(one turn).
Turn the tire jack handle until the
notch of the jack is in contact
with the jack point.
Raise the vehicle until the tire is
slightly raised off the ground.
Remove all the wheel bolts and
the tire.
When resting the tire on the
ground, place the tire so that the
wheel design faces up to avoid
scratching the wheel surface.

Installing the tire
Remove any dirt or foreign mat-
ter from the wheel contact sur-
face.
If foreign matter is on the wheel
contact surface, the wheel bolts
may loosen while the vehicle is in
motion, causing the tire to come
off.
Install the tire and loosely tighten each wheel bolt by hand by
approximately the same amount.
Tighten the wheel bolts until the
tapered portion comes into loose
contact with the disc wheel seat.
Lower the vehicle.

two or three times in the order
shown in the illustration.
Tightening torque:
103 N·m (10.5 kgf·m, 76 ft·lbf)
Do not use other tools or any
additional leverage other than
your hands, such as a hammer,
pipe or your foot.
Vehicles with a steel wheels
Reinstall the wheel ornament.
Align the cutout of the wheel
ornament with the valve stem as
shown.
Vehicles with an aluminum wheels
Remove the center wheel orna-
ment by pushing from the
reverse side.
Be careful not to lose the wheel
ornament.
Stow the flat tire, tire jack and all tools.

CAUTION
Replacing a flat tire
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in serious injury:
• Do not try to remove the wheel ornament by hand. Take due care in
handling the ornament to avoid unexpected personal injury.
• Do not touch the disc wheels or the area around the brakes immedi-
ately after the vehicle has been driven.
After the vehicle has been driven the disc wheels and the area around
the brakes will be extremely hot. Touching these areas with hands, feet
or other body parts while changing a tire, etc. may result in burns.
Failure to follow these precautions could cause the wheel bolts to loosen
and the tire to fall off, resulting in death or serious injury.
• Never use oil or grease on the wheel bolts.
Oil and grease may cause the wheel bolts to be excessively tightened,
leading to bolt or disc wheel damage. Remove any oil or grease from
the wheel bolts.
• Have the wheel bolts tightened with a torque wrench to 103 N·m (10.5
kgf·m, 76 ft·lbf) as soon as possible after changing wheels.
• When installing a tire, only use wheel bolts that have been specifically
designed for that wheel.
• If there are any cracks or deformations in the bolt screws, nut threads
or bolt holes of the wheel, have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped
professional.
On vehicles with steel wheels, never
use tools, such as an Allen wrench, that
are used by applying them to a hexago-
nal concave portion of a bolt head.
Doing so could cause bolt deformation
and improper installation, and may
result in serious injury.

Do not drive the vehicle with a flat tire
Do not continue driving with a flat tire.
Driving even a short distance with a flat tire can damage the tire and the
wheel beyond repair.

CAUTION
When attempting to free a stuck vehicle
If you choose to push the vehicle back and forth to free it, make sure the sur-
rounding area is clear to avoid striking other vehicles, objects or people. The
vehicle may also lunge forward or lunge back suddenly as it becomes free.
Use extreme caution.
When shifting the shift lever (vehicles with a multi-mode manual trans-
mission)
Be careful not to shift the shift lever with the accelerator pedal depressed.
This may lead to unexpected rapid acceleration of the vehicle that may
cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
To avoid damage to the transmission and other components
Avoid spinning the wheels and depressing the accelerator pedal more
than necessary.
If the vehicle remains stuck even after these procedures are performed,
the vehicle may require towing to be freed.

CAUTION
If the engine has to be turned off while driving
Power assist for the brakes and steering wheel will be lost, making the
brake pedal harder to depress and the steering wheel heavier to turn.
Decelerate as much as possible before turning off the engine.
Never attempt to remove the key, as doing so will lock the steering wheel.
