Safety notes
WARNINGAccidents and injuries can occur if the driver is distracted. Operating theinfotainment system while driving can distract your attention from thetraffic.

Always drive carefully and responsibly.
●
Select volume settings that allow you to easily hear signals from out-side the vehicle at all times (e.g. emergency service sirens).
●
Setting the volume too high may damage your hearing. This also ap-plies if you are exposed to high volumes for short periods only.
WARNINGThe volume level may suddenly change when you switch audio source orconnect a new audio source.●
Reduce the base volume before switching audio source or connectinga new audio source ⇒ page 9.
WARNINGConnecting, inserting or removing a data medium while the vehicle is inmotion can distract you from the road and lead to accidents.WARNINGConnecting leads for external devices may obstruct the driver.●
Arrange the connecting leads so that they do not obstruct the driver.WARNINGExternal devices that are placed loose in the vehicle or not properly se-cured could be flung though the interior and cause injuries during a sud-den driving or braking manoeuvre, or in the event of an accident.

You should never position or attach an external device on a door, onthe windscreen or above or near to the areas marked “AIRBAG” on thesteering wheel, the dash panel and the seat backrests, or between theseareas and the vehicle occupants. External devices can cause serious in-jury in an accident, especially when the airbags inflate.

Lower the vol-ume.Turn the volume control anticlockwise or turn the rightthumbwheel downwards on the multifunction steeringwheel.
The volume modification is shown on the screen with a bar. During this timethe unit cannot be operated.
It is possible to preset certain volume settings and adjustments⇒ page 64.
Silence the unit

Turn the volume control anticlockwise until you see .

OR: Press the MUTE infotainment button.
Note
If the basic playback volume of an audio source has been increased sub-stantially, lower the volume before changing to another audio source.

The unit is equipped with a touchscreen.
The active areas of the screen that represent a function are called “functionbuttons” and are used by pressing them briefly on the display or holdingthem down. The function buttons are represented in the instructions withthe word “function buttons” and the button symbol - - -.
The function buttons activate functions or open submenus.

Press the function button New dest. in the navigation main menu.

Press the Options button and select the destination data you wish to en-ter (Address, POI or Map/GPS coordinates).
Steering
To select an address you must always follow the sequence shown: first thecountry, then the town, and so on. For “town”, you can indicate a town or apostcode.
After entering the town and pressing the town centre button, you can startguided navigation to the “centre” of the town in question.
When narrowing down the destination address, please note that every entryrestricts the available range of subsequent selections. If, for example, thestreet sought is not found in the postcode entered previously, it will not bein the previous option to select the street either.

POI (Points of interest)
Starting guided navigation to a point of interest.
Function button: effectSearch area: select the area in which you wish to search for points of inter-est. Near current location: looks for points of interest in the area aroundyour current location.Destination areaa): looks for points of interest in the area around thedestination.Along the routea): looks for points of interest in the area along theroute.Near address: looks for points of interest in the area around the ad-dress entered.Select on map: looks for points of interest in the area around the des-tination selected on the map. To select a destination on the map,press the function button Edit.
Find categories: main category (e.g. Car and travel), Categories (e.g. Airports)and then select the desired entry from the list. Save: stores the point of interest selected in the destination memo-ry ⇒ page 40.Dial nr.: establishes a telephone connection to the number assignedto the point of interest.Start: starts guided navigation at the selected point of interest.
Find: search for a point of interest by entering its name.a)
The function button is displayed only when guided navigation is activated.
Map/GPS coordinates
Select a destination on the map or through GPS coordinates and confirm bypressing Accept.

When you activate voice control, you can choose which text and icons takeon the colour of the different functions:

Start and stop the voice control
●
To activate the voice control, briefly press the button on the multi-func-tion steering wheel . It can also be activated with the VOICE button in theMIB.
●
When voice control is activated there will be an ascending acoustic sig-nal and a main command menu will be displayed within the function (themenu will be displayed if option ⇒ page 63 is activated in the voice con-trol setup). The spoken instructions will guide you through the following“dialogue”.
●
Pronounce the desired order and follow the instructions of the “dia-logue”. A function can often be activated with different spoken commands.In case of doubt, try to give a command. Due to the quantity of commandsthe system can admit, this manual only includes the most important ones.
●
When an action is carried out (e.g. calling a contact), the voice controlautomatically deactivates and must be reactivated when needed again.There are certain commands after which the voice control does not end andwaits with What do you wish to do now?.
●
To end voice control manually, keep the button pressed on the multi-function steering wheel until you hear the corresponding confirmation (de-scending sound), or press the button in the display. You can also brieflypress the VOICE button twice to deactivate voice control. (Voice control isdeactivated in the following ways: by briefly pressing the VOICE button orCommand on the steering wheel twice; or by pressing VOICE or Commandon the steering wheel for a few moments, and touching the screen or anybutton on the radio).
Help with voice control
The first time you use the voice control, listen to the Help.

Press the function button .
●
Give the “Help” command in the language established in the Systemsetup, and follow the dialogue instructions.
Operation during the dialogue
While the infotainment system transmits a spoken indication, the displaywill show the symbol .
●
Briefly press the button on the multi-function steering wheel to inter-rupt the spoken indication of the infotainment system and give the nextcommand.
IMPORTANT: The system will ONLY recognise a command when the sym-bol is displayed as “active” on the display or touch screen.
If you make a mistake when giving a command or give an incomplete com-mand, and it has no effect, you can repeat the command. The symbol remains active.

Briefly press the button of the multi-function steering wheel to repeatthe command.
Instructions for voice control
For optimum functioning of the voice control, follow these instructions:
●
Speak slowly and clearly, as far as possible. The system will not recog-nise words pronounced unclearly, or words and figures in which syllablesare omitted.
●
Telephone numbers must be indicated figure by figure or in blocks ofnumbers in units, tens or hundreds.
●
Speak at a normal volume, without exaggerated intonation or long pau-ses.
●
Avoid noise from the exterior and nearby (for example, conversations in-side the vehicle). Close all doors, windows and the sliding roof.
