CAUTION
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause the driver’s floor mat to slip, possibly interfering
with the pedals while driving. An unexpectedly high speed may result or it may
become difficult to stop the vehicle, leading to an accident, or leading to death
or a serious injury.
When installing the driver’s floor mat
Do not use floor mats designed for other models or different model year
vehicles, even if they are Toyota Genuine floor mats.
Only use floor mats designed for the driver’s seat.
Always install the floor mat securely using the retaining hooks (clips) pro-
vided.
Do not use two or more floor mats on top of each other.
Do not place the floor mat bottom-side up or upside-down.
Before driving
Check that the floor mat is securely
fixed in the correct place with all the
provided retaining hooks (clips). Be
especially careful to perform this check
after cleaning the floor.
Except hybrid model: With the engine
stopped and the shift lever in P (Multid-
rive) or N (multi-mode manual and man-
ual transmissions), fully depress each
pedal to the floor to make sure it does
not interfere with the floor mat.
Hybrid model: With the hybrid system
stopped and the shift position in P, fully
depress each pedal to the floor to make
sure it does not interfere with the floor
mat.

The gasoline engine may not stop even if the vehicle is running on the hybrid
battery (traction battery). If this continues for a few days, contact any autho-
rized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped profes-
sional.
Sounds and vibrations specific to a hybrid vehicle
There may be no engine sounds or vibration even though the vehicle is able
to move. For safety, apply the parking brake and make sure to shift the shift
position to P when parked.
The following sounds or vibrations may occur when the hybrid system is
operating and are not a malfunction:
Motor sounds may be heard from the engine compartment.
Sounds may be heard from the hybrid battery (traction battery) under the
rear seats when the hybrid system starts or stops.
Sounds from the hybrid system may be heard when the back door is open.
Sounds may be heard from the hybrid transmission when the gasoline
engine starts or stops, when driving at low speeds, or during idling.
Engine sounds may be heard when accelerating sharply.
Sounds may be heard due to regenerative braking when the brake pedal is
depressed.
Vibration may be felt when the gasoline engine starts or stops.
Cooling fan sounds may be heard from the air intake vents on the side of the
lower part of the rear left seats.
Maintenance, repair, recycling, and disposal
Contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional regarding maintenance, repair, recycling and dis-
posal. Do not dispose of the vehicle yourself.
Customization
Settings (e.g. on/off operation of the EV indicator) can be changed.

Operation of each component
CAUTION
When folding the rear seatbacks down
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or
serious injury.
Do not fold the seatbacks down while driving.
Except hybrid model: Stop the vehicle on level ground, set the parking
brake and shift the shift lever to P (Multidrive) or N (multi-mode manual
transmission and manual transmission).
Hybrid model: Stop the vehicle on level ground, set the parking brake and
set the shift position to P.
Do not allow anyone to sit on a folded seatback or in the luggage compart-
ment while driving.
Do not allow children to enter the luggage compartment.
Do not allow anyone to sit on the rear center seat if the rear right seat is
folded down, as the seat belt buckle for the rear center seat belt is then
concealed under the folded seat and cannot be used.
Be careful not to catch your hand when folding the rear seatbacks.
Adjust the position of the front seat before folding down the rear seatbacks
so that the front seat does not interfere with the rear seatbacks when fold-
ing down the rear seatbacks.

Multidrive and hybrid transmission
Except hybrid model: With the brake pedal depressed, shift the shift

Check that the shift position indicator shows D.
Release the parking brake. (P. 306)
Gradually release the brake pedal and gently depress the accelera-
tor pedal to accelerate the vehicle.
Multi-mode manual transmission
With the brake pedal depressed, shift the shift lever to E or M.

When shifting the shift lever to E: Make sure that the display of the gear
position indicator shows E.
When shifting the shift lever to M: Make sure that the display of the gear
position indicator shows 1.
Release the parking brake. (P. 306)
Gradually release the brake pedal and gently depress the accelera-
