Mobile phone system*
96If a recorded name has been stored for a phone book entry in the on-board
phone memory, this entry will be marked by an arrow ⇒ page 95, fig. 113 in
the instrument panel display. This arrow will help you identify those phone
book entries in the on-board phone memory to which a recorded name has
been assigned.
A running dialogue can be cancelled at any time with a press of the talk
button ⇒page 95, fig. 112 on the multi-function steering wheel.
Note
•If two or more names sound alike, it is better to save the names including
the first name or some other distinguishing entry.•The phone book with the name tags (voice entries) only works in conjunc-
tion with the speech control system. The recorded names (name tags) are not
stored in the on-board phone memory.Selecting name tags from the phone book*
Stored name tags can be selected.– Press the talk button ⇒page 95, fig. 112 on the multi-func-
tion steering wheel. You will then hear a beep.
– Search for and select the recorded name to be modified ⇒page 95. You will then hear two beeps.You will hear an ascending sequence of tones to confirm that the system has
recognised the name. The number for the person you wish to call will then be
dialled.
If the system failed to recognise the name, you will hear a descending
sequence of tones. Please say the recorded name again. A running dialogue can be cancelled at any time by pressing and holding the
talk button

Deleting name tags from the phone book*
You can delete name tags that you have stored in the phone
book.– Press the button ⇒page 95, fig. 112 on the multi-
function steering wheel to switch to the telephone function. A
phone book entry will appear on the instrument panel display.
– Use the left thumbwheel to scroll through the phone book and to select an entry marked with a horizontal arrow.
– Press the talk button ⇒page 95, fig. 112 . The name tag is
deleted.When you have deleted a recorded name, the arrow ⇒page 95, fig. 113 in
front of the phone book entry will also be deleted in the instrument panel
display.

104Main navigation menuEntering a destination
There are various ways of entering the navigation destina-
tions.First determine whether you would like to navigate to a final destination with
or without stopovers ⇒page 120. After you have selected the type of guid-
ance (with/without stopovers) you can enter a destination over different
routes. Entering destination data in the entry menu ⇒fig. 121 is handled in
the same way in single destination and route planning mode.
There are various methods of entering navigation destinations:•Single destination mode ⇒page 104, “Single destination (route without

NoteIf the last destination was entered as position coordinates you must first
enter a country in the destination entry menu or confirm the country selected
in order to delete all existing entries in the destination entry menu. Then you
can carry out a nationwide search for the street.Special destination
– In the destination entry menu ⇒page 104, fig. 121 , select a
country from the list by rotating and pressing the control knob.
– Select Special destination ⇒ page 104, fig. 121 .
– Select Find entry ⇒ fig. 128 , enter the name using the keyboard
and confirm with OK, or
– Select List in the keyboard and choose a special destination from
the list.
– Select Set as destination . The special destination is automati-
cally transferred to the route guidance.
– Enter stopover(s) if desired ⇒page 120.
– Select Start route guidance ⇒ page 112.You can select from all the special destinations (e.g. airports, petrol stations
etc.) that are stored on the navigation DVD.
Using the Find entry function, you can enter the name of a special destination
using the keyboard.
When you confirm the special destination, this will then be set as the new
destination.
Select Telephone number
You can enter the special destination according to the telephone number if
the number is stored on the navigation DVD.
Select In immediate vicinity
This special destination category refers to the immediate vicinity of the
vehicle in its current location.
This function is especially useful when you are, for example, trying to find the
nearest restaurant.

– Select the desired setting under Voice g uida nce ⇒ fig. 165 .•Set to on : You will receive spoken navigation directions during route guid-
ance.•Set to off : You will NOT receive any spoken navigation directions during
route guidance.•Set to off (tel.) : You will hear spoken navigation directions during route
guidance, but NOT while you are on the phone.
Map content
In addition to the information displayed automatically, the
map can also display other information.Activating the map contents
–Press the ⇒ page 9 function button in the navigation
menu.
– Select Map contents ⇒ page 131, fig. 160 .
– Use the rotary pushbutton to select the information you want to have displayed. A tick
 will appear next to the options that are
selected ⇒ fig. 166, or
– Select the All categories option and press the control knob so
that a check mark
 appears after All categories. The tick box

will also appear after all the options.
