Dialing a number from the phone book

Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to selec tthe Tel menu.
X Press the 0003,0004or000B button to
switch to the phone book.
X Press the 0003or0004 button to select the
desired name.

X To begin rapid scrolling: press and hold
the 0003 or0004 button for longer than
one second.
Rapid scrolling stops when you release the
button or reach the end of the list.
X If only one telephone number is stored

to start dialing.

number you want to dial.

Activating/deactivating PRE-SAFE
®
Brake PRE-SAFE
®
Brake is only available in vehicles
with DISTRONIC PLUS.
X Press 0002or0005 on the steering wheel
to select the DriveAssist menu.
X Press the 0003or0004 buttonto select
PRE-SAFE Brake .
X Press the 000Bbutton.
The current selection is displayed.
X To activate/deactivate: press the000B
button again.
When PRE-SAFE ®
Brake is activated, the
multifunction display shows the 0001symbol
as long as the HOLD function is not activated
(Y page 176).
Vehicles with Parking Guidance: if
PARKTRONIC is activated and you are driving
at a speed 22under 35 km/h, the 0014Parking
Guidance symbol is shown instead of the
0001 symbol (Y page 181).
If the PRE-SAFE Brake: Sensors Deactivated message appears, the radar
sensor system is deactivated.

Activating/deactivating ATTENTION

Activating/deactivating Blind Spot

If the Blind Spot Assist Deactivated message appears, the radar sensor system is

door locking mechanism

steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.

Vehicle submenu.

Automatic Door Lock: function.
You will see the selected setting: Enabledor
Disabled .
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.
If you select the Automatic Door Locks: function, the vehicle is centrally locked above
a speed of around 9 mph (15 km/h).

Activating/deactivating the acoustic
locking verification signal
If you switch on the Acoustic LockFeedback: function, an acoustic signal
sounds when you lock the vehicle.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Vehicle submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Acoustic Lock Feedback: function.
You will see the selected setting: Enabledor

Convenience Activating/deactivating the EASY-
ENTRY/EXIT feature

WARNING
You must make sure no one can become
trapped or injured by the moving steering
wheel when the easy-entry/exit feature is
activated.
To stop steering wheel movement, move
steering wheel adjustmen tlever or press one
of the memory position buttons.
Do not leave children unattended in the
vehicle, or with access to an unlocked vehicle.
Children could open the driver's door and
unintentionally activate the easy-entry/exit
feature, which could result in an accident
and/or serious personal injury.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Convenience submenu.

The steerability and braking characteristics may be severely
affected. The braking distance in an emergency braking situation
can increase.
If ESP ®
is not operational, ESP ®
is unable to stabilize the vehicle.
There is an increased risk of skidding and an accident.
X Carefully drive a suitable distance, making slight steering
movements at a speed above 12 mph (20 km/h).
If the display message disappears, the functions mentioned
above are available again.
If the display message continues to be displayed:
X Drive on carefully.

Parking Brake Inoperative The yellow
000Awarning lamp lights up. The red 0005(USA
only)/ 000A(Canada only) indicato rlamp flashes for about ten
seconds after the electric parking brake has been applied or
released. It then goes out or remains lit.
The electric parking brake is malfunctioning, e.g .because of
overvoltage or undervoltage.
X Remove the cause for the overvoltage or undervoltage, e.g. by
charging the battery or restarting the engine.
X Engage or release the electric parking brake.
If it remains impossible to apply or release the electric parking
brake:
X Switch off the ignition and turn it back on.
X Engage or release the electric parking brake.
If the electric parking brake still cannot be released:
X Consult a qualified specialist workshop. The display message is only shown while the vehicle is in motion.
