo u leave yo ur vehicle . Otherwise, the
engine could be started or e lectrica l
equipment such as the power windows
cou ld be operated. This can lead to seri­
ous injury.
- Never leave ch ildren or persons requiring
assistance unattended in the vehicle. The
doo rs can be locked using the remote
transmitter, preventing people from es ­
caping from the vehicle on their own in
the event of an eme rgency . Depend ing
on the t ime of year, people inside the ve­
hicle c an be exposed to very h igh or ve ry
low temperatures.

@ Note
Avoid high engine rpm, fu ll throttle and
heavy engine loads until the engine has
reached operating temperat ure -other­
wise you r isk eng ine damage.
@ For the sake of the environment
Do not let the eng ine run w hile pa rked to
warm up. Begin dr iv ing immediately . Th is
reduces unnecessary emissions.
(D Tips
- If the key cannot be removed from the
ignition lock, you have to pull the me­
chanical key out of the master key in or­
der to be able to lock the vehicle
¢ page 34 .
-After starting a cold e ngine, there may
be a brief period of increased no ise be ­
cause the oil p ress ure must fi rst bu ild up
in the hydraulic va lve ad justers. This is
normal and not a cause for concer n.
- If you leave the veh icle w ith the ignition
switched on, the ig nitio n w ill switch off
afte r a cer tain per iod of t ime . Please
note that ele ctrical eq uipment such as
exterior lights will switch off as well
w hen that happens .
